Ideas for a young democrats club?
* Watch an appropriate movie or documentary * Invite local and state elected officials to come speak * Invite OFA or party officials to train club members * Organize a rally on campus * Help out local, state, and federal candidates running in your area * Make sure your at the activities fair for freshmen Your biggest difficulty is going to be two fold. * Your first and second meeting. Make sure they are well organized, productive, and fun. People who are half interested in the club from the fair or otherwise are going to come once, make a decision about whether they want to get more involved or never come again based on their first impression from the first meeting they attend. * Since it's an off year election, there is going to be much less political excitement in the fall than there will be next fall when the Presidential election is. I'd recommend helping state and local candidates where you can but also training people in preparation for 2012 and otherwise start to build excitement for the presidential since that's what most young people are more generally are interested in. * Thinking ahead, you will get a big drop off in interest after the presidential. Don't wait too long to have a plan to keep people engaged in the club, to be valuable to other candidates who aren't running for president, and to basically just not fall apart. It happens!
Is any kind of so-called indoctrination acceptable?
Well Birdy, I was born in 1948, before Women's Lib! Women were in the home taking care of their families, baking cookies and proud of it! I truly believe most indoctrinations other than the Truth of God, by God, can be detrimental to ones well being.. It is truly a shame women felt so compelled to leave their homes and families, to set their sights and goals in the stations and ranks of their male counterparts. In my opinion, they should have stayed where they belong! So much in the home, family, men and society has suffered, due to the dislocated whims of these women who thought more about their liberation from the home than what it would do to the the "home environment" as a whole. We can see today how these actions have reverberated harshly, down through the years. " Home is where the heart is" is long obsolete and gone forever. Call me 'old fashioned' or "whatever" but - I remember those days with a sadness in my heart. I have always been a wife and mother of six, at home with my family. I never felt like I was missing any thing out there. My kids are all grown and nearly gone now and I am still home. Just in case I am needed, my family knows where to find me. I truly love my 'home'. :D Peace and Blessings
