Is is weird to go to the movies alone?
So I really want to see this movie and all my friends have seen it. They are all busy tonight and I have no siblings to drag with me. My parents are going to see a movie, but it is the same movie the guy I like and his girlfriend (my friend) are seeing tonight. (awkward) AND I really want to see this movie!! But I am afraid it might be awkward... The movie theater I am going to has a lot of people I know who go to it, and the seating is arranged so you can't really hide. What should I do? I don't want to risk seeing them but I don't know if it is weird to go to another movie alone. What should I do?

On an average, I have noticed people are of two types:One who will need a company even to go to washroom.One who can even travel to a different country on a holiday all alone.People also have some personality differences by birth, they do not develop the traits as life progresses. Here I am talking about two personality traits:ExtrovertsIntrovertsNow, since I made few points clear, let’s get to the main question.When people see a person in movie theater alone, they assume just one thing, how lonely he/she is. Where as this is just one possibility like following possible reasons:The person actually is lonely and has no one to accompany.The person is an introvert and has high self-confidence to walk in anywhere alone irrespective of what people think.The person is an extrovert but has high self-confidence to walk in anywhere alone, and basically gives a damn of what others think.The person is an extrovert/introvert and someone ditched him/her for the movie and now has to watch it alone.He/She simply is a huge movie buff and has to watch dozens of movies, movies that no one else wants to watch, and hence he/she knows it’s pointless even planning it with someone and books ticket whenever where ever he/she feels like experiencing the magic of cinema.So, next time, do not just assume the obvious when you see a person alone in theater. He/she probably is doing something that you may never be able to do even if it’s a useless tiny thing like watching a movie alone.

I really wanna see a movie that is coming out tonight at my local movie theater and it is showing tonight at 9:20 pm except I have no friends and no one to go with. I never go anywhere for that reason. If I go by myself tonight will people think I'm weird for being there alone?

Whoever answered "Yes" needs to grow up. There will be a lot of movies in your life that no one will be able to join you for. What, you're going to miss all those good movies? Sure it's more fun to go with friends. But if the movie is leaving theaters and your friends couldn't see it with you, are you going to miss it? What if it's a great movie? p.s. I suffer with Agoraphobia, but it is nothing like it used to be because I've come a long ways, but one of the exercises that I did to help me with my Agoraphobia and fear of being alone was to go to movies alone.Yeah, at first I was like, what type of weirdo goes to movies alone? I never see anyone go to movies alone literally ever around here.So, I procrastinated quite a bit.And panicked even more about it.What if people look at me weird for going to a movie alone?I finally made the stride and I did it one day.One of the best life decisions I have ever made by far.Now I go to movies alone all the time (when there is something good playing at least - recently saw the movie Glass and loved it)…But there's so many perks of going to a movie alone which outweigh any and every worry you have about it being weird. Now, I'm not saying you won't be anxious as hell the first time you go to the movies alone. You may catch yourself looking around and getting on your phone during the previews.But the perks, y'all. The perks of seeing a movie alone include, but are not limited to:You can see whatever movie you want toYou don't have to worry about what the other person thinksYou don't have to deal with the other person periodYou can totally eat all the popcorn and any other snack you choose to without worrying what the other person thinks of youYou don't have to share your popcorn or snacks with anyone but you and yourselfYou can get up and leave if the movie sucksYou don't have to deal with the other person talkingYou'll soon realize that you are your own best friend shortly after and it's an amazing feelingYou'll want to see another movie after you finish watching an amazing movie
What is it like to go to the movies alone?
After watching several movies all alone —The good things:You will get ticket almost any time you want:This is one of the major reason why I go movie alone. On a weekend, feeling bored? Open a ticket booking app. Select any movie, any multiplex, any showtime. Chances are high that you will get a seat for one at a decent position.Reason ?1) People are getting “clever” these days and booking tickets leaving one seat towards aisle area expecting that seat will go unsold because chances are rare that someone will come to watch a movie alone and they will get some “space” around them.2) Many theaters have rows containing odd number (most of the time 5) of seats. So normally, two couples and one seat goes unoccupied.You are your own boss:You want to watch a movie - just go for it. ZERO drama regarding choice of place, time and movie among friends. You prefer nachos to popcorn, or you feel like not having anything — you are the one to decide, again, no drama.No disturbance:If it’s a movie where lot of concentration is required, go solo. You will enjoy the movie most.The bad things:If it’s a movie to be watched with friends, better go with friends. I went to watch Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani all alone and regretted the decision sitting in the movie theater itself. I missed college friends there and wished badly that i should have come in a large group.If the movie is a comedy movie, it’s a bit awkward to laugh loud all alone. I mean there is no “crime” in it but once it happened with me. The uncle beside me was giving a look like he is sitting beside someone mad. :PP.S:Going to a movie alone for the first time was tough. Just like stage fright, I felt like everybody is looking at me and judging me as a “loser” who can’t even find a friend to come with him for a movie. [Fact: None gives a damn about who is coming with whom]. Gradually, things became easier. And now, just for the first reason mentioned above, I go almost all movies alone — reach a bit early — buy nachos and coke — sit comfortably and ENJOY !!!Just like the ad “pepsi thi, pee gya” — it’s like “ek seat mili, dekh liya” :D
Simple question which is weirder? Going to the movies alone? Or going to an aquarium alone?
Aquarium hands down, Movies is okay, because sometimes people just wanna see a movie without hearing their girlfriend scream at every turn. Aquarium on the other hand, thats a family place, going alone just makes you look like a creep
