Is Being From Nigeria And Jamaica A Weird Mix

How did the Jamaican accent originate?

Here is some information i found [1] reading up on this subject matter:The first inhabitants were aboriginals (e.g. tainos) and though their existence was short, due to colonialism, they left words such as :casava, guava, liguanea etcThe Spanish themselves did not bequeath much more than a few words: such as Dacosta, place names like: seville and ocho rios mark their spots, we also go the word gizaada apparently.“From this time on English would take root taught by the soldiers and sailors, and later by the settlers with their overseers, book-keepers, indentured servants and missionaries. Some of these spoke different regional British dialects which is how we got the Scottish and Irish influences.” that would correlate well with points of areas in europe“Anyone who hears Jamaican being spoken will be sure that it is some African language. Not only the sound but also some of the vocabulary, syntax and construction can be traced right back to specific West African linguistic groups.”Conclusion: the language is a melting pot of sorts, the constant blending of the languages led to what we know as a creole or a pidgin langugae, but have many things in common.Footnotes[1] Ischri/Jamaican Language: History

How come Jamaicans dislike Haitians?

I'm Jamaican and when I was a sophomore in college, I was in love with this Haitian girl at my school. I have no problem with Haitians. I've met some and they are extremely nice, hard working and intelligent. Also one of my friends was from Haiti (she was an older woman) and I used to help her take care of her small child when she had work to do and I was younger.

I've also been in stores where Haitians worked or owned and I got along with them really well. People who would do that to another human being or make them feel that way should be given therapy and removed from the population so that they can no longer spread their poison.

Edit: @ Lisa: One of my closest friends is from Nigeria. Also my favorite teacher was from Africa as well. Self haters can come from other groups, and I completely agree that embracing our African heritage would make our race better, raise our self esteem and make us respect one another more. We also need better role models to show this in the media, better teachers to pass this on and parents who have higher self esteem and won't teach us that others who possess African blood are ugly, negative or implant any stereotypical idea in that child's head.

I wish I was Italian. Is that weird?

I wish I was Italian. I'm Hispanic (or "Mexican", but I always say "Hispanic"#. My dad told me that there is "some" Italian in our blood, and our last name #Casarez) is [somewhat] originated from Italy, but I don't know how true that is. No one in my dad's family knows which country we came from, they never talk about it. Even then, I would still like to be full-blood Italian. I'm fluent in the language, I'm very familiar with the culture, and a lot of people tell me I look like an Italian. I've always wanted to marry into an Italian family, and have an Italian last name. Do you think this is abnormal?

Please no negative comments.

Are Jamaicans Blacks or Latinos/Hispanics or are we Black Hispanics/Latinos?

I just don't get it. I am a black jamaican and i look black but i tell people that i am hispanic and latino and as well as black because jamaica is in latin america. Also jamaica is in latin america as well. We are latin americans and our cultures dont connect to the africans from africa so how are we african? We should be considered hispanic and latino because jamaica is in latin america.

Am Jamaican but could i be hispanic and latino for once? I mean i like hispanic'latina girls, they are so beautiful i like spanish and one day i hope us jamaicans will be feature under hispanic latino that is what we are. Jamaica Jamaica is latin america, is located in latin america. We arent blacks either we have indian roots as well so how are we full black. I am hispanic/latino so that is what i am not black. We are hispanic by culture. How are we not hispanics/latinos yet?

Is Sade biracial?

Depends on how you define "race". I would guess she is 100 percent human race. The very slight differences that society has magnified into this magical and divisive "race" definition should be abandoned, IMHO. (a rather forlorn hope, I feel sure)
