Medical vs Surgical Abortion?
I recently found out I am pregnant. It was a massive shock as I was on the pill and definitly not planning another baby at this time. Normally this would be a happy surprise for our family but unfortunately, due to medical reasons I had been taking a teratogenic medication (this means its very harmful to a developing fetus, causing birth defects, if you didnt know this). I was taking the meds right up until finding out about the baby and my Dr has suggested it is in our best interest to terminate the pregnancy. Please no anti abortion crap..I am not a fan of it either...I am studing to become an Registered Nurse/Registered Midwife and its not something I would normally do. I have decided I would prefer a Medical Abortion (induced by drugs that block hormones essential for the pregnancy) as it is more like a miscarriage and can be done in the privacy of my home. I dont believe I can go through with a Surgical Abortion. However, the clinic I am seeing are trying to push me to go with the Surgical saying it is much safer and less painful but the information provided by them in the Q&A explains they are both as safe as eachother. The woman on the phone was being extremely pushy and left me in tears. Why Im actually writing on here is I am hoping to get some answers from people who have Terminated a pregnancy before, for whatever reason, especially using the Drug induced method, and what it was like? Dont bother with the nasty answers, this is already the worst thing I have ever had to do and saying bad things wont change the decision..I already have 2 children I love and need to put their needs first! Thanks in advance.
