Is It A Bad Idea To Rent A Room To Live In Off Craigslist And Live With A Complete Stranger

Is it safe to rent a shared room with strangers from craigslist?

I've been looking at a lot of shared rooms advertised on craigslist, because it's difficult to find a private bedroom around here for under $500 a month. Most of the shared rooms I've looked at are cramped and dirty, and the person renting them are mostly shady or seem like they're on something. They're all very nice at first, but I've moved in with "nice" people who quickly became inconsiderate monsters as soon as I gave them money. I don't know if my judgment is good enough to decide who to live with, or if it's even worth the risk of sharing a room with complete strangers. Also, I'm sensitive to noise and lights when I'm sleeping.

Is it a bad idea to rent a room to live in off Craigslist and live with a complete stranger?

Yes of course. Young women have never be sexually abused or murdered by strange men in LA.

Good luck.

Roommates: Is it better to find a stranger or a friend to live with?

I prefer living with people who are compatible in cleanliness, noise tolerance, and sleep time, so that usually means trying to find an acquaintance. However, I would not want to live with someone I know too well, consider a good friend, or otherwise have social obligations to.I tend to be relatively social when I'm outside, and find the need for me to balance that by having my own alone time at home. I spend much of my time at home thinking very deeply, experimenting with all kinds of arts, food, and other extracurricular endeavours, and in short just being myself. When I'm doing all that I just want to be left alone to my hobbies, not asked questions about what I'm doing or where I'm going, not have my thoughts interrupted all day, not watched, not praised, not criticised, not judged, not commented upon. Also, on occasion I have a close friend or two come over to visit, and I rely on my place to be the one place I can have a 1-1 conversation with them without others. I am also actively part of many very different friend/social circles and also don't want to be obligated to make introductions every time someone visits. It may sound a bit selfish, but I enjoy having this freedom as a balance to my otherwise very social life outside; to me the only reason I live with flatmates is to save money and natural resources. With good friends as flatmates, I would have a social obligation to them and lose this kind of freedom. When you cook something they expect you to share it; when you invite friends they expect to join in on your dinner conversation; when you go out they ask you what you're upto. With flatmates the only obligation I wish to have is to clean up and share the space nicely and politely, and not any obligation to involve them in my life.

Is it safe finding a roommate on craigslist?

Okay so I'm thinking of posting an ad on craigslist to find a roommate just to make things a bit easier for me and i was wondering if it was safe. The problem is that I'm a 17 year old girl and live on my own in an apartment in L.a so I'm just kind of scared someone could be like a serial killer or rapist (I know I'm being ridiculous) but you can never be too safe right? So I guess I was just wondering if any of you had experience or just general tips haha. Also I don't have family that I can reach out to or ask questions so thats why I'm posting on here!

What things do you consider when renting a room in your home to a stranger?

Photo ID, take a photocopy for your files.Ask for (and get) 3 months of pay stubs to prove the person’s income. No proof, no rental. Period.Ask for references FROM A CURRENT OR PREVIOUS LANDLORD. When you call the previous landlord, watch for fakes. The oldest (and dumbest) trick in the book is that the tenant will give their friend or relative as a fake reference. If the previous landlord gives and overly glowing review, don’t rent to that person.Any doubts, visit the person at their current address and see how they keep the place.

Just How Safe Is Craigslist?

I live in the Rhode Island area. I have some things that I would like to sell, some of which is furniture. Though I am a bit skeptical.

Is it safe to do dealing at your home, not inside the house but perhaps the front porch area or front yard? Do people actually do the dealings at their homes?

I have no problem meeting at a public place when it comes to small things. But I don't see how I would be able to do that when it came to the furniture pieces I would like to sell, seeing they are heavy.

What are the typical ways people have done their dealings when it came to furniture pieces?
