Iphone In Microwave Screen Comes On But Doesn

Could my microwave mess up my cell phone?

If you can get another device that has the same service provider as you then put your SIM card in the other device and see what happens. If your SIM does the same thing in the other phone then it is just the SIM that is bad. If your SIM works in the other device then it is your phone that has gone bad

What would happen if you put your cell phone in the microwave?

Very bad reception, probably zero. A microwave oven is designed as a Faraday cage  to keep microwaves inside, and will be equally effective at keeping cellular radio signals out. (The door is fitted with a conducting metal screen with holes rather less than one wavelength across, and the seal is sometimes fitted with a metal conducting braid to make a continuous conductor across the edge.)One lady I talked to put her cellphone in a microwave on a boat in a lightning storm; the boat was hit and most electronics were damaged by the intense electric fields, but the cellphone was unharmed, protected by the Faraday cage.If you turn on the oven, then the phone will almost certainly be damaged - the microwave electromagnetic radiation will induce currents in conducting elements in the phone, and induce voltages across gaps between conductors which will almost certainly exceed the breakdown voltage of solid-state components in the phone (CPU chip etc.). These voltages can also exceed the breakdown voltage of air, leading to arcing, which will damage components by eroding the metal surface and depositing molten drops of metal elsewhere. The induced currents will probably be large enough to create a significant heating effect, melting solder and plastic. It may even catch fire; flames are a plasma, which is conducting, so I believe a microwave can pump energy directly into flames making them even hotter.

Accidentally microwaved iPhone?

My mother woke up with a sore neck and instead of putting the towel in the microwave she put her phone. It was in a hard plastic case and was on for about 15 seconds. The case lit on fire thats all. Its an iPhone 5 what should we do?

What could be happening if my iPhone doesn’t ever respond the first time I touch to select? I do have a physical reaction to EMFs.

There is no medical or scientific evidence for Electromagnetic Hypersensitivity.Your cell phone tends to use very low power modes unless you are making an emergency call; then it turns the power up to 11 on a scale from 1–10. Even then, your Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) is going to be very low.The SAR limit for the iPhone is set at 2.0 W/kg (over 10 g).Frankly you get more exposure from a McDonald’s microwave oven. And since they are not ionizing… it doesn’t matter. People rarely differentiate, and panic when they hear “Electromagnetic Radiation”.The most common cause for insensitivity of an iPhone display to first touch is that the iPhone’s touch screen — and most touchscreen devices, for that matter — operate through a process called “capacitive coupling”.The way this works is that you are a big meat grounding rod. The glass on the front of the iPhone is a dielectric, and the surface is charged with a weak charge on the other side of the glass. When you touch the screen, you become the second half of a capacitor.Things which can interfere with this are adding an insulator layer, making the dielectric thicker. Things in this category are:A “screen protector”GreaseOilA case which fully encloses the displayCalluses on your fingers — the surface of your skin is dead for the first few layers, and thus does not contain enough water to couple, if you have thick callusesA conductive (metal) caseThis is actually a problem for people with artificial limbs trying to use touchscreen devices, since most limbs are not enough of an antenna, and even with a stylus, unless it’s powered, it’s still not going to couple effectively. The solution we arrived at at Google was to put a thin layer of conductive foam inside the prosthetic, and attach that to a 2.4 GHz antenna salvaged from a laptop (one of my projects there was to get a robot “finger” to capacitively couple; the robot had the same problem. It works for the same reason your microwave oven works: the resonant frequency of liquid water is 2.45 GHz. A dipole antenna of approximately that frequency is capable of capacitive coupling with a touch screen device. An experiment was tried in Germany using this information to put an antenna into a Otto Boch artificial arm, enabling a double amputee to use the touchpad on his computer for the first time (I prefer a Mac, but the computer in question was a ThinkPad).Same principle as the gesture testing robot (TouchBot) for Chromebooks.

How to get gum off a touch screen phone?

Baby oil. But SMALL amounts. You just want to dab it on the gum spots themselves. Let it sit for a few minutes to break up the gum and just wipe it off. You'll probably need to slightly wet a towel (preferably microfiber) afterward to get any baby oil residue off. Do NOT put a lot on, as it will not only run everywhere and possibly into the cracks of the phone, it may also damage the screen.

Can a microwave hurt you if the front glass is not there anymore. Can it have effects like cancer?

No. The glass has no real function, other than to retain the moist environment while the food is cooking. The important component is the metallic screen (with the small holes). That is what is protecting you. Imagine the microwave energy as "waves", but they cannot pass through the small holes in the screen because the amplitude (height) of the waves is larger than the diameter of the holes. The gap between the door and the frame could allow mw energy to leak out but the door has to be stressed out of shape (by a towel or several thicknesses of paper, or even dried, hardened food residue. The door has either 2 or 3 interlocks which prevent the oven from operating if the door is not tightly closed, but it is still a good idea to make sure the contact surfaces between the door and the frame are clean and free from obstruction.Microwaves cannot cause cancer. They simply heat up anything containing water or oils (such as food). If your oven DID leak around the edge, and you were to put your eye very close to the door frame while the oven was operating, there is a danger of eye damage. Otherwise, these have been one of the safest kitchen appliances ever invented.

Why doesn't the Faraday cage in a microwave window spark, like normal metal would inside?

Sparks occur when there is sufficient voltage present to ionize the air. Charges concentrate where there are sharp discontinuities between conductive material (like crinkled foil or the data layer of a CD) and non-conductive material like, again, air or maybe polycarbonate. I have been assuming you are not planning to do this in space, or 100% argon atmosphere because you’d suffocate.Ahem. Anyway, the door, screen, and chamber are designed to appear as one continuous piece of metal at the frequency of operation. The physics are a bit complicated, but the RF energy mostly just bounces off, eventually finding its way to your food. Eventually in this case means a few nanoseconds…

How much radiation is emitted by my iphone5, and how does this compare to my 1250 micro wave oven?

Your iPhone probably emits a few Watts of EM radiation constantly in the visible light spectrum. Or at least when the display is turned on. It very occasionally emits of few Watts of power in the in the microwave band - for milliseconds at a time - to talk to the cellular phone network and WiFi.If your microwave is in correct working order, its display generates maybe 0.1 Watts in the EM band corresponding to visible light, and its radiation in the microwave band should be too low to measure. That doesn’t make your iPhone harmful. The human body is well adapted to low levels of visible light. There may be several Watts of EM power coming off an iPhone, but as longs as the display isn’t as bright as (say) the surface of the Sun it is harmless.

I dropped my phone in water and left it for a month. Does the rice trick still work?

Given that the OP has done what he has done, here is some advice for anyone in a similar situation. If your phone gets wet for any reason, first, DO NOT TOUCH ANY BUTTONS WHATSOEVER. NOW OH SO CAREFULLY REMOVE THE BATTERY.The reason is the phone was likely in standby before it got wet, and most of its circuits were not energized. By not waking it you reduce the chance of frying the internals, which, if it were completely immersed, may be unavoidable anyway. Now you need to dry it out thoroughly before attempting to power it up. A shop vac carefully applied to any cracks or openings is ideal. Do not use the brush attachment. Do not allow any part of the vacuum to contact any internal circuits. Using a brush on a running shop vac on IC chips and SMT boards can cause static charges to fry micro circuitry.I don't recommend rice after that, maybe cotton balls in a plastic bag with warm air applied. I have taped a phone in a bag to the heater duct of my car and drove around for a couple hours. This will dry anything, just don't let it get too hot.As for anti corrosive measures well if its fresh water and your local water is not too acidic, you are probably best not doing anything further. Alcohol can damage some components as well as it can clean. There are products on the market for this specific purpose. However given the short life cycles of technology, unless you are in an unusual environment (like near a body of salt water) your phone may become obsolete in the year or so before corrosion becomes an issue anyway.I dumped about a quart of fresh water on a galaxy S3 and followed the exact remedy I described, it worked perfect and 2 years later it still powers up fine.

What is the easiest way to get an iPhone replaced?

In India it is very easy. I have got 4/3 iPhones replaced and that 3; 2 for no reason it got some scratches then I told the dealer that it's earpiece speakers is not loud it got replaced. And one was bit heating it got replaced and of one silent button was not working it got repaced too and in that three one was very scratched and with dent but it got replaced.
