In The State Of Tn Is It Legal To Have A Baby At 17 With A 18 Year Old

Is it legal for me to date a 22-year-old man as a 16-year-old girl?

There seems to be some confusion over the law, I’ll give information for that over large scales. The average age of consent in the US is 16, but many states differ. The highest age of consent in the United States is 18. The Age of Consent is 18 in eleven states - California, New York, Florida, Oregon, Utah, Iowa, Arkansas, Tennessee, West Virginia, Vermont, and Delaware. The closeness of age exemption under the age of consent on average is set at 3 years, but there are many states that differ than that. Colorado’s age of consent is 17, but the closeness of age exception for 14 is plus four years, 15 is plus 10 years, 16 is plus 10 years. So in Colorado a 15 year old could have sex with a 25 year old.The lowest state Age of Consent in the United States is 16. This is the most common age of consent, and is adopted by Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Georgia, Hawaii, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Vermont, Washington, and West Virginia. Some other states are set at 17 marked in gold below.Source: Age of consent - WikipediaAs you can see from the above map, most of the world is below 18. Much of Europe is bellow 16, and they have the lowest rates of teen pregnancy in the world, the US has the highest rates of teen pregnancy in the developed world. For example, Denmark’s age of consent is 15, and their rate of teen pregnancy is 6.2 per 1000 which is 7 x lower than the US rate of 43 per 1000. This however is due to their sex education, availability of contraceptives, and the northern countries allow their teens to have sex in the comfort and safety of their own bedrooms rather than outside somewhere where they might not have contraceptives and the parents don’t know who they are with like in the US.

Can a 17 year old date a 21 year old?

I will simply respond from a perspective of love, not legality. Others have covered that well in their answers. You two can do whatever you wish, and you can probably not be bothered by being caught. This practice was common 100+ years ago. But, here’s the truth, maturity increases the odds of a successful marriage. Lesser ages at marriage wreck most marriages within in decade. If you don’t want a long successful marriage, and prefer chaos, family dysfunction, and divorce prove the odds wrong. Pick the slowest horse in the race, in fact pick the horse that coughs, limps, and is losing its vision.Or just wait until the youngest partner turns 22. If you can wait until 28, the odds get much better. And, the 4 year difference is nearly a numerical issue. Not, a fundamental obstacle. The power imbalance between the partners never seems as big of a problem as it always turns out to be. This is usually a problem for couples of about the same age too, but it is easier to work out when there is no significante development differences in the start.Just because you can do something unwise, doesn’t mean it will work. So, let me repeat what I always answer about this question, “Can I date/marry my girlfriend she’s 10 years older than me?”I always say, “Sure, just wait until 2028.”

Is it illegal to date a 22 year old if you are 16?

I have yet to see any state within the US have any laws making it illegal to just date someone- regardless of their ages.

If you are also in a sexual relationship- now that's another story. The age of consent in TN is 18, so yes it will be illegal for the two of you to be in a sexual relationship.
If he would be charged with being in a sexual relationship with you- under TN state law, since he is more than 4 yrs older than you- he can be charged with a Felony, be incarcerated for a period of 2-6 yrs in prison & have to register as a Sex Offender for the rest of his life.

If you two are just dating- keep it that way until you turn 18. If you are in a sexual relationship or thinking about taking your relationship to a more intimate level- watch out- you both will be playing with fire & he is the one who can get the most severely burned.

A felony conviction on his criminal record will prevent him from being able to vote, he will not be able to own or purchase any firearms, it will prevent him from being able to get some jobs. in fact it will make it harder to get any job, make it very difficult to get loans and prevent him from qualifying for many loans. Basically- a Statutory Rape conviction could ruin his life.

Tennessee

§ 39-13-506

Statutory rape to sexually penetrate a person at least age 13 but less than age 18 if the actor is at least four years older than the victim. Any actor under age 18 must be tried as a juvenile and cannot be transferred to adult court.

Two to six years in prison

Is it legal for a 17-year-old boy to impregnate a 15-year-old girl?

That would depend on the State or country.

Assuming you are in the US see the link below and search for your State.

Some States regard it as a felony even if both parties are under the Age of Consent. Some State allow a 'close age exemption' if both parties are near in age.

The second link gives more info and a worldwide perspective.

I can't comment on how your CO would handle the situation.

Additional: Unfortunately the Tennessee Laws are not clear when both parties are below age of consent [18 in Tennessee]. Perhaps the parents goodwill will make a difference as to charges being pressed.

Sorry, you will need specific legal advice on this one.

Additional: I found another link for you see below..

"What this means is that if the girl is between age 13 and 18 she can consent to have sex with someone up to
four years older than she is, but for anyone older than that it is statutory rape, and for any girl less than 13, she is
too young to consent to having sex with anyone."

In the state of Kansas, if a 17 year old boy gets a 15 year old girl pregnant, what would happen?

Age of consent in Kansas is 16. It is a felony for anyone over the age of consent to have any sort of sexual contact with anyone older than 14, but less than 16. According to Kansas law 21-3503, it is called "Indecent liberties with a child." So if you've ever kissed her, it's statutory rape.

Now that she's pregnant, the hospital staff has to report statutory rape, as she was underage when she got pregnant. It is still a crime. The baby is all the proof they need.

20 dating a 17 year old in Tennessee?

First of all, you're fine. It's even seems to be legal for you to have sex in Tennessee (Consult a LAWYER for real legal advice - I'm not a lawyer!):

Note that the age of consent is 18, but there is a 4 year "close in age" exception. Wikipedia is not always up to date though - I caught an error in Louisiana law recently.

It was a good idea for you to back off. She CAN forbid her son from seeing you until he's 18, and can have a restraining order taken out. If you have a way to communicate with his Mom, I recommend that you reach out to her and declare your intentions. For example - did you know he was skipping school, and are you a part of that? One great way to patch things a bit is to tell her that you had no idea and you will reinforce that he can't skip school.

If you feel this way, you might also say something like, "I know that [Bf's name] and I both still have a lot of growing up to do over the next ten years and who knows what will happen, but I feel very strongly for him and think this relationship might be one that lasts. I want to make sure I stay on good terms with you. If that means not seeing him until he's 18 ok, but I hope we can continue to see each other with your blessing and appropriate limits."

P.S. Him staying at your house is NOT evidence of anything. I *LOVE* Caroline's response about him having sex with his mom... though I recommend against saying that to her. :-o

How old do you have to be to buy spray paint, in the State of TN U.S.A?

In looking at the Tennessee Code, I do not find an age restriction. I believe that certain cities have enacted city laws though. The purpose is to prevent juveniles from (1) spraying graffiti on buildings, and (2) sniffing the fumes. If you are under 18 and have a legitimate use for spray paint, your parent or guardian can purchase it for you.

18 getting a 16 year old pregnant tn?

Ok my friend is 18 and his gf is 16. Her dad tried pressing charges because the bf and gf are protected by the Romeo and Juliet laws so they can't do anything legally against the bf. Question is, if she's pregnant can they do anything against him?
