Is It Cheating If You Know The Questions To An Exam

I think I got caught cheating in my exam?

To start off, I know cheating is a big mistake. It's all my fault. If I could go back in time, I wouldn't have done it. I feel incredibly guilty.
I did an exam this week. At the very last minute, when the examiner was collecting the papers, I asked my friend who sat in front of me for an answer for one of the questions. I didn't know what I was thinking. I just panicked-I needed to know the answer. I wasn't aware that there was a CCTV on the ceiling in front of me. I'm not sure if anyone saw the it or not. Today, my entire grade was called back to the room which was used for the exam by the principal. By then, almost the entire room of tables and chairs were taken away. I noticed that my table was there in the corner along with a few others(one was my friend's and she cheated). I knew it was my table because the candidate numbers were tagged on them. During the meeting with the principal, she scolded us for our behaviour and wrong doings(games, skipping classes). She didn't mention about those who cheated. Now, I'm wondering why my table was there. It can't be coincidence because my friend who cheated's desk was far from mine. Sometimes desks are left there for people who wanted to use the room, but I'm extremely scared and worried. My parents paid 300 for the exam and it's extremely important. If caught, I will be disqualified and all my papers will be rejected. I might even need to stay back a grade or worse- get expelled. I'm actually a good student. I follow the rules, I come on time, I don't skip classes or play games. But I didn't know what came over me during the exam. I just freaked out.
Do you think I was caught?
and does anyone have any advice on what I should do?

Is it ok if a teacher gives you questions from the paper before the actual exam class 10 sa1?

No, it's not....it's called cheating and you'll fail if you rely on it.I am not sure why a teacher would do that but I guess the teacher didn't teach the students well. So, he/she feared his/her job might get in danger if a lot of students failed. Hence, he/she might have given the questions before the sa1.It may make the students very happy and they may start thinking that the teacher is the best in the world, but believe me, that teacher is ruining students' lives. This is only a one time thing. You will never get the board exam questions before you actually appear in it. And the sa1 are organised to help you prepare for boards. So, even if you get good marks in sa1 by cheating, you will get very bad marks in boards if you rely on that stupid teacher. So, even if you get the questions now, remember that sa1 doesn't count anywhere. Your main focus should be board exams and you should prepare for them by heart. This is about your life, not the teacher's life. So, make the best out of it, don't let that teacher ruin it.

How does it feel to see people cheating on an exam when you have prepared for it honestly?

I did cheat in exams at times, but I was mostly the one who would tell the answers. I would generally tell the answers to: a) People who on gaining a few marks would not threaten my rank. These were generally my friends. b) People who needed it badly. You know there are always a few who never get well with numbers or reactions. Helping them get the passing marks will save them from re-exam or worse - repeating a year. (I didn't think that deep back then, but I knew I wasn't doing a very bad thing either.) That was until 10th grade. In the 10th grade boards, something tragic happened.I was writing my Biology paper. I was sure of all my answers, but didn't get a half mark question (a compulsory one, so couldn't attempt any other for it). I asked my neighbor who was four feet to my right (pretty large hall, with three invigilators). He said he knew it, and well he finally told it. After the exam, I was probably the happiest person - expecting full marks in a subject and having defeated the system by copying. It was latter that I felt more proud of. And then I suddenly realize that I had written the wrong question number for the entire 10 marks sub-question. The same one that I had copied. "Karma" you say? Could be. As expected, I got 90/100 in bio. This incident certainly changed my outlook to copying. Loosing 10 marks dropped my percentage considerably. Depressed (my percentile was 80% in my class , so you know I felt low.) Didn't study really hard in first few months eleventh standard. Sucked at coaching. Suddenly started feeling the reason why people copied. (Once came 3rd in a test by doing selective copying of people who came 5th and 7th, in a batch of 200!). Obviously didn't feel good about it. Realized my story is coming close to that of a particular child who is good till tenth and then sucks in eleventh. Why all this shit and how is this related to the question? Well, all I want to tell is that not everybody who copies is "Wicked by nature" or does it to become "cool". There are few bunch who do it for above purposes, but there are also a few who are helpless or are having a tough time. Again, not all are like this, but at least a few are. May be you could help your friend who has changed with time, or at least ask him to do so without showing superiority.

Have you ever cheated on a big test/exam/final?

If so, how? And why?

Don't you know that the teacher can easily see if you cheated off someone else? Or did you get someone to text you the answers? Either way, if you get caught, you could get ISS and a 0, where as you would most likely get higher than a 0 if you did not cheat on the test. Plus, I am too good to do it:)

Is this considered cheating?

Hi everyone, I'm in college and currently taking online courses. When I am taking an exam, I often look up the multiple choice question on Google, even if I know the answer so I can ensure that my answer is right. I have severe test anxiety and I get OCD when I'm unsure if the answer is correct so I look up the question to make sure. I do not do this with my regular homework assignments or group discussions. Only on my exams. Is this considered cheating or nah? Also, my exams are considered "open book". Thanks!

Cheating on university exams?

. I am in my 4th year and I've seen a lot at the exams. Some of my colleagues tried to cheat with mobile phones. They made pictures of the courses and they uploaded the pics on the phone. The teachers got the idea and now they don't allow phones at the exam. My colleagues now use an invisible hands-free device to cheat. It's so small it's invisible. I bet that if they get caught they will be expelled...
It is true that some professors allow to be cheated. Some will read the newspaper or read a book. But most don't allow cheating and they are always on the hunt. Btw tomorrow I have an exam so I better go study some more lol.

Is it consider cheating if you ask an earlier class about an exam that both classes take?

I think there is something else buried in this question that should be addressed separately. I agree with Ira Kessel's answer to Is it consider cheating if you ask an earlier class about an exam that both classes take? How would a student know that both exams are the same? Professors normally switch their exams around or make new ones (or at least are required to often times). Unless the professor tells them it is the same exam, there is little to no way to know this.If you knew the exam was the same and asked another student that already took it about very specific details, I think it is irresponsible of the instructor to leave that possibility open by using a duplicate exam. I think a student if they know the exact same exam, they should not ask about it but unless the university has clear guidelines about this, there would be no way to prevent it.If you did not know they were the same exam. Then it becomes very gray. I know my students ask other students about exams, and they don’t tend to do much better as I change my exams every term when/if I teach. I usually recommend not asking other students if you want an actual challenge, but sometimes it is to your benefit to have some idea of the difficulty of an exam, so it depends on the types of questions you ask.You got to keep in mind that academic discussion is an invaluable tool, but review what your school’s rules are or ask your professor if this is OK if not. I know some professors for example have no problem with students talking to one another about their assignments or materials, but the thing is they have to do their assignment still on their own (meaning no copying). I mean, how would you distinguish a study group from somebody asking something like this? It would be hard to tell, unless that individual gave you a lot more than what the professor provided (which would be unfair).

What was your last exam cheating experience in college?

I last cheated in an exam when I was in 8th standard. It was a class test. The subject was Hindi. The paper was really easy. I was able to answer it completely except just one question worth 0.5 marks. I knew if I get this answer, I'll get full marks. 20/20! But even after trying so hard, I couldn't remember the answer. Desperate to get a full score, I asked the person sitting next to me.We used to have 2 sets of papers. Set A and Set B. So we both had different papers, but still he told me the answer. I wrote the answer and was happy that I'll get 20/20.On the day the answer sheets were shown, as expected, I had secured 20/20. I happily went to my friends who were standing in a group and discussing who's got how much, and told them I have got 20/20. The boy who told me the answer on the exam day was also standing there. He also had secured 20/20. And he said, "Actually tere 19.5 hone chahiye. Wo to maine tujhe ek answer bta diya tha isiliye tere 20/20 aa gye". (translation: Actually, you should have secured 19.5 marks. It was just because I happened to tell you an answer that you got 20/20).Everybody started looking at me. They kept saying, I cheated to get 20/20 and I am bragging about it and I am such a shameless person. That day, I felt so embarrassed that I literally felt like crying. I was a good student in school. Always finished in top 5 of my class. I never felt so insulted before. For me those marks were like a beggar's coins. I had to beg to someone to get them. That day I vowed to never cheat again in my life. Most of my friends laughed at me. But I held onto my decision. 6 years later, now here I am, at an IIT, doing my B.tech and I still don't cheat in an exam. I try to sit on the first bench just in front of the invigilator so that I don't have to care about someone whispering me to ask a question. For those who are laughing while reading this answer and thinking, "LOL this is so stupid", "So childish", "a fake story. Everybody cheats", etc etc. No. Not everyone is like you. Some people value self respect more than marks. I would rather be happy scoring 10/20 myself than scoring 20/20, out of which I cheated for about 15 marks from someone else.

Is it cheating to study the Test Bank?

Yes, it is cheating.

You are supposed to be doing all your own work on the test, and if you use the test bank to help you prepare, you're not doing your own work. If you had stumbled onto the test bank before the first exam, had used it to prepare, and had notified your professor during the exam that you recognized the questions, that would not have been cheating. But now that you know that the questions are drawn from the test bank, using the test bank to prepare is cheating.

If the professor could prove that you used the test bank, yes, you could potentially be in trouble. How much trouble is likely to depend largely on the campus culture: if you're at a school where the students wrote and enforce the honor code, cheating is a much bigger deal than if you're at a school where discipline is imposed from above and the administrators care more about retention than standards.
