My laptop graphics card is not working. What should I do?

Please specify which graphic you using. Sometimes there are two problems, either hardware or software. So if it is the software problem then :1. If you don't see the NVIDIA graphics card listed under Device Manager, you can tell the graphics card is incorrectly detected by Windows. The common error that you would encounter fails to install NVIDIA Graphics driver. The problem can be caused by many reasons.2. reinstall the graphic driver. If it is the hardware problem then :1. Carefully unplug the graphics card and clean the ports then after assemble all that reinstall the driver.

GPU driver causes problems but card works fine without driver?

I have a Powercolor Radeon HD 7770 and recently it's been a pain in the ****. With the driver installed, the display randomly glitches out (sometimes BSOD) and I have to hard-reset my PC.

After I uninstalled all of my drivers (with a third party program), the card hasn't failed, and it's been a few weeks now. The problem is that I can't play any games or use GPU acceleration in Photoshop without the GPU drivers installed.

Also, I've tried installing many different versions of the 7770 drivers, to no avail. So what's the problem? If it was a hardware issue, the card probably wouldn't work at all, right? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is my graphics card dead or is my PCI-E slot not working?

This actually happened to me. At that time I did not know what was up, but later I discovered something. First thing first. Check the Monitor Cables. The VGA/DVI and the power cable. Ensure they are working. Also, check Graphics card cables. Many cards need an extra power cable connected to them. Check if that is connected. Then, connect the VGA cable to your motherboard port, and go to BIOS. There, look for something related to Display Configuration or PCI Configuration. Most likely, you have changed this to "Onboard VGA" which is causing this problem. If that doesn't do the trick then, move on to the next one.Boot up your computer using the onboard VGA port. Go to device manager and uninstall all graphics drivers. The computer will most likely reboot and the graphics card should be working now. Also check for any "Unknown Device". Uninstall them as well.If that doesn't work as well, then the last option is what others suggested. Check your graphics card in another PC. If that works then PCI slot is dead. To be sure check the PCI slot by putting in a working graphics card. You'll know by now what is faulty. Also, another thing that has come to my mind is that you could be running low in power. Check how much power your components need and how much does your PSU generate.Hope this helps. Good luck. :)

Graphic card fault test?

If you want to, try Furmark. It will stress your card and show some info on flaws in rendering. It will probably give a blue screen, but then you expect that.

You might also try the card in another machine to test and see if it blows up there too. I haven't seen any of these specific models as bad, but then again there probably are some. Yours might still be under warranty and in this case should be worth a replacement. The hoops you will have to jump through for this vary wildly and widely.
