Is Conditioner Good Or Bad For Your Hair

Is conditioner good for your hair?

A conditioner is required to tame the cuticles. They smoothen them to give a smooth aligned structure so that they turn lustrous.Simply put, the numerous filaments of each hair strand get bound together through a conditioner. This further leads to less tangling, less breakage and leads to an overall healthy and beautiful looking mane.Conditioners also have moisturising capacities, so they reduce the flyaway hair by providing them little amount of suppleness. They are much needed for people with curly or dry and frizzy hair to reduce the static.Though most of the commercial hair care conditioners are loaded with chemicals that may rove harmful. They may cause a lot of product buildup that can look like an ugly dandruff. This then becomes a lead cause of hair fall and unruly hair.I use apple cider vinegar diluted with water as a conditioner. Its acidic content balances the scalp and reduces infection. Also, it aligns the cuticles by sealing them. This makes my hair look shiny and resilient.P.S: If you may wish to know about detoxing hair of chemicals with natural ingredients. Then, I have put up an Infographic on the subject, which is available as a download on my bio to this answer.

Is using a conditioner after dying hair good or bad?

Yes, hair should be conditioned after haircolor, but it’s better to condition the hair after the color is rinsed and before the shampoo.Hair is very alkaline and swollen with water after the haircolor is rinsed from the hair. The hair is very fragile at this point and the surfactants in shampoo will cause more damage, but a conditioner will penetrate into the hair better because it is swollen, and an acid balanced conditioner will neutralize the alkalinity. You can make any conditioner more acidic by adding Fruit Fresh. Fruit Fresh is ascorbic acid, (Vitamin C). Add ½ ounce of Fruit Fresh to 1 ounce of shampoo immediately before use.1. After processing, rinse the haircolor from the hair.2. Towel dry the hair and apply conditioner.3. Wait 5 to 10 minutes and rinse.4. Then shampoo with a mild shampoo

Is using too much hair conditioner bad for your hair?

The other answer is wrong. Oil is not a conditioner but a moisturiser. To be a conditioner it must have a positive charge to adsorb the hair shaft. This is found in ingredients such as particular emulsifiers which have a catonic charge. Oils do not have that so are not conditioners.Ok so the question. Is too much conditioner bad for your hair?If you use a conditioner that has a lot of silicones in it everyday, you will get a build up which can leave your hair very dull and limp. You can combat this by using a clarifying shampoo periodically. For a few washes just use the shampoo to get rid of build up and then afterwards do an acidic rinse. A quarter to half a teaspoon of citric acid in warm water as a rinse will close the cuticles and leave your your looking and feeling nice whilst you are ridding the build up. Then you can go back to your conditioner. Some might tell you not to use conditioners with silicone in. I use an acidic rinse but my daughter who has curly hair like me, she straightens her hair daily so needs a conditioner. The one I make her has dimithecone in it. As long as she rinses it out properly, her hair looks fab.If your hair is looking limp or greasy after conditioning it then you may not be rinsing it out properly or you are using the wrong type of conditioner for your hair type. The ingredients in conditioners for different hair types do differ. For instance, if you have frizzy hair and use a conditioner with a high humectant content such as glycerin, you are making your hair attract water so are increasing the potential frizz when you actually want to do the opposite! If you use too much conditioner, where it says use a 10p piece blob and you fill your palm, it's just a waste of product and money. You need a certain amount of conditioner to coat the hair and that is why there are recommended rates of usage for different lengths. Any more than you actually need just goes down the drain without benefiting your hair at all.So, always use the right type of conditioner for your hair.Understand that too much of a good thing can be bad!Use the right amount.Rinse, rinse, rinse. Now flick your hair and go be fabulous!
