Is It Fair For A Teacher To Have A Progress Report And Grade It Even Though It

Can grades be re submitted after teacher has already submitted them?

Grades can be resubmitted. Talk to your teacher about it. They can change it, but this report card may look bad for the time being - just know that it will get fixed and your GPA will be fine so long as you really did turn in those assignments. Your teacher should help you even if the assignments were lost for some reason.

EDIT: Sorry, I'm not a 100% certain that they can change it, but I'm pretty sure they can. I don't think they would just let you fail (Or is that a D?) if you're a good student and that was a mistake. I would definitely talk to your guidance counselor about it. Be sure to frequently check your grades online so that something like this can get fixed earlier (Unless that was just the teacher's fault for being lazy and waiting until the last minute to put your grades in.... >.> I hate when teachers do that)
I hope you can get it fixed!

I can't show my parents my progress report because I have bad grades :(?

I'm basically failing my grade. I have all Cs, Ds, and one F. They want a conference with them. they wrote that on my report. If I don't turn it in, the teachers will get me in trouble and I could be suspended or something. I'm scared because my parents will spank me because of my grades. I can't face them. Is there any way to give it to them and have them sign it without getting in trouble? This is way too much stress...

My teacher won't put in my grades?

Wait wait wait.

You refused to do your work in the first instance, then turned it all in late, and now you're mad at the teacher because you're not getting your grades?

Talk about an entitled little brat.

The teacher does not HAVE to do anything, even if she said she would - it could be against school policy to allow slack little lazy brats to do things this way.

If YOU want your grades, maybe you should have done your work in the first place!

Can a HS teacher grade a student and refuse to give the student any of his tests for the whole semester? When asked about the tests he said that he does not have them anymore. Can this be a good basis for us to challenge his license?

I do not think you can challenge his license, but you can ask the principal, not vice-principal(s), to look into retrieving these tests for you so that you, as the parent, can get the feedback you need on your child’s progress. The principal will be pissed. S/he will contact the teacher and ask to see all the progress reports and anything else related to the student. If the tests are gone, the principal will be furious. There is always retribution for preventable problems coming to the office. Some of those revenge moves are enough to encourage them to quit teaching.See the principal first. Dress in a business suit, expect clear, precise answers, and do not leave until you have some satisfaction. Principals are a lot more concerned about parents going over their head to the school board and the superintendents.Start there. If nothing happens, write and let me know and I will explain the next step.

Can gym teachers give bad grades based on weight?

this will go nowhere. if you aren't so athletic, you are not capable of earning an A. that would be unfair to the really talented athletes who are getting A's. The same goes for ANY class. Should you get an A in math just because you are trying really hard, or an A in English because you really like the class. Everyone must EARN what they get, and if they don't have that natural skill well, that's just the way the world works. Good luck to you. You sound like a smart girl (who is good but not perfect in PE).Relax and enjoy your abilities..

Can a teacher give any grade they want?

Ultimately, the teacher has the final discretion and determination of grade. That said, it should be noted that any ethical teacher will do the following things:
1. Explain their grading structure up front to people involved.
2. Send home a syllabus for coursework to establish grading assessments and classroom/grading expectations and procedures.
3. Send out regular, periodic progress reports to inform a student of their progress and performance in their coursework.
4. Be objective and fair in their evaluations of student work.
5. Provide a variety of means to evaluate and grade a student (e.g. worksheets, essays, tests/quizzes, presentations, projects, etc.)

By doing the above, it should ensure that a student is aware of their progress in the class, keep the teacher's evaluation at a fair and accurate level, and eliminate biased grading by teachers.

Stupid teacher gave me wrong grade, what do i do?

Well, if I were your teacher, I would have rounded up your grade to 87 (provided you didn't call me stupid behind my back!) I suggest that you appeal to your teacher's sense of fairness rather than quote mathematical principles, which I suspect are not your strong point. Mathematically, your teacher is perfectly entitled to round down your mark. It's called "rounding to even". It's also referred to as "unbiased rounding" or "banker's rounding". So, for example, 85.5 rounds up to 86 (an even number); 86.5 rounds down to 86 (an even number). I'd never use it with my students because I give them the benefit of the doubt and round up. However, your teacher could justify his/her decision mathematically and there is nothing you could do about it. My advice is to suck it up and suck up to your teacher. Good luck!

One of my friends copied my lab report. How should I tell the teacher without sounding whiny? Should I tell a teacher?

Try to inform the teacher of the situation without making it about you. Say that you might be concerned about the friend and their progress in the subject, and suggest that they might be struggling, which led them to copy your work instead. By making it about them, you'll sound more like a concerned friend than a whiny teacher's pet.
