Remember Y2K? When the clock was going to hit midnight on the year 2000, the world was going to explode. Or something like that. The K stands for a G(grand).
Why do people say the world will end in 2012?
Because another cynical con artist concocted another of the thousands of dumb doomsday prophecies that have been uttered for centuries, and many people are gullibhle and perverse enough to believe such kuso and too lazy to even bother to check on it. Jesus said that he would return before all of the people hearing his sermons died, according to Matthew. As AD 1000 neared, there was a deluge of doomsday prophecies. I can list many more, but everyone should get the idea. I have bet some people $1000 apiece that doomsday will not occur in 2012. I am quite certain it will not.
If someone says the world will end at day X, will the world really end at that very day because someone said so?
In a way we all have our own unique perception of the world. Once I die, my world dies with me. To me it’ll be the end of the world and end of everything. After that, I couldn’t care less, as I am not being. Pretty soon all the people who knew me, die as well, so I’ll become “non-existent” part of universe like 100 billion people before me. It’s rather comforting, that I don’t have to live or be forever. That would suck!So. One may end his/her life any day he/she wants, and it’ll sadly be the end of that unique perception of word, universe and everything.
If the Bible says the world is 2000 years old what do they say about dinosaurs, geological formations, etc.?
If we are honest about the bible we will have to admit that it's muddled, full of contradictions, historically inaccurate, scientifically inaccurate, contradictory and misleading and the New Testament isn't much better than the Old Testament in this respect. The gospels contradict each other and several of the epistles attributed to Paul were obviously not written by him. The bible has been proved over and over again to be wrong concerning the age of the earth. Worse still, it isn't even the best guide to morality. Works such as the Dharmapada are much better. The bible says nothing about either dinosaurs or geological formations and teaches belief in a flat earth with the sun, moon and stars travelling round it. It also portrays God as some kind of 'Daddy in the sky' who keeps on shouting down, often in very nasty ways, to people. He's petulant and does nasty things such as striking dead a man who placed his hand on the ark of the covenant in a thoughtful act to steady it. Such a god obviously knew nothing about dinosaurs or life in general and how it has evolved, for which there is overwhelming evidence, which is a great deal more than can be said honestly for much of what appears in the bible. Truth is a beautiful thing. Sadly, you won't find an awful lot of it in the bible.
What did the world look like 2000 years ago and we returned it to that state?
The roman empire was starting to crumble; but, it still had a lot of land and power. It had enough power that they could convict an innocent man based upon gossip and fear of His messages; and crucify Him. Which was a horrible way to die ! 2,000 years ago, if as an 'accident of birth' you were born into the elite of the roman empire - you had a very good deal. There were two major flaws: one, you might be "off the bubble" in your head, because you were an incest baby, two, your father, mother, brothers or sisters might murder you - so they could get more power. 2,000 years ago, especially in Israel, if you were in the 'right' sect of priests - you had a darn good deal. If you were in the wrong 'sect' - you were the step child and / or you were exiled to the desert to form a little community of outcasts (read, Essences). If you were a well to do merchant - you had a good gig. Although, if not a roman citizen; the taxes were incredibly high. If you were one of the vast majority of illiterate and unwashed masses; it was a tough world. Let's say you lived in some little village, worked hard all year to have a 'cash crop' and the roman army came through: the soldiers would rape the women, kill and eat everything that had life in it, eat up all of your hard worked for food; and then burn your village to the ground. And the roman tax collector came by regularly and took every nickel you could scrape together. If you resisted, they'd slaughter you on the spot. They might murder you (assuming you are male) just because they could. Now, as to explosives, in the tunnels, under that mulim shrine ! That is most likely wishful thinking. And, I'll tell you why: the muslims - one day soon - will place a nuclear device inside their shrine and threaten to blow the entire country up ! (read, the abomination that makes things desolate).

If you knew the world was going to end tomorrow, would you change your religious outlook, party like crazy, or something else?
I am not sure how this would make any difference. If one keeps the religious outlook, believing in unchangeable fate, the world will end nevertheless. If one throws everything away and parties like crazy until the end, the world will change nevertheless. How come everytime somebody mentions Jesus they say 2000 years ago and we're in 2015?
It's easier than being honest. There is no mention of Jesus specifically in the 200 years after his supposed birth. Christianity and Christ refers to a messiah, to which a large cult was awaiting the return of in those 200 years. The one mention of Jesus by name during that time is a known forgery. None of the gospels were thought to have been written until after that time. When we dig into the reasons we believe the gospels were written in 60ad-90ad but share sources with far later papers is called the synoptic problem. One cannot borrow from a story that hasn't been written yet. This causes the dates to slip further an further away from the claimed lifetime of Jesus. There is not enough information and too many documents were forged or otherwise lost to time for any definitive understanding. 2000 years ago- is easier than explaining why we cant even be sure he existed at all.

Given the current mess the world is in compared to 2,000 years ago, why doesn't God send his son/daughter down again to try to restore a balanced humanity? Maybe he needs to do this ever few years.
