Is It Animal Abuse If A Spank My Cat Lightly

Is it animal abuse if a spank my cat lightly?

I just saved a kitten from outside. It was a blizzard outside. I have another cat. My cat that I have is attacking my new kitten, his name is Blizzard. My older cat that is Attacking Blizzard, is Mushroom. Mushroom keeps nipping at the kitten. I just got the kitten yesterday. It was found with the mother and 3 other kittens, on the side of my house. The mom and 3 other kittens are were dead. I took this cat in, and saved it while it was close to death. Mushroom just keeps nipping at Blizzard & I spank Mushroom lightly on the back sometimes. I just want to make sure this is not animal abuse. And trust me. I love Mushroom. He's my life. He just needs to stop. The kitten is only like 6 wks old. Is this animal abuse?

Is it ok to spank your cat?

i have been spanking my cat everyday now, he has been bad lately, running around and breaking things, and i am very

frustrated, it seems not to be working, what else can i do to punish him?

i am so mad i just want to dump the cat in the woods somewhere.

is there anything i can do?

Why is spanking cats considered animal abuse?

Because cats are not social animals. They have ZERO concept of punishment, correction, or disapproval. It’s not part of how their brains work. All they experience when someone hurts them is an attack. There is no concept of their own behavior and your response. They have no reason to have that because they are a solitary ambush predator.Corporal punishment of a cat does absolutely nothing except make a cat feel like a huge simian ogre creature is attacking it for no reason.

Is it bad to spank animals as punishment?

Spanking animals? Seriously? When my dog or cat behaved really bad which was seldom. I would take them to the mess to show them what I was upset about and them I would take the back of their neck and gently push their head down. This is what the mommy cat/dog does to discipline her babies. It reminds the pet that they are lower than me in the pecking orders and I make the rules. While doing that I say, “no - bad’ . That usually solved the problem. You must remember that having a cat/dog is like having a toddler for the entire life of the pet. They will think like a two year old and won’t always make good decisions so it is important to not put things where they can get at them or where they will be tempted beyond their ability to resist.

Is it bad to spank your cat??

It is always "bad" to hit ANYONE - human or animal! Instead, try slapping a paper next to the cat either on the floor or the edge of a counter. IF that is not enough to stop the cat, then use a squirt bottle. My 3 cats usually only have to see the bottle to know they are misbehaving and they run and hide from it. I rarely ever fill it anymore.

Was i wrong to spank her cat?

my friend and her cat are staying with me. her cat is always scratching my things. her cat always scratches my door at night to try to enter. to prevent this,i have tried yelling at him, spraying him with water from a spray bottle(her idea), putting him in his cat carrier and i have spanked him. my friend says i am abusive to animals and she will never forgive me for hitting her cat. she says she heard me hit him and it was hard. i said she should have been controling her cat, however she left it up to me to deal with it. on the 3rd night of dealing with this problem, i spanked him. was i wrong to spank her cat? was she wrong to not do anything and leave it up to me? our friendship has suffered as a result. please reply with yall's opinion

Is it dog abuse if I spanked my dog on the bum for running across the street, almost getting hit by a car? I wacked him on the bum lightly, and the neighbor saw me do it and started cussing me out, saying that she’s going to call the cops.

Though it is human instinct, such a reprimand is not interpreted properly by your dog. Your dog just thinks it is being hurt by a hand that is usually there to nurture and be kind to it. It does not have the higher reasoning to understand you are upset that it nearly got hit by a car, the dog only sees you reacting in an aggressive way and cannot make that connection. This is a good way to get a dog afraid of hands and thus petting and may result in the dog biting/nipping a child or a stranger who approaches them.Positive reinforcement is best. Your dog ran across the street, so teach your dog not to do this. For my own dog, who had never been leash trained until she was five years old, which is when I obtained her, I trained her to sit at every intersection and to ‘wait’. She now won’t cross the street unless the all clear is given by me at intersections with lights and won’t cross if there are cars visible on non-lit intersections.(This did backfire slightly, however, and it’s kind of funny. We were crossing at a crowded intersection that didn’t have lights and she refused to cross the street because there were too many cars there. An elderly lady standing with me laughed and said, “She’s very smart! Let’s see if she’ll follow me if I give the all clear.” So she began crossing the street and asked “Are you coming?”My dog followed her immediately, she just needed an extra hand to give the all clear! I guess she got a mixed signal at that point because it wasn’t a lit intersection. But it’s much better she’s learned the danger and caution of cars than not, so I took her reluctance as a very big positive!)

Is it animal abuse to yell and smack my dog's body to make him let go of my arm?

The first part of Mia Caldwell’s answer is correct, it is abuse. Now the part she missed. You get bitten by your dog because you are picking him up while he is going to the bathroom. You are attempting to shoo or pick up your dog when he is at his most vulnerable and you expect him to do what? Suddenly stop going? That isn’t going to happen. He also isn’t going to be all kissy and sweet when you grab him. He is going to protect himself, which is what he is doing when he bites and won’t let go.If you are concerned about him going in places that aren't acceptable I can make a couple of suggestions. First, take him to the vet for a checkup. He’s 9 so it is possible that he has a UTI or is becoming incontinent. The signal that he needs to go may be registering later which doesn't give him time to alert you or go to an acceptable spot. A vet could help you rule these things out along with a few other conditions that could be causing the issue.Second, if you are free feeding him please stop and go to twice a day. That will make when he needs to go more predictable so that you can help him get to an appropriate place before he needs to squat. Always take him out before you leave and before you go to bed. This will cut down on finding “presents”.He isn’t doing these things on purpose, something is going on here and the suggestions that I have given you are the ways that you can help him. Once he squats or lifts a leg it is too late, all you can do then is clean it up. Punishment will make things worse because then he is likely to hide when he goes.

Will spanking my cat be bad?

Alright, I have a really friendly cat that keeps clawing up the carpet on the stairs. I told my mom that she needs a scratching post but she just says she can use the trees like she does sometimes because she goes outside all the time. Our cat also understands that it's wrong because we spray her and she runs away whenever we see her doing it. Spraying her just isn't working now my moms boyfriend talks about spanking her or squeezing her paws. I think it's messed us but it's not really my cat and i'm under 18 living with my mom. What should I do I just really want to know if it'd cause any real harm?

What are the legal implications of spanking your cat in public?

Spanking any animal is abuse. Hitting does not teach an animal anything except to fear you. A cat in particular is unlikely to ever trust you again if you do such a thing. Bad idea. Learn how to control your cat’s behavior using positive methods.
