Is Islam, a religion of peace ?

well muslims are instructed to follow the example of mohammed, the founder of islam. if one reads the quran and the hadith, one can clearly see that mohammed was a psychopath, a murderer, a rapist, and a pedophile. doesn't sound like a peaceful example to me

Is Islam a Religion of Peace?

Not only is Islam NOT a religion of peace( at least not for all those they have murdered), but IT IS NOT A RELIGION AT ALL. Why? Compare it to any other religion today-do any others force you to believe or die? Do any others try to conquer other countries and territories and control the people within them? NO. The others don't. THAT is the proof Islam is NOT a religion. What is it then? It operates exactly like a "POLITICAL IDEOLOGY", SO THAT IS WHAT IT is. therefore, IT SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO HAVE SCHOOLS, COMMUNITY CENTERS, AND TAX FREE STATUS AS IF IT IS A CHURCH or other non-profit group.

Is islam the religion of peace?

If islam is a religion of peace then buddhism is all about violence.

Is Islam a religion of peace and love?

Islam, like many religions, is peaceful in some of its teachings and violent in others. One might say that because of the zealots (read: Al Qaeda), that proves that they are not about peace. But, you would also have to then look at the fact that the Bible, also preaches that slavery is OK. Also, what about the Crusades? The "Christian Soldiers" slaughtered thousands in the middle east in the name of Jesus.

So, I say that the difference between this is the haves and the have nots. We, in the US have vast prosperity, high levels of education, and low unemployment (about 5-6 percent). Meanwhile in the mideast, there is prosperity in the hands of the super rich (a small group of people), literacy rates are below 20%, and the unemployment rate is around 30%.

These three factors (low prosperity, low education, high unemployment) mean that there are people with little else to do in their day but think about how bad their life is. Now, if you mix in the words of a zealot religious person, then you have a violent cult situation with the biggest kids on the block being the target.

Islam is not the problem in the middle east. Economics is the problem. We need to help these people raise themselves up in order to change the cycle violence.

Is Islam a religion of peace as well as violence?

Islam is neither a religion of peace nor violence. It is a theology, that has an attached jurisprudential tradition, based on what Muslims consider Revelation. At its core, it advocates adherence to monotheism, and a reflection of the Divine Attributes. As to whether that means a peaceful approach or violence, that really depends on the person. How is it that some people read the Qur’an and advocate compassion, whereas others advocate oppression? To use a similitude, if the cup is dirty, even the purest water put in it is contaminated. Whatever the Qur’an States, if the person reading it has an inadequate understanding of the Divine Attributes of Mercy, and has a malign heart, whatever he reads is coloured by that.Islam may not advocate violence, but there are more than enough of those who claim to be Muslims who do. It does not take much to quote a verse out of context, or to quote half a verse to justify all manner of atrocities in the Name of God. In that sense, Islam is no different from any other organised religion.
