Im Writing A Speech On Why I Admire Mark Wahlberg. I Need Help Writing This Speech Any Help

Who is the better actor: George Clooney, Brad Pitt, or Matt Damon?

Wow, this is a good question, from a purely quantitative standpoint all three actors are just about equal. Looking at IMDb - Movies, TV and Celebrities, Brad Pitt has 69 credits as an actor and 1 Oscar win, George Clooney has 73 credits as an actor and 2 Oscar wins, and Matt Damon has 68 credits as an actor and 1 Oscar win. There's no clear numerical lead there, so you have to go with personal preference! My personal preference:1) Brad Pitt - I really like the range that Pitt displays from the beginning of his career till now, there are some really strange and out there characters and then there are some everyday individuals, but he plays them all with authority and authenticity. From Jeffrey Goines (12 Monkeys) to Tyler Durden (Fight Club) to Lt. Aldo Raine (Inglourious Basterds), Pitt is just plain FUN to watch.2) George Clooney - it's really close between him and Pitt, but unfortunately for Clooney he was part of a television drama that outlived it's lifespan (E.R.) and one of the worst superhero films in history (Batman & Robin). George, I know it's not right to demote you based upon those two facts...but I am. Otherwise, Clooney has presented a wonderfully SUBTLE and yet profoundly human set of performances over the years. I think for Clooney fans there's likely a single performance they always think of when they hear his name, for me that performance is in The American, a beautiful and tragic film about life, impending death, and the values you ascribe to those things.3) Matt Damon - excels at Matt Damon Face***I kid, I kid...or do I? I love Matt Damon movies, but I'm not sure that I love Matt Damon. He often seems to be portraying the same character, and usually that character is a closed book. But give the man his due, he's been as successful, if not more so than the other two on the list. So, maybe I'm just jealous I don't have Damon face...* not actually Matt Damon, but rather, "MATT DAMON!"** Sci Fi Damon Face

Why don't people talk with the same accent that American royalties Marilyn Monroe or Jackie Kennedy spoke in?

Both Jackie O. and Marilyn Monroe spoke with a breathy, little girl voice. I wouldn't call their way of speaking necessarily an accent, however. Although such a voice might appeal to some men, it's probably not particularly empowering or effective in presenting a business presentation.

Marilyn lived with foster parents until age seven in Hawthorne, California, in Southwestern Los Angeles County. Migrants from the Dust Bowl, who most probably spoke with a Southern drawl, settled in Hawthorne during the early 1930s. Since numerous voice coaches crafted Marilyn's image, it's doubtful that her real roots in Southern California are noticeable any more than her naturally light brown hair under all that platinum blonde.

Jacqueline Bouivier Kennedy was born in Southampton, New York, and spent her early years in New York City and East Hampton, New York. A New York version of the General or Middle American accent as used by upper-class speakers influenced her accent and speech patterns. That said, public relations firms (as Minerva has previously mentioned) influenced Jackie's image and her public speaking voice.

Although television has erased some of the differences in regional American accents, most national newscasters and trained actors continue to use a more or less standardized Middle American dialect that they used in the 1950s. Of course, some regional accents, such as the Southern drawl used by Presidents Bill Clinton, Jimmy Carter, and George W. Bush are still common in the South and Southwest. Connecticut-born and New England preppie trained Bush most likely exaggerated his Texas accent on times on purpose, however. Former Alaska Governor and Republican Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin speaks with an accent most common to Scandinavian settlers in the Upper Midwest.

Perhaps you remember regional dialects more because they do stand out among the sea of neutral-sounding speakers. Ordinarily, the Middle American dialect is associated with higher levels of education. The more formal education a speaker has, the fewer regional and social characteristics he or she usually shows in formal settings. Of course, this doesn't hold for many speakers who appear on reality television shows.
