Is It Bad To Allow Kittens To Eat Solid Food Even Real Chicken If They Are Showing An Interest.

When can kittens begin eating wet food?

Around 4–5 weeks, they’ll get interested and may try to eat it. Their actual food however is still their mother’s milk.Around 6 weeks, they CAN survive without milk, but it’s still the healthier option. After 2 months, milk gets increasingly less important and they shift to solid food, both wet and dry. At 3 months, milk is basically comfort food: they love cuddling up to their mom for a snack, but that’s all it is. Usually mom wil have started weaning them at this point, ie refusing to lie down so they can suckle, perhaps even making irritated noises to shoo them off.If you have a kitten of less than 8 weeks, buy cat formula from the vet.

Found my cat eating raw chicken that I was defrosting on the counter. Will he get sick?

We just left for not even an hour and I left the chicken on the counter in the original wrapper in a ziplock wrapper to defrost in a plastic bowl. He jumped on the counter (what's new) and bit through to the chicken. There was styrafoam pieces and plastic everywhere and not to mention chicken juice. The chicken was still partialy frozen so I can't tell what he really ate, but he sure did a great job of getting to the chicken. I gave him his food and water right after and he did eat it, but he did this as if I starve him! What the hell? Why did my cat do this, he never has done this and he has been with us for 6 years.

How do i introduce my kitten to my chickens so he doesn't eat them?

Hi, so i just got a cat and he is a couple of months old. I own 7 Chinese silkie chickens and i dont want him to eat them.... how do i train and introduce my cat to them so he doesnt attack them..?

I ran out of cat food? feeding boiled chicken.?

Yes it's OK. Animal protein from muscle meat is great for them, and boiled chicken is usually easily digested by cats. It wouldnt be OK for a complete diet because it does not have all the things she needs for example calcium, and taurine ( taurine is in meat but cooking deactivates it so it is added back in in cat food.) But there's no problem feeding this for a day. or even adding some with their regular food to boost the protein amount (but don't feed just regular cooked chicken as more than a third of their total intake.)

There's also actually nothing wrong with sometimes feeding kittens adult cat food. After all, there are no "kitten mice". Cats in the wild eat the same no matter what their age. BUTif not specifically kitten food it should be one of the foods that say "for all life stages" or "for cats and kittens" Those tend to be the high quality 'super premium" brands.

( But in a pinch, one could occasionally feed a kitten a meal of a supermarket kind of canned cat food. Friskies is not high quality but still does have animal protein and fat; and though it probably has some parts with low nutritional value it probably also has nutritious organ meat etc. I would not get into a habit of feeding a lower quality adult cat food to kittens but it is not the end of the world if they eat a can of Friskies But really the boiled chicken was a better choice. )

The Friskies "paté" varieties are at least a lot better than dry food with high amounts of grains. Not that it sounds like you feed that anyway. In canned food, I would avoid the kinds with chunks, shreddeds etc or 'in gravy" all of which are a sign of too much carbs / sugar It's not (except in some of the ultra premium food)actually chunks or shreds of muscle meat, it is formed with stuff like wheat gluten.

My 10 week old kitten wont eat cat food?

I only picked up the kitten tonight from the looks i think i saved it more than anything :( He has scruffy fur a bit mattered, skinny, bit smelly etc! So i got home tonight and realized he doesn't eat kitten food? After many attempts trying to convince it was ok, they all failed.. I get a message 2 hours later saying from the person i got him from and it read "oh yeah he eats fine, just doesn't eat cat food".. Well no crap! Then i was horrified at what she told me she had been feeding him, vegetables, chicken, processed ham, processed chicken loaf, weetbix..... Ive also noticed the kitty makes a funny noise like a belly gurgle noise when we are hungry, and he has a bit of diarrhea :( what can i do for this poor thing. i think he was neglected, so sad.. Ill be taking him to the vets as soon as i can to get him checked over.. But for the time being can anyone suggest what to do as in food?? Oh ive tried kitten dry food and he wasn't interested in that either.

Can kittens eat adult cat treats?

The kitten can probably physically eat the cat treats, but they are probably not the best thing for the kitten. Kittens are really babies, or immature specimens, and a two month old kitten is a very young one, it's just been weaned. Give the kitten food that is formulated for kittens, because kittens need food that's denser in nutrition than adult cats.

Incidentally, never give cats or kittens milk. You can give kittens that should be nursing a kitten milk replacer, but cats and older kittens lose the enzyme that helps them digest milk, which means that they will have unfortunate bowel problems, ranging from excessive farting (which is quite bad enough) to explosive diarrhea. It's a pity, because most cats and kittens love milk.

What should one-month-old kittens eat?

Ideally, one-month-old kittens should still be drinking their mother’s milk, and mother should be given as much as she wants of a high quality cat food. Kitten food works rather well because it has a lot of calories.Your one-month-old kittens might want to try solid food for the first time this week or next. They will most likely try mom’s food, and if she is eating kitten food, especially wet kitten food, they will probably be interested enough to try it once they are mobile enough to check it out.If one-month-old kittens are orphaned or abandoned, and you can’t find another mom cat who will accept them (mother cats tend to be quite accepting of strange kittens if they are around their own kittens’ age), you will need to feed them kitten milk. Don’t feed cow’s milk; it tends to give them horrible diarrhea because kittens are lactose-intolerant, and a small animal the size of a kitten can dehydrate quickly.Buy kitten milk from a pet store or from a vet, and put it in a small bottle that your kittens can suck from. Since they’re four weeks old, they may actually be old enough to drink from a saucer and try solid kitten food if they happen to be orphans; there’s no harm in offering them some at this age. It will be messy, but a kitten’s first experiences with solid food always are.If your kittens are orphaned, you should probably also schedule a vet appointment; abandoned kittens have often not had a very good environment to grow up in, and may have health problems that need to be treated.
