Irregular bowel movements...?

Irregular Bowel Movements?

For a long time now, my bowel movements have been extremely slow. I remember it being like this all the way back in May, maybe even months before that. So I've been having extremely slow bowel movements for a long time now, and finally decided to ask this question.

I'm 14, so my metabolism shouldn't be slow. I poop once every two days, and when I do poop, it's usually just one small lump, and then I'm done. The past few days I decided to bump up calories I should consume, so I ate around 2,000 calories for the past few days, and even spread out my meals more, and despite that I still poop once every two days.

Where is all of the food going? I eat a little I poop a little. I eat the right amount I poop a little. I overeat and I still poop a little. My stomach doesn't hurt so I'm not constipated... I just don't go. So first I'd like to know where is all of the food I'm eating going, and also what can I do to fix this?

Irregular bowel movement?

Eat more fruit / fibre, and drink plenty of water. If you continue to have pain, or can't move bowels at all, see a doctor asap -- a bowel blockage can be extremely serious

Irregular bowel movements?

who told you that once a day is "normal"? What is normal is what your body is comfortable with doing. If you go once a week, so be it, as long as your stools are not hard and you don't have to strain to eliminate, that is your "NORM". Everyone is different. If you want more than one a week, drink two liters of water a day and eat more dried fruit, like raisins.

Irregular bowel movement problems?

i haven't pooped in a week or 8 days and i don't know what to do now. i'm not constipated; that's just it. i just haven't had the urge to go. and it's not one of those problems where my colon has lost the ability to tell me when i need to go, it's simply that i haven't needed to. i'm not overweight in the slightest, and i've eaten a lot of food, and not all of it has been crap, i've eaten a lot of fiber and drank a lot of water, and i'm so worried that i'm going to have a bowel obstruction or something. i've sat on the toilet and tried to go, but i just .. don't need to. that's all. should i wait it out or try an enema or something?

I have been irregular (Bowel Movement) for a while now, might it be something more than diet?

For constipation suppositories, laxatives and enemas are all totally unnecessary if you eat the right foods.

Olive oil is supposed to help as in http://au.search.yahoo.com/search?p=%22o...

All fruit and vegetables in very large amounts are laxative.

You need to permanently change your diet or you are likely to get colon cancer.

Constipation can make you extremely unwell and can lead to colon cancer as it causes a build up of carcinogenic toxins in the system.

Perhaps red meat is the culprit as in http://au.search.yahoo.com/search?p=%22r... as it can take up to 3 days to go through the system.

The intake of foods such as milk, cheese, white rice, white flour and red meat should be restricted, because they tend to contribute to constipation.

Any food that has had the fiber stripped out, the nutrients processed out or slows down the digestion is a constipation culprit. Here's a list of foods shown to cause constipation problems:

•Meats, especially fatty meats, red meat and processed meats,

•Dairy Products, such as cheese, ice cream and whole milk,

•Fast Foods – burgers, French fries and other fried foods, pizza, etc.,

•Refined grains, like white rice or any refined white flour products,

•Highly starchy foods – white potatoes, corn and all refined grains,

•Pastries and other high sugar products, such as cakes, cookies and pies,

•Deep-fried foods, chips and other foods that are high in bad fats.

You can see lots more in http://au.search.yahoo.com/search?p=%22n... which tells you "Natural Ways to Relieve Constipation" and the right foods to eat.

Please do not ignore your body symptoms. It is time you do some introspection on your lifestyle. Many take the body for granted and take coffee/carbonated beverages, alcohol and skipping meals and eat spicy/oily food. Although there are side effects for the above action, our body does not react immediately as it can heal itself to an extent. As you continue with the poor lifestyle, the body eventually gives up and the digestive system starts to show warning signs. If you identify and correct the mistakes earlier, then the chances of getting healthy is high. Please consult a gastroenterologist.

Changes in inside propensities can be caused by a scope of conditions, from a brief contamination to a fundamental restorative issue. Cases of incessant conditions that can cause changes in inside propensities include: celiac infection. Crohn's illness.

I'm somewhat an expert when it comes to gas and bowel movements.Drink lots of water and switch to a diet with lots of roughage. You will see a marked difference.

As both of these symptoms could have more than one cause (and they may or may not be related), you really should seek the advice of a medical professional. A stool sample could reveal the problem is as simple as a lack of fiber as some have suggested, but it could something other than that. You could have a mineral deficiency (magnesium, for example, is indicated in both bowel function and muscle spams). The back pain could be due to straining, weak abdominal muscles, a herniated disk, or many other causes. Treating the symptoms might end up masking some more serious problem in the short term. See a doctor.
