Is It Legal To Take Pictures Without Consent

Is it illegal to take a picture of someone at school without consent?

It is not illegal regarding state and city laws. The school may have a policy to addresses media publication. So it is this policy that could be violated and punishment at the school level would be levied. Some rules are vague to allow judges and attorneys to invoke or determine. So maybe privacy of students, etcI was a photographer and a school police officer (at different times of my life). I was put on a case where a student took pictures of a ambulance medics treating a student patient. The paramedic asked the photographer of the university paper to move back 2–3 x. They made a complaint because it ‘was interfering with the medical procedures of the staff’. It is a rule that be used but with my photo journalism experience I felt it was an exaggeration.

Is it illegal to take of picture of someone without their consent when the subject of the?

Completely legal on PUBLIC property. On private property, it is an invasion of privacy without a model's release... which is why the paparazzi stand around in FRONT of a celebrities house on the street and not in the front yard... If they were IN the front yard, they could be prosecuted. That does not stop them from pointing a lens at the front door though. As long as they are on public property, they can take pictures of anything they can SEE even if what they SEE is on private property. You have no expectation of privacy when you can be seen from public property. If you leave the drapes open and someone take a picture of you parading around in your living room naked, too bad. There is NO law against taking that picture IF the person taking the picture is on the sidewalk... After all, it was YOU that left the drapes open and allowed/invited people to look inside your house from the street.

Taking pictures of people without consent?

What is the law regarding taking a picture of somebody without their knowledge or consent? I have read that it is legal in a public place and illegal in a private place. Is this accurate, and can somebody please elaborate on it? Thanks :)

If someone takes a cellphone picture of me without my consent, how can I make sure that they've deleted it?

This may come as a surprise, but you have no control over what they do with that photo in most situations. This is true in pretty much all of Europe, Asia and the Americas. There are some limits, fortunately. If they took the photo where you have an expectation of privacy, like while using the toilet, they may be running afoul of local laws (e.g. US state laws often cover this; also illegal in UK and Japan, and surely other places). Same for spy photos of intimate situations in a bedroom, if you know what I mean. Shooting these and then sexting it is illegal in most states in the US.Also, laws in most countries prevent them from using your likeness for promoting a business or product without your permission. This is called the Personality Rights (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Per...). Again, this exists in one form or another internationally.Further, you could have forbidden photography while on your premises. Many dance clubs and other venues post signs forbidding photography, for example. Or you may have told the person verbally. Either way, this makes "no photography" a condition for entry and violating this means that the person is now trespassing. Your house, your rules. But unless they agree to delete the photo(s) as a condition for remaining on the premises, all you can do is kick them out; maybe with the help of the police. You have no rights to force any photographer to delete a photo. Ever. When you are in a public place and people can see you, you have no rights to tell them not to look. Same with photography; you can't compel them to not shoot photos. You can cover yourself up, which solves both I guess, but that is your choice, you can't dictate how others act in public.

Is it illegal to take pictures of people without there permission?

It's not illegal to take photos of people in places where they have no expectation of privacy, such as in public. Nor is it illegal to sell photos taken in public. (The paparazzi don't need or obtain releases from celebs before selling images taken in public.) Technically, a school bus is private property, so you do have some expectation of privacy there. Your school has the authority to control the taking of photos on school property, and therefore, has jurisdiction over photos taken on the school bus. If you're concerned about the photos showing up on the web, talk to your principal. Don't expect anyone to find this as important as you do, or even consider it a problem.

Is it illegal to take pictures of the inside of someones house without premission in Georgia?

Can a person sue you for taking his or her picture without his consent?

Nope you can't , even if they broke into your house and started taking pictures of you ,you could not sue them for the pictures only breaking and entering. The most you can do is call the police and get the police to ask the person to delete your picture and they don't actually by law have to listen to him , furthermore it would actually be a crime if you or the police officer took the camera by force. The only way you could sue him is if he used your picture without your permission for commercial purposes and you could prove it was him who took the picture and used it for commercial purposes.

Is it legal to take someone's picture in a workplace without their consent?

In general, it is illegal, depending. A workplace is considered private property. Different rules apply with private vs. public property. Some random person (not your employer or someone working as an agent for your employer) could not photograph you without your permission. However, your employer or their legally designated agent may photograph you or record you and it's perfectly legal if they have "reasonable grounds" to do so. They can't do this in places where you would have a "reasonable expectation of privacy" such as a restroom.
