Is It Just Me Or Is Evanescence The Best Band Ever

Is the band Evanescence goth?

Hi! thanks for the A2A…Well, the term “goth” involves a lot of varieties. For me all the varieties below would make it into that genre…let’s see if you notice the differences in sound or darkness of the songs and looks of the members of the bands to those of the ones in Evanescence.Starting with what gothic rock sounds like…And there is also dark electro, synth-pop and ebm which you’ll find a lot of goths liking…I started by accident with this band below and Marilyn Manson… which I didn’t even know it fitted into the gothic cathegory. When I first llistened to their tunes they weren’t as popular as they are now. But then we found a place where they played these bands and from there we met goth people, who gradually passed us songs and shared their music. At first I only liked aggressive guitars, but gradually moved into all sorts of gothic styles as you can appreciate through all these song above and below. ;DThe first Marilyn Manson I ever listened was from this album below. Which was for me a different type of Grunge and punk, as I was already into grunge when I discovered Rammstein and Marilyn Manson. But then there is also a whole world of music which fits the goth category like; Then you also have gothic metal and doomAnd then I guesss after such a selection one listens to Evanescensce…. and one thinks “bleh”… is more like gothic posing than actual gothic itself.A lot of gothic people also loved Placebo, but then there is also a great number of people who like Placebo and aren’t into gothic music or style. It is easy to like the song below like it’s easy to like Evanescence songs…or Him… or those Emo-bands like Bullet for my Valentine.. or whatever they’re called. However to get to love tunes like the ones below is more of an acquired taste I think…for all the broken ones.So I guess, no, for me Evenescence aren’t really properly a “goth” band. But then for a lot of people most of the music I’ve put there may not fit into their understanding of “gothic” music, so for them they might be “gothic” enough. What they are is a commercial copy of the back then more gothic and less commercial Lacuna Coil…at least for me.

What are some bands similar to Evanescence?

Within TemptationLeaves' EyesLacuna CoilTristaniaThe GatheringTheatres des VampiresTheatre of TragedyParadise LostAfter ForeverIn This MomentJust a few of my favorites.  They all have that same Gothic metal crunch and several of them utilize a doubling of female vocals over male rapping, growling, screaming or singing.

Is Evanescence a good band?

shouldn't it be ..are evanescence a good band? ..never really sure on that one, anyway i like them but whether or not that makes them a good band, well it's all subjective isn't it, I think Amy lee has a great voice you might disagree I also like the dropkick murphys you probably don't but that doesn't necessarily make them a good or bad band, people have different tastes which is just as well, think how boring it would be if we all liked the same thing...so yea it's a thumbs up from me.

What songs should I listen to if I like “Bring Me to Life” by Evanescence and “Boulevard of Broken Dreams” by Green Day?

First, if you haven’t already, try some other songs by Evanescence and Green Day. If what you are looking for things similar to what you already like, the best thing to do is to find more songs by the same bands, since those songs will be the most similar. Now, after that, my best way to recommend is to tell you some other bands that people who like Evanescence and Green Day seem to like.I’ll start with Evanescence, because it’s the first one you had listed. So, my cousins are HUGE Evanescence fans. The bands that I’ve found are most similar to Evanescence that they listen to are We Are The Fallen and Halestorm. (I know that songs they rave about are Bury Me Alive, Familiar Taste of Poison and Here’s To Us, so maybe those would be good to start with.) They also love Skillet, Black Veil Brides, Korn… I’m trying to remember other ones, but those are what I know they listen to. The last three are a little too heavy for me, so I’m not sure how you’ll feel about that, but maybe try it out anyway, because you could be more like my cousins than me.Now, onto my personal recommendations, I suppose.I’m currently in the early stages of listening to Green Day, because I kind of went on a backwards track. You seem like you might be in the early stages, too, since you listed specific songs rather than just the bands in general. But I at least can vouch for my own recommendations, since I know and love (almost) all of the songs. So, without further ado, I would highly encourage that you check out Panic! at the Disco, Fall Out Boy and My Chemical Romance. (Songs to start with could maybe be: I Write Sins Not Tragedies, This is Gospel, LA Devotee; Sugar We’re Going Down, My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark, Jet Pack Blues; Welcome to the Black Parade, Famous Last Words, I Don’t Love You…) I could go on and on, but I shouldn’t overwhelm you with my excitement over these wonderful songs. Haha. Now, even though I grouped them based on Evanescence as one category and Green Day as another, all of these bands can go together, and my cousins’ and my bands can all be grouped together in one big thing of good songs. It’s really less of a grouping of “Evanescence” and “Green Day”, and more of a grouping of “cousins” and “me (and brother and two other cousins)”. Haha.Alright, I hope you find what you enjoy! Good luck, and happy music listening!

Can someone please tell me why the band Evanescence is so popular?

For the people saying " Have you ever heard Amy Lee's voice."... Yes of course I have. Has anyone ever heard Tarja Turunen's voice? Anette Olzon's voice? Or Sharon den Adel's voice? Plus, have you even listented to Nightwish and Within Temptation ever or heard of them?

New bands like Evanescence, Nightwish, Muse...?

Great band list ;D Seriously.

EDIT:

Ugh, I love how I spent all that time sorting through the related genres in my music library, picking ONE song from each artist, and typing it up, and I STILL manage to get a thumbs down. It's not like I copied/pasted this list, people ....

EDIT 2:

Haha, points deducted for complaining. Shame on me!

EDIT 3:

Thanks Joey :] It's just that I never know what someone's going to dis/like, and I want to make sure I give 'em plenty of options.

Do metalheads listen to Evanescence?

This is the most vague question I ever have and likely ever will answer. Why?Because you just asked if hundreds of thousands of people listen to one single band. Here’s the first thing.Evanescence is a metal genre. Like it or not, they’re metal. They’re nu-metal, which is, in fact, a metal genre. I don’t care if you dislike them, that doesn’t make them not metal. So, considering they’re a metal genre, that means the answer to your question is an immediate, definite yes. A better question, which I will answer, is which metalheads listen to Evanescence.Personally, I’m a metalhead that, more than anything, follows Thrash, Death, Groove and Heavy Metal. That means I generally don’t like bands like Evanescence. I don’t normally like a whole lot of nu-metal— my nu-metal library is actually quite short.Evanescence, however, is part of that small group.Evanescence get a lot of hate for reasons I don’t understand. I understand people hating on them because they’re part of the metal community and don’t sound very metal, but in reality, there are a lot of bands that don’t sound metal that are part of the genre. But I think, at least if no one else in Evanescence is, that Amy Lee is extremely talented. Her voice range is quite wide, and she has a definitely unique voice, not to mention her incredible song-writing skills.Considering Evanescence is nu-metal, I’ll answer the question I made with your question so easily as this: Evanescence is nu-metal. Nu-metal is a cross between metal and hip-hop. Therefore, metalheads who enjoy hip-hop, or Nu-metalheads, listen to Evanescence.Case closed, we’re done here.

Within Temptation vs Evanescence?

Evanescence for sure. Within Temptation is a great band, but I like Amy Lee's vocals, lyrics, and piano work better than those of Within Temptation. I can better identify with Amy Lee.

Why do people think that Evanescence is EMO??????

Well it goes to Amy Lee. Some refer to her as Hollywood's depressed girl, because of her lyrics and the music videos. You know that song "Tourniquet" in Fallen? That was like a really dark song. So that's where everyone gets the idea Amy Lee's emo, but I think that she really isn't emo, she's just into the dark stuff.
