What is a multinational company? (explain briefly )?

Economists are not in agreement as to how multinational or transnational corporations should be defined. Multinational corporations have many dimensions and can be viewed from several perspectives, ownership, management, strategy and structural, etc.

The most common criterion is the presence of Foreign Direct Investments.

Some argue that ownership is a key criterion. A firm becomes multinational only when the headquarter or parent company is effectively owned by nationals of two or more countries.

An international company is multinational if the managers of the parent company are nationals of several countries. Usually, managers of the headquarters are nationals of the home country. This may be a transitional phenomenon. Very few companies pass this test currently.

Something about the multinational companies?

They welcome them for the most part.

Disadvantages, U.S. jobs are lost while immigration is on the rise, more polution, poorer U.S. population, peoples lives rouined and forced to work in inhumane conditions, global poverty, exploited 3rd world countries for pennies, they control our government and part of military, our tax dollars go to their funding and not the right places, loss of safty nets ie. welfare medicare medicade schools hospitals and to top it all off the officals we elect are responceable for it because they do favors for them for funding their campaines.

the government welcomes them because they fund their campaines. Educated people worry because they are aware of the race to the bottom theory and all the hell it is bringing.
