Is It Illegeal To Lend Money

Is it illegal to lend someone a dvd in the uk?

As long as you legally purchased the DVD, there is no reason you can not lend it to someone to view (as you might a book), as long as they also agree to abide by the copyright laws and not copy it or redistribute it. There might be some language on the license agreement that attempts to stifle this, but I wouldn't think it is enforceable in this case.

Lending money?

it is legal but you should draw up a contract with all of the details, amount loaned, interest rate charged, monthly payments, length of loan and consequences if they default, you both sign get it notarized and both keep copies

Is lending money for interest illegal?

Lawful for friends and family to lend money to each other anywhere in the world, and lawful for them to charge interest. In some countries, there may be a cap on the interest rate for privately made loans. If memory serves, the law in Hong Kong has it that interest at 48% p.a. or over will be presumed to be excessive. If the lending is in the manner of a money-lending business, then understandably such a business will have to be registered and licensed by the authorities. This is the same worldwide. Then the maximum interest rate will be stated in the law. It’s better for you to find out what your country’s rules are for your kind of loan transaction than knowing about the rules in our countries. Thanks for the A2A.

Is it legal to lend money to people for profit?

Yes, at least in Western countries. Banks do it every day. So do private individuals who are loaning money to family members or even unrelated persons. The promissory note will specify a rate of interest which must be paid in addition to the loan principal.

Is it illegal to steal back money people owe you?

If you "lend" someone money without a loan agreement they could just as easily say you gave them the money as a gift. You would have no way to prove otherwise. His word against yours.

Under these conditions, if you take the money back, it is stealing as there is no proof it was your money in the first place. So where you could not prove you loaned him the money, he could quite likely prove you stole it.

If you did a loan agreement then you got the means of getting the money back by going to court. It is in writing that loaned him the money and he knows he has to pay it back.

Under these conditions you take him to court, there is no need to steal it back as the law and the paperwork is on your side.

If loan sharks are illegal, then can you just take money from them and not pay them back, and then report them to the police if they harass you?

Clearly if this is your intention then you have a criminal mentality yourself. What do you know of the reality of dealing with loan sharks? Some may send someone to break your arms, that has been known to happen when dealing with loan sharks. Do you think if you report them to the police the police will keep you safe?Betraying a loan shark by not paying can have serious consequences and reporting them to the police is only adding to the fire.If you intend to report them I would certainly do it without ever taking their money. We live in a society where most people play by the rules. Loan Sharks are people that do not play by the rules so already you are dealing with a possible psycho path or sociopath. Loan Sharking is a business with many people involved and have a serious interest in it. Does it seem so simple to you to simply do away with Loans Sharks by reporting them to the police and take their money?I would think most law enforcement agencies or department already spend a great resource and amount of money fighting loan sharks. Play one side or the other, be law abiding or become a criminal. You are talking about being fair with people that do not care about being fair. Cheating those that cheat others in the name of fairness, sounds good, but that line of thinking can as much as get you killed. If you want to report them report them but in no circumstances would I ever suggest that taking money from them with the express intent to never pay it back is a good idea. Its not a good idea if you borrow from a bank with that intention and its certainly not a good idea to try that with loan sharks but to each his own. I am sure you are not a child any longer. If you are seeking social approval I doubt very much that you will get it, not from any responsible or caring individual. What if in the process of helping you a law enforcement officer lost his or her life? What would you do then?Anyway I am sure you are going to do what you are going to do. To me dealing with loan sharks is just generally not a good idea no matter what way you choose to interact with any of them.

Is borrowing/lending a DVD illegal?

I bought a LEGAL copy of a DVD movie. I want my friend to watch it, so I lend it to him/her. DVD is watched, then returned the next day. Is this illegal? Please answer if you're sure only. Thank you!

Is it wrong to lend money on interest?

If you are lending money to help a friend or family member, then I’d say that it's certainly frowned upon to include interest. I’d see it in the same way as someone offering a favour, but with strings attached. Whether it's right or wrong, is entirely subjective. However, institutions which lend money for profit - they need to include interest in their transactions. That's simply how they make money. This is not immoral, or wrong. If it makes you uncomfortable - then just stay away from them.
