In This Y A Format How Am I Suppose To Know If Someone Commented On My Answer If It Does

NEW FORMAT... do you have the same problems & concerns I do?

I severely dislike the new format of YA! and have many issues with it as well.
I agree with you that it isn't very user friendly nor thoughtful in design.

There also seems to be a glitch where sometimes when I ask a question, I'll be able to see it, but nobody else can...and thus it never gets answered. Maybe that is why there seems to be fewer questions being asked in some categories because the new YA! is eating them up instead of posting them.

I also noticed problem number 2 that you mentioned. Another strange glitch.
They might as well just keep the old one if they don't have the time to fix it... There are very few perks to the new one....and is overall just a downgrade.

The only positive thing about it is being able to see the images/or video on the answers without having to click on the link if one is posted. However, I would much rather lose this new addition and keep the old format.

Usually when website formats change on other sites, there will be a few days of complaints, but most people will get use to it after those few days (such as facebook youtube, etc.) but no matter how many times I use the new YA! I can't get use to it at all and there has been complaints for about a month.

I think one improvement they could make is to have the left side bar be colored purple. RIght now it's on a very light grey background and it visually blends in too much with the white center body of the page. Just having more contrast between the sidebars and the main body can be more of an improvement in its design.

Where are my yahoo comment notifications?

When I comment on a yahoo article and someone replies or thumbs ups it I used to get a notification on the top right of my screen when looking at another yahoo article. Since yahoo's new design, this box no longer exists and I am therefore not getting my notifications. I know I should be getting notifications because I have checked back on my comments and seen replies, etc. Any ideas? The response to "where are my notifications" on yahoo's help page no longer exists. Go figure.

How do you comment on 'long time no see'?

“Yeah I know, hows it going?”I know this is Quora so people like to post unusually formatted answers. But they tend to marvel at their own italiced writing skill rather than answer the question, so there you go.. the simple response to that comment.

Editing (Quora feature): How does one create bullet points in comments?

When composing comments, you don’t get the same formatting buttons you get when composing answers, so the formatting options are a little mysterious. However, you can still insert both numbered and bulleted lists. The following works when composing answers as well as comments:To start a numbered list, type “1.” at the start of a paragraph or blank line (i.e., after a hard line break) and press the space key. The comment editor will automatically convert the paragraph to a one-item numbered list. To start a bulleted list, type an asterisk (“*”) at the start of a line and press space. When the text caret is inside a list item and you press ENTER, it starts a new item. The new item will include any trailing text from the previous item, if the caret wasn’t at the end of the previous item’s text. You can use TAB and SHIFT-TAB to increase and decrease the indent (i.e., the item level). I believe that you can’t skip levels. So, for instance, the first list item has to be at the top level; the next item can be at the top level or indented once, and so forth. To exit list mode, start a new, empty item by pressing ENTER and then press ENTER again. If you were not at the top level indent, you will have to press ENTER more times.

Why is Quora more popular than Yahoo Answers? What elements make it the more popular Q&A site?

A couple of years back, early 2015 I guess, I wanted to know about the basics of big data and its importance in industry.I googled “What is Big data”The first link popped up was Wikipedia - I opened in a new tab and set it aside. The second link was from Yahoo answers. I opened and was looking for some useful information. There were answers like:I was confused, irritated and most of the answers didn’t answer the question. The next link which popped was from Quora.I could find answers like this:Answer was by Balaji Viswanathan (பாலாஜி விஸ்வநாதன்) sir. That is the moment I followed him and read his other answers too! And that was the moment i decided not to refer yahoo answers for anything in future.Unlike Yahoo answers, Why was the answer better? It summed up all the information - technical explanation with real life examplesPictures made it easier for me to connect with answerThe credential “Ran a Big data company” made me believe the answer is from someone trustworthy.Upvotes and comments of appreciation from people in related field made me feel secured about the answerComments were healthy and was debating its future application. So, with no further discussions, Quora is always better than Yahoo answers.

Which one is correct? “please let me know if you have any question” or ”please let me know if you have any questions”

"Question" is not ungrammatical, but "questions" is much more usual. It's more a matter of logic and courtesy than grammar: "question" presumes/implies that the listener is allowed only one question, which is a bit imperious.

Has yahoo made any announcements about another Answers format change?

i had to logout and login twice to get the normal Answers back.

the red+purple color scheme is an improvement, but its not worth losing the categories and pinned categories. i'll put a pic up with the new on the top and the regular on the bottom...everything below is the same.

Has yahoo made any announcements?

When writing a date in roman numerals, do you put the month or the day first?

I am getting a tattoo in honor of my mom who beat breast cancer. She had a double mastectomy(sp?) on 9-29-2009. I want to get that date an the breast cancer ribbon as a tattoo. Then only problem is I'm not quite sure how to arrange the numbers. I've had some people tell me when you write a date in roman numerals the month comes first(month-day-year). But I have seen alot of tattoos that have it written day-month-year. So I'm just wondering which way is right or if it really matters which way it's written. Thanks!

Should you say "I'm well" or "I'm good" when someone asks how you are?

Where I come from, "Very well, thank you" is the only traditionally acceptable response, and in exactly those words.  It reflects the fact that the original "How are you?" isn't actually a question but a formulaic utterance, the purpose of which is to give the other person a moment to gather their thoughts, remember (if they can) where they've met you before, and decide whether they want to continue the conversation.  As such it requires an equally formulaic response.Once the "How are you?", "Very well, thank you" exchange is completed, the participants are free either to start a real conversation or to go away having politely acknowledged each other's existence.
