Is It Legal For Two People To Ride On A Bicycle Meant For One

Can two people successfully ride a tandem bicycle, if only one of them knows how to ride a bike?

Yes.  Me and my  partner have a tandem and she had barely ridden a bike solo before, and still wobbles with little confidence.  On the back of our tandem she can sit pedalling away, no handed.   If we ride vice versa, and I'll be making weight corrections from the back, while she makes NO corrections at the front - and we crash.  Every time. You do need a bit of confidence in each other though, and it's definitely a bit of a learning curve in there.  For example, it's easily possible to ride a tandem from the back seat, with no-one on the front - in other words, the stoker can steer by leaning!  Up front it's more upper body work than on a solo, and you have to think ahead considerably   You can't change direction with a flick of the hips like on a racer, and stopping takes a lot longer.  Don't ride in traffic on your first go.Communication is everything, as the stoker can't see what's coming and feels bumps in road much more.  I call out 'bump' out of habit now - sometimes even when I'm in the car....As for dates, well, a friends son borrows our tandem to take all his dates out on for romantic picnics, so it works for him...

Is this bike meant for two people?

I dont know a whole lot about motorcycles/sport bikes lol. But my boyfriend is getting the 2012 Kawasaki Ninja 650r. It definitely does not look like a bike meant for two, but he insists it is. So is it safe for a passenger or no?

How can one people ride two bikes at a time?

When we were kids and one of us wanted a friend to take his bike home, we'd ride our own bike with our left hand and hold onto the handlebar of the other bike with the right. If you did it just right, the second bike would follow along nicely. Were we actually riding the second bike? Well, close enough. Also, what about things like the WeeRide child trainer? Is that a second bike? If I attach one to my bike and ride without a kid on the back, am I riding two bikes at a time?

I obviously got up too early this morning.

Is it illegal to drive a car with people in your trunk?

In most places, yes. It's an endangerment to the occupants.

How many people ride a motorcycle?

Question: My wife and I have a larger motorcycle and love to ride. We have a six-year-old grandchild that wants to go along. The state motorcycle guide says you should not have a child ride in front of you, but behind you instead. It doesn't say you can't, it says you shouldn't. It also says the passenger must be able to reach the foot pedals. My question is, can our grandchild ride (sandwiched) between us? I feel this would be safe, but is it legal?Answer: The motorcycle guide is not the law, it is a summary, and your interpretation of what it says may be incorrect. It would not be legal and would not be safe. Motorcycles are not designed for three people (unless there is a sidecar or similar). Here is part of the motorcycle law concerning passengers:M.S.S. 169.974 Subdivision 5(a) An operator of a motorcycle shall ride only upon a permanent and regular seat which is attached to the vehicle for that purpose. No other person shall ride on a motorcycle; except that passengers may ride upon a permanent and regular operator's seat if designed for two persons, or upon additional seats attached to the vehicle to the rear of the operator's seat, or in a sidecar attached to the vehicle; provided, however, that the operator of a motorcycle shall not carry passengers in a number in excess of the designed capacity of the motorcycle or sidecar attached to it. No passenger shall be carried in a position that will interfere with the safe operation of the motorcycle or the view of the operator.(b) No person shall ride upon a motorcycle as a passenger unless, when sitting astride the seat, the person can reach the footrests with both feet.(c) No person, except passengers of sidecars or drivers and passengers of three-wheeled motorcycles, shall operate or ride upon a motorcycle except while sitting astride the seat, facing forward, with one leg on either side of the motorcycle.Parts of state statutes were used with permission from the Office of the Revisor of Statutes. Thanks for asking, I hope this clears it up for you.

What advantages does a tandem bicycle have over two single bikes?

Tandems are heavy and slower traveling up-hill, but they are often faster on the level and down-hill. Two big advantages are being able to have a conversation and arriving at the same time.

Can I ride a bicycle on a highway in India?

Of course yes. There are many riders, cyclists riding on highways. People here in India also do some awareness campaign in bicycle riding to different cities on the highway carrying/conveying their message ( Theme Of Awareness they are trying to convey ).We should make sure that we don’t not cross the space given for two wheelers in a highway which may increase the chance of accidents. The left most border of a road is meant for two wheelers. So you can ride bicycles on highways India. Ride safe. Happy cycling._Naresh

Does anyone know of a way to connect two bicycles together besides using a tandem bike?

I have seen a couple of set ups that join two bikes together. Some side by side and some nose to tail.(similar to a "tag a long")

I'm quite sure the ones I have seen are "do it yourself jobs". They look quite ungainly and I wouldn't recommend anybody copy them.

There may be other options depending on how much vision you still have. Since you are talking joining two bikes I will assume your not interested riding solo following a high visibility leader.

Tandems (and tridems) are easily the most common form of cycling for vision impaired people.Your problem seems more about moving them around.

I have a tandem and move it around on a standard tow bar (hitch) mounted carrier. If I drop the wheels of it is about the same width as the car. The wheels are quick release and only take seconds to get on and off. The carrier holds the bike at an excellent height to do this.

I have also taken it on public transport. One person carries the wheels the other carries the rest.

The greatest thing about tandems is that there is none of that waiting for the other one to catch up.

I hope you can find this useful even though it doesn't specifically answer your question.
