Information About Ivy Leageu

INFORMATION ON THE IVY LEAGUE!!!?

They are all excellent schools, as are many others in the USA.
They accept about 7% of the applicants each year. You can also get in if your family is prominent, even if you are a doofus [G.W. Bush went to Yale undergrad and Harvard grad].

You will have to take the SAT or the ACT standardized examination. Once you have your score, you can see which colleges are accepting applicants with your credentials at collegeboard.com and/or princetonreview.com

There are many excellent liberal arts colleges in the USA where you can get an excellent education and then qualify for a graduate degree at one of the major "name" schools.

BTW, the "Ivy League" is an athletic conference.

Why don't Ivy League colleges and Stanford offer an information system bachelor?

IS trains people to be IT techs and Ivy plus schools don't delve into that type of education. You can get a degree in engineering (hardware) or coding/programming (software). The latter is sometimes in the engineering college or program and sometimes in the arts and sciences program (aligned with or in the math department). I am guessing that many of the same topics are covered in one or the other, plus a whole lot of topics in greater depth.

Can anyone share some information about students' scores who got into Ivy League with average scores?

I will never understand athletic recruitment. A girl from my school was accepted to Harvard earlier this year with a 27 on the ACT. Keep in mind, this was after extensive tutoring after she first received a 22. She’s definitely not the best at her sport, but she was at least passing her classes, so they took her. Meanwhile, my public school has 20+ National Merit Semi Finalists trying to get into Ivy Leagues. Since schools have quotas, that’s one less spot for a high achieving student.

What are my chances of getting into Stanford or an Ivy League school?

I am currently a junior and go to a school in Los Angeles. I want to know my chances of getting into an Ivy League and/or Stanford. Background information about me: I am Asian (Filipino specifically), low-income (less than $40,000 a year for 4 people), and I will be ranked #2 out of about 430 people in my class. My unweighted GPA is 3.95 and my weighted is 4.25. Freshman year I took: H Biology, H Algebra 2, PE, Health/Life Skills, H Spanish 1, and H English 9. Sophomore year I took: Spanish 2, AP Environmental Science, AP Human Geography, H English 10, Math Analysis, AP World History, PE, and Photography. This year I am taking Spanish 3, AP US History, AP Calculus AB, AP Psychology, H Physiology, AP English Language, and a calculus supplement class that was mandatory at my school if you take AP Calc AB. Next year I am taking AP Statistics, AP US Government, AP American Literature, AP Art History, and AP Chemistry. I have had straight A's since 9th grade except for 2 B's: one in PE (I know it's embarrassing) and one in Math Analysis (all because of one test :/) I have taken the SAT's only once so far. This year I was too pre-occupied with studying for AP testing, that I winged the SAT's earlier this month. I received a score of 1680. I will be taking the subject tests for US History, Biology (E), and World History next week. For the October SAT's, I will actually study for it and hope to get a score higher than 2000 (my goal). I have been part of Key Club since 9th grade, I am currently vice president (and former secretary) of our school's chapter of the California Scholarship Federation (CSF), and I am also co-president (former treasurer) of Gear-Up, which helps mentor kids about college. I have been involved in student government since sophomore year. I am currently Publicity Commissioner for our school's Junior Class Officers (JCO) and I will be part of the Senior Class Officers (SCO) next year.

Can I get into an Ivy league College?

Get into an Ivy League college is extremely hard. Each year, most of the top students get rejected. I know a guy who took 14 AP classes and got top scores on 11 of them but couldn't get in. That's how hard it is. All of the Ivy Leagues colleges have an acceptance rate of less than 10%. That means each student has the probability of less than 10% of getting in. But there's no age requirement for applying to colleges, you can apply to any college you want as long as you are eligible for the admission requirements. I suggest you to look for another school that offers AP classes because you should take at least some AP classes to show colleges that you're prepared for college. If you can score at least a 3 on any AP exam in May, you can earn college credits while in high school. By the time you get into college, you can graduate college in 3 years and save thounsands of dollars. To get into a competitive school, you need a high GPA, above 3.8, score above 2200 on the SAT, ask your teachers to write you recommendations for colleges, join a few clubs, you don't need to necessarily do sports if you hate them. There's many options. Do the things you love. For example, you can join the debate club or any math club if you like math. It all counts for extracurricular activities. You can also do some community services or volunteer in hospitals.

Can someone answer my question?

Can I get information about economics majors in Princeton and Cornell, and maybe a few other ivy league universities?

Start here: https://www.topuniversities.com/..., and then go to the websites of the universities you picked off the list. For example, Cornell's economics website is at https://economics.cornell.edu/. Cornell also has programs in agricultural economics and agricultural marketing. Recently, Cornell consolidated a lot of its business and economics programs into a new College of Business whose website is at https://business.cornell.edu/.

I have already finished my masters in computer information science with a GPA of 3.81 where I majored in business analytics. What are my chances to get an admit for a MBA program from Ivy League with a major in people/comm/finance?

The most important piece of information is missing. What does your resume look like? None of the top MBA programs admit candidates without significant work experience. The “startup” during college that went nowhere doesn’t count, no matter how you try and spin it. Flipping burgers in high school or college doesn’t count. Significant work experience means post-college, professional experience of at least a couple years - ideally with increasing responsibility (or even promotions) along the way.The will care about your GMAT score as well. And a bit about your undergraduate education. But none of that will matter if you don’t have professional work experience and the letters of recommendation showing you were successful in your work life. An MBA is a professional degree, not an academic one. They will want to know you have the skills to succeed in that world before they invest one of their spots.BTW - only 4 of the top 10 business schools are Ivies. You may want to cast a wider net.

What sports do Ivy League schools play?

The schools have a variety of sports, including football, field hockey, tennis, lacrosse, basketball, soccer, ice hockey, crew, and others. If you go to the website for each one, you will find info about the Athletics offered at each institution. If you want to know numbers of participation of each sport at each school, you might be able to get that info from the individual schools.
