Indigenous Integration Into Modern Society

Indigenous integration into modern society?

in brazil and japan; there are books and articles on the japanese utari/ainu; who since 1600s were conquered by the japanese; and assimilated; but they still face discrimination in how society treats them at least in social relation; and some ainu parents do not tell their children about their heritage; due to keeping their kids from encountering discrimination; as in brazil many amazonian peoples who had their forest cut down; had to move to cities; and had to adapt to surviving on a gov pay check; while encountering both offensive relations with the other ethnic groups and also avoiding things like drugs; and alcohol; and the local gang warfare.

Indigenous education is extremely important to the education system. We need to know and understand what we don’t know if we want to be truly educated. Indigenous education in the past has been one-sided (Eurocentric) and often filled with stereotypes and falsehoods.Including the history and culture of Indigenous people in the education system affirms how important their contributions have been to society as a whole. Acknowledging and building understanding of the generational impact that government abuses have had on Indigenous people and their communities is very important in helping build respectful relations with Indigenous communities. We can learn a lot about our world through studying Indigenous culture and language. Indigenous youth benefit from having their realities, experiences and contributions woven throughout science, history, literature. Seeing themselves as part of the curriculum is important in ensuring they feel they are an integral part of society.

Why do atheists refuse to integrate into modern society!?

Ihave known very few and they did not "combine into society" in any respect. Their lives were"uncertain, undesirable, nasty, brutish and short". And devoid of the sexual nerves to make sex even remotely pleasant. The hubby or wifey of their desires needs children and they don't look in a position to assist, so a comfortable marriage isn't on the playing cards. That likely ability some abusive relationship, as they received't be taken heavily.. I really have merely known 3 MtoF transsexuals. All are lifeless now, one by her own hand. She looked really marvelous in gown-up outfits, yet you may't do the paying for or take a bus in feathers, silks and sequins. the different change into murdered by a guy she'd picked up at the same time as he got here upon the reality - a superbly good-searching center-elderly guy, by the way, no wild guy. The third is likely really one of the most unattractive man or woman, I really have ever considered – not a probability of any style of relationship, and that i do not propose merely gruesome to look at, a nasty piece of work, bitter, embittered. All have had to stay a existence contained in the shadows, because it were. yet everyone has to "attempt to regulate".

By integration you meanSpeaking and understanding the language fluently. An education that is relevant in western societyA ordinary job; or other source of income, similar to the average of native western society.High workforce-participation for both gendersIf that is the case i think most Turks would agree that integration is necessary. However i notice there is another criteria included in another quora page which is:Shared belief in and respect for some of the most crucial parts of our laws and culture; for example respect for free speech and gender-equality.Shared belief and respect for free speech and gender-equality doesn’t mean same thing in both western societies and Turkish minority. Some Turks are offended what you call free speech. Such as insulting our religious figures. And i think most western societies feel threatened when they see someone practising Islam or show an effection to their native country. Note that someone defending his/her religion/country doesn’t make her/him an anti-Christ/fanatic/not open to integration…etc. And about gender-equality you think that women in our society oppressed just because some of them wear head-scarf or popularly known hijab. You claim to defend their rights but you ignore the fact most of the time it is their free choice- something belong to their culture and belief. In fact you are insulting them by looking down their choices. It may not be similar to your choices but for many women dressing modestly is also freedom.

Why would a Muslim need to integrate into a free-society?

I have heard people say that Muslims need to do a better job at integrating into Western societies. However, I also hear that Western societies are free-societies, and that that is the ideal that they were created on. These two concepts are at odds with one another. Being forced to integrate into a free-society is like joining an anarchist organization. The basis of a free society does not require integration of its citizens, just as the basis of anarchy is opposed to established order!

I believe that all systems of governments have flaws which eventually make them unsustainable. I think that the idea of Muslims having to integrate into society highlights to flaws of a free-society. The only integration required by a free-society are that the citizens abide by the law. No further integration is required.

France, Holland, Switzerland, and other European countries can no longer claim to be free-societies because they have unlawfully restricted freedoms of their Muslim citizens to protect their National traditions and identity. But this is ironic, because they identify themselves as free-societies, when in reality they are not.

Its the same as when the US encouraged democracy all over the world, but when the Palestinians elects Hamas, its not counted as democracy to them. This is an ugly type of hypocracy. I understand that Muslim countries are not free societies, so I am not saying they are better or worse. But the difference is that they don't claim to be free and open societies, while it increasingly seems like Western nations misrepresent themselves in this regard.

What do you guys think? As long as Muslims (or anyone) follows the laws of a society, should any further integration be required? If so, isn't this against the principals of a free-society? Is it worth sacrificing the ideal of a free-society to protect national identity and traditions?

Will Hispanics be integrated into American society in 30-40 years?

I don't care if they are considered white, blue, green or puce. The problem with the idea of integrating them into American Society is that with the "celebration" of diversity and the open pandering to minority constituencies being practiced by politicians it is hardly a positive step for any Hispanic to become integrated. They stand to benefit by remaining ESL, flying Mexican flags and demanding the return of California. That way they remain genuinely Hispanic.

In doing this they will merely be following the lead of the African-American community which has aggressively resisted assimilating into the European-American culture and instead demanded that the Europeans move toward their culture.

While there are clearly benefits from a multi-cultural society, there are also costs in maintaining distinct societies which do not assimilate.

Many Australian’s (especially those of 4 generations or more) have a tad or a lot of aborigine blood in them, many don’t know it or don’t acknowledge it,some of these people live lives very typical of the rest of the people in the Nation,in regional and remote areas there are more people who declare their aboriginality, many of these also live lives which are typically mainstream, there are some however who maintain their separateness, although genetic studies show that there are very few that don’t have at least a bit of European DNA in them, many shameful and grievous sins were committed on aboriginies in the past, the Australian Governments have been throwing money at this problem for a long while, for a section of the Aboriginie community it dosen’t seem to have had much of an effect, the Governments are a bit clueless as to what to do about it,i have worked in public health in Regional Areas since 1973,i have many cousins and friends who have some aboriginie blood in them, and i have been to school and worked with them all of my life, many of them have done very well, but some have not, some central issues that are essential to understand-there is not one coherent aborigine nation, the aborigines of Australia are more generically and culturally diverse than the people of Europe.there is a lot of animosity between Aborigine clans.many aborigine people are not terribly interested in the accrual of wealth, they are very interested in group loyalty and kinship.the ways and culture of modern times are very hollow and not spiritual nourishing for them.the western diet is an absolute disaster for many of them and leaves them chronically ill.their is a fair bit of racism towards them from some people , but also a lot of affection towards them from others.its not widely published, but many mainstream Australian’s feel very sad for these people and are overjoyed when they see them doing well , …..for instance the successes of Evonne Goolagong, Cathy Freeman, Ernie Dingo, David Gulpillil and Noel Pearson

Is vegetarianism fully integrated and accepted in modern society??

What an outstanding question!! Put the shoe on the other foot, and you get a chance to start working out new ideas. Lets have a go then. I don't really know for sure what the expats do in other countries but I suspect that it varies according to the culture of the host country and its culture. I've long been a believer that you should have many different robust home cultures around the world, so that you can have variety and diversity available (eg fish & chips from UK, paella from spain, pizza from Italy, curry from India, chicken fried rice from china etc). These home cultures should then be able to play host to other different (almost guest) cultures, so that the host community gets to experience them as well. However these so called guest cultures are coming from other places, and in those places you would also want that culture to be the host. Needless to say you therefore want many different hosts to be robust and strong and confident in order to preserve the availability of all these different flavours in the world, because otherwise there is a danger that everything would end up the same and become unbearably boring. This model of confident host cultures around the world maintaining their original identities then, whilst the emmigrant communities carry that outwards to be guests elsewhere, probably doesn't match up to the current models and expectations of integration and multiculturalism, but if we could show that finding the right balance would actually protect other cultures, then we might have a platform from which to approach this subject. It's a shame that more cultures around the world can't be more confident about their identity, because there is much variety to proud of in the world at the moment, and I fear that if we can't get onto a celebration of that soon, we may start seeing too much merging / fusion and the loss of various unique, unusual and valuable minority cultures.
