Is It Important To Call The College You Intend To Go To Before Graduation.

Parents won't let me go to college of my choice?

Is in state still less $$$$ then out of state, they are most likely thinking of that, no matter who pays the loan they are looking out for your interest. Dear heart they love you is why they do not want you to live alone, live in dorm first year, both my grand daughters did the first year, you will not find out how the money does fly they have your interest at heart, both my grands went in state, one just finished 5 years, the older dropped out 3rd year because of loan payments, to get a full time job, their parents and I helped them with some money
along the way, and sad as it is $$$ problem is worse all
over nation, It sounds like they are wanting you to conserve
and be closer to home it makes sense, you could always transfer another year. good luck

If I already graduated from college w/an Associate Degree, can the college later revoke the degree?

I ask because one college course that I took required that I find and use a proctor (note: this one course was taken online through the College. All other courses were taken on campus).

Now, the proctor was fired from the company we both worked for due to misconduct and now she is pissed off at the world and someone told me that she was going to call the College and say I forged her name on the proctored exam that required her certification (signature). She's trying to get the school to revoke my Associate Degree.

If I've already graduated and received my degree and transcripts, can the College turn around and revoke my degree over this one [FALSE] accusation?

All my other courses were taken without the need for a proctor, so can the College just take away my degree?

I'm not sure if its important or not, but I don't owe the school any money.

Does graduating with honors in college really matter?

If one of your objectives for college is getting a job, then seeking ways to differentiate yourself from all the other college graduates is important. All things being equal, a BA or BS with honors is better than the same BA or BS without honors. Only a few percent of students do the extra work—and it shows well on a resume. You may also learn something—a significant part of what college should be about. On the other hand, a marketable degree is more important than doing an honors program (and I am assuming that is the kind of honors you are talking about, rather than Latin Honors, which every student should work toward achieving). So, if you have a choice of doing an honors program in a non-marketable degree (say medieval culture—trying to find an obscure one) or not doing honors in a marketable degree (say computer science)—it is probably a wiser career choice to study something that has jobs when your are finished with college. If you intend to go to graduate school—either academic or professional—then achieving Latin Honors is very important and an honors program would be seen as a positive.

Do graduate schools look at cumulative or major GPA?

For graduate programs in the humanities and social sciences, they will probably look at cumulative as well as "last 60 semester/90 quarter unit" GPA (the equivalent of major GPA since you do most of your upper division major coursework in the last two years of your college career). The criteria may vary a bit from program to program, so you will need to look them up or call the graduate programs you are interested in applying to inquire.

I asked a professor for a letter of recommendation by email, but didn't receive a response. What next?

I'm in the process of applying to graduate schools, and need to ask former professors for letters of recommendation. One professor I emailed knew me very well and has written another recommendation letter for me in the past, and I feel fairly confident he would do it again... but he hasn't responded to the email I sent him (2 weeks ago). I emailed another professor as well, one who I'm not as sure remembers me well enough to write me a letter, but he has not responded either. What is the appropriate protocol in this situation? Does a lack of response generally indicate they would rather not write the letter, or do most professors write back to clarify that they can't/won't write a letter (and in this case they just might be busy)? Is it appropriate to send another email to ask them again, or is that poor manners?

I know emails aren't the best way to get a response from a busy professor, but I currently live out of the country, so I can't ask them in person and phone calls aren't exactly an easy option either...

Marriage as a freshman & sophomore in college?

I am currently a freshman in college and my boyfriend is current a senior in high school. We really want to get married after he turns 18, as we know we aren't going to break up and such. We feel ready for this and have talked about it for a while... And before you assume that we are stupid teenagers, we really aren't... We're both mature, never had any relationship problems, are ready to settle down and all that jazz. No kids yet, though, because we both intend on going to grad school (I'll probably be in school for 12 or so years). What are the pros and cons of this type of marriage? Is it right to go against my mother's judgment and marry young when we are sure this is right for us? We will both be living on campus at college and such, so where we live and finances shouldn't really be a concern.

How does a non-NLU law graduate get a job with a Top Tier Law Firm in India?

The answer to this question doesn't lies in "how" but in "why".Why would a top tier law firm hire you?I graduated from a decent college in pune wellknown in India but is not a national law school but seriously it does not matter. National law school just give you an edge in getting campus placement to law firms but there are lawyer from nlus as well who are not taken in top tier law firm and the reason is same that is the risk associated with hiring incompetent people in law firms is greater than any other place. Now answering your concern -Since you have been not able to work where you want, you must build a strategy to get into that place. Choose a career - litigation, contracts attorney, IP, Derivatives, Compliance etc. Join a smaller firm keeping in mind the chosen career path Try getting important and relevant work in relevant fields and keep jotting down what you work. This will help in building your resume.Consider your current employment as an internship just to learn and keep learning until you master. Based on my personal experience - Don't let anybody know that you intend to leave your current organisation. This will help you in getting important work and trust or your supervisors /seniors. Even if you are working in litigation as you mentioned keep jotting down whatever you do and keep trying to get work which is respected in industry and is a necessary work done in firm you intend to enter. Do it independently. While references are not a necessary criteria for getting in better place, some law firms have this criteria, so start networking and try to get reference letters. Corporate legal department don't have this criteria.Have patience - wait until you have a good resume which will have atleast 10 reasons for law firms /desired workplace to hire you. This might take at least 2-3 years and depends on industry. Litigation needs 5 years. Keep updating your resume on job websites with new achievements. You don't have the option until you answer yourself why law firms will hire you. Trust me I have seen many people who worked for 8-10k a month and after their learning period they got into top tier law firms with 70-80k salary.
