How long does it take for Ohio state tax refunds?

Always in the past in Ohio the refunds happen in approx. 7-10 days. I have personally received mine in 6 days. This is all depending on what time of the week you filed your tax return.

We don't have any precedence for 2008 tax returns yet, but I believe it should be about the same as in past years.

Living in Kentucky but working in Indiana. How are state taxes done?

Not sure, but this info may help you:
Living in One Taxable State But Working In Another Taxable State
When you live in a state that collects income taxes but work in another state, which also has income taxes, you may fear having to pay taxes twice. It's true that you'll have to pay taxes on your earnings in both states. You will need to file a nonresident return for the state in which you work, plus a normal resident return for the state in which you live. However, the situation is not as bad as it may seem. That's because while you have to file income taxes in both states, the state in which you live will give you a credit for any taxes paid to the nonresident state.

Paying State Taxes in Reciprocal State
A total of 18 states have reciprocal agreements with other states. These agreements allow individuals who live in one state to request an exemption so that their wages do not get withheld in a reciprocal state. So assuming that you work and live in two different states but the two states have a reciprocal agreement, you could ask the state in which you work for an exemption form, which you would fill out and hand to your employer. You then have to file a return for your resident state. If you do this, ask your employer to withhold taxes for your resident state. If it can't, you'll need to make estimated quarterly tax payments to the state in which you live.

Received a 1099-G last week from my city of Toledo, Ohio. I've already filed my 2008 taxes what should I do?

In box 2 named state or local income tax refunds, credits, or offsets it lists $32.06. In the box below that it says the amount in box 2 is for the tax year 2007. I have no idea what this is for or how to amend my taxes for it.

What are the penalties for claiming exempt on your income taxes and then not filing a return for several years?

There may be perfectly legitimate reason for claiming an exempt status. According to Employee's Withholding Allowance CertificateIf an employee qualifies, he or she can also use Form W-4 to tell you not to deduct any federal income tax from his or her wages. To qualify for this exempt status, the employee must have had no tax liability for the previous year and must expect to have no tax liability for the current year.If you have no tax liability and do not have to file a return, there is no penalty at all, it is only if you are committing fraud that you have a problem.
