How can I prevent this Sore Throat/Cold to get worse?

Get lots of rest! Bundle up and keep warm, gargle frequently with warm salted water (1/2 tsp salt/6 oz water), drink scads of fluids! Orange juice, fruit juices and esp water. Down lots of Vitamin C, (you can't OD on the C) it just gives you healthy urine. Ibuprofen for mild headaches or stiffness, if necessary. Eat light, but eat right! Chicken soup is not just a myth! It will make you sweat out the cold, and give you strength to fight the germ. (If it makes your nose run, good! Better out than in!) Did I say rest? Good, rest again! Give your body the extra time to fight the good fight! Stay positive! (good attitude and a positive spirit really does a body good!) Relax with a cup of lemon tea with honey (good for the throat). You'll feel better or it, I'm positive!

Why are Fox News and other conservative media not overseas? On a recent overseas trip, all we could find on TV was CNN and BBC. Why is Fox not putting their side out there also?

Canada is not physically overseas although culturally it is. FOX applied for a cable channel here and the application was denied. The reason was the observation that it is not a news channel. It has too many commentators who parade as broadcasting news but are either making commentary, quoting a strange, obscure, or unverifiable source, or similar activity. The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission regulates all communication in Canada including the spectrum for cellular and other uses. It demanded a higher level of provable information to qualify as a news channel than FOX was able to demonstrate. Fox refused to apply as an entertainment channel as the committee suggested. We can get FOX on a US channel in some cities so most Canadians can see it. Few care to because of the disinformation. Few Canadians are looking for fake news (as the gospel holler advertisement says, genuine imitation fake news) to justify an ignorant opinion. We are far too in tune with the planet for that.We also had a genuine Canadian FOX clone (would that be a kit?) channel that was backed by Canadians and carried right wing news. It too ran into some problem, lack of something, and eventually went bankrupt because they could not find enough advertisers. Advertisers count the audience so that would imply that few of us care to follow that type of “info”.Fox is on some satellites so any isolated location has the option of watching it with a satellite dish. I had the experience of living with two Americans in a remote village and FOX was on all evening. Boy it was good to go home! There is a second difference too. While in Nevada I heard two women talking about a new TV journalist that one had seen. The journalist had been interviewing someone. The woman commented "boy she could push (the interviewed person's) buttons! The other woman replied "I like that". In the US news is presented as entertainment while in other countries it is information. FOX is very much an entertainment channel.

Why do conservatives view CNN as a very liberal biased news source?

Because CNN is a very liberal biased news source (and I am no fan of Trump and watch CNN everyday...) In fact, I don’t think CNN would disagree that they are biased. I think it’s actually very obvious to everybody. What isn’t obvious is exactly why. Why is CNN so biased? The answer may surprise you. It has everything to do with Google —and ratings AND advertising sales. The days of the news just being watched on TV are long gone. People now get their news over the internet, usually after conducting a search. Further, each news source has a well defined market. Gone are the days of a news station being generalized. First, I’ll discuss Google…How a news station ranks in Google will determine over half of the eyeballs on a story and a substantial portion of their advertising revenue. After all, the internet is world wide. Cable TV is highly localized and with Google Adwords, advertising revenue is worldwide.Make Google happy, you will be happy.Google has adjusted their algorithm to favor liberal news sources and PUNISH conservative news sources. After all, Google is a very liberal company headquartered in one of the most liberal areas of the country: Mountain View, California. If you’ve ever been to Mountain View, Palo Alto, and/or the surrounding area, you know what I mean! Everything about how Google works has been intentionally and systemically built to lean liberal. By being so liberally biased, CNN has become #1 on Google. In fact, CNN even higher than BBC and other sources that are much less biased and have higher journalistic and ethical standards (BBC is tops in the industry.)If you don’t believe me, check out my search engine, 4Conservative.com, and see all the news out there you’re missing because Google shoved it to the bottom. You’ll see many of these news sources are actually not fake news and even conservative news sources can be critical of Trump (and often are…) 4Conservative.com rebalances the algorithm to level the playing field. You will also see news from CNN and other top liberal sources, but you won’t miss the top conservative sources.—Michael LevyI’m the founder of 4Conservative.com | The Conservative Search Engine, one of over 2000 4Search.com search engines that let you search by topic and interests. Which news sources do you consider fake news going into 2019? CNN, MSNBC, FOX, NBC or other?

As we enter 2019, two things are very important. Thing one: the term “fake news” has been unfairly utilized by President Trump to attack any stories he disagrees with or to demonize any journalists he dislikes. But the actual definition of fake news (which goes back to the 1880s-1890s) refers to quotes that were never really said by anyone, events that never really occurred, and reporters who intentionally mislead the public. None of the reporters at CNN, MSNBC, Fox News, NBC etc. are guilty of doing any of these things. But that gets me to thing two: commentators are different from news reporters. Commentators are there to give opinions, and some of them distort, demean, misinterpret, exaggerate, etc. just to score political points. Of course, not all commentators are dishonorable: some make an effort to be factually accurate when giving their interpretation of a news story. But other commentators never let the facts get in the way of stirring up outrage. Reporters at Fox News, CNN, MSNBC, etc make an honest effort to be fair to the facts. Commentators often do not.In 2019, I hope people will fact-check quotes, and not spread memes with fake quotes or fake information. Now more than ever, it’s important to be skeptical of claims politicians are making, and to make sure we are not being misinformed by people who have a partisan agenda. Beware of “confirmation bias”: too many people seek out only those opinions that agree with what they already believe, whether the opinions are fact-based or not. Rather than arbitrarily demonizing the folks on the other side, I hope we can first seek out accurate reporting and find out the facts; and I hope we can call out people who intentionally seek to mislead us.

How can one determine whether news is fake, or Trump is lying?

First, separate the news from the spin.Example: News….Obama employed a “catch and release” technique on illegal immigrants.Right spin…..Obama used “catch and release” to allow criminals into America because he doesn’t care about the rule of law or your safety.Left spin….Due to the limited capacity of our system, Obama “used “catch and release” to detain only illegals with prior crimes, thereby making you safer while avoiding the current child separation disaster. In this case, the Left happens to be more accurate, but you get the idea. The point is that most decent media gives the actual news. They then tend to interpret it according to their own bias. Just stay away from any outlets that get too extreme, left or right, as the accuracy can get pretty dicey. For a good starter guide, go to Media Bias/Fact Check - Search and Learn the Bias of News Media. It’s very comprehensive, and while not perfect, is rarely off by very much. To the extent you disagree with the general results, probably gives you a pretty good idea as to where you stand.
