Is It Normal To Feel Lightheaded Waking Up In The Morning

Hello i woke up this morning and felt light headed and a bit dizzy and off blanace, i throught nothingoff it?

There's probably some harmless reason for it. Maybe you are fighting a virus of some sort or perhaps you are simply overly tired from a busy weekend.

A less benign reason for dizziness upon waking might be the air you are breathing in during the night: Do you have carbon monoxide detectors in your house or flat? I'm not suggesting, by any stretch, that carbon monoxide fumes are leaking into your room, but go out and get a carbon monoxide detector just to make sure.

If your nights are cold enough to warrant turning on a heater, the vents that blow the warm air into each room might be dirty. This could cause an unwell feeling in the morning after rising.

Of course, you could have an ear infection which is causing the symptoms you describe; as a matter of fact, you might even have a condition called benign positional vertigo which can cause distressing dizziness in the afflicted person when he turns his head, sits up suddenly, bends down, or simply changes the position of the head for any reason. The disturbance can be corrected by exercises that can be found on the internet if not via your doctor. Best wishes for a better day tomorrow.

How do I avoid feeling dizzy after taking a bath in the morning?

Dizziness after a hot bath or shower is very common and there are a couple of different types of dizziness. By far the most common would be lightheadedness. You can imitate this by lying down on you bed with your head hanging down over the edge until you get a head rush than sit up quickly. What you are feeling is your brains response to what it interprets as not enough flow. Typically this should last less than a few seconds. When you have a hot bath you are causing the blood vessels to your skin to dilate. This is an attempt of your body to cool you down. Your blood pressure is the force pushing your blood up to your brain. As the blood vessels in your skin dilate, the blood pressure drops. When you are lying down, there isn’t much gravity to fight to get blood up to your brain so your brain stays pretty happy for now. Your blood pressure and heart rate stay low. When you stand up, blood has to fight gravity to get to your brain requiring more blood pressure or a faster heart rate. The message you receive that there isn’t enough flow is lightheadedness. If it gets really bad you can start getting tunnel vision and hollow hearing. This is now what we refer to as presyncopy - I am sure that is a Greek or Latin term meaning ‘better lie down cause your about to pass out’. Next stage is loss of consciousness.Hard to stop this completely. First, avoid things that make it worse. If you eat a meal before the bath you also have increased blood flow to your intestines which will make this effect worse. If you have done some rigorous excercise before, you have increased flow to your muscles, also making this worse. If you are on medications that control your blood pressure it will also make this worse. How to make it better? Sit up in the tub for a few minutes and stand up slowly. Or get someone to dump a bucket of cold water in the tub and soak in it for the last few minutes before you get out. There is another type of dizziness you can get but it feels very different than lightheadedness and is very rare, so not worth worrying about for most of you.

Why do I wake up feeling soo dizzy/light-headed?

There are lots of reasons why you would feel dizzy - causes include insufficient sleep, use of drugs or alcohol before bed, use of sleep aids, or poor nutrition.
Medically, such dizziness can be associated with blood pressure(high or low), respiratory problems(bronchitis, COPD), hyper or hypo glycemia, low iron count, ear or sinus infection, and a host of other disorders.
Try waiting a full minute or more before rising - to give your head a chance to clear. A light snack before bed might well cure both the dizziness and the headaches - both of which can result from inadequate nutitrion.

Why am I feeling dizzy when I wake up in the morning?

This has never happened to me before but for the past 2 or 3 days I have been waking up being very dizzy! I lose balance when walking to the living room and everything.
I am not on a diet. I eat plenty of food and I eat just like I always have. I thought "blood sugar is too low" but then I went back to the part that I eat exactly the same as I always did!
What's the deal here?

Why do I feel light headed and dizzy?

Hi, thanks for looking at my question. For the last 3-4 days i have been feeling really light headed and occasionally dizzy. Its normally better in the morning when i wake up and is completley gone for a few hours but by the afternoon it comes back to how it was the day before. I dont know if this has anything to do with it but in the last few days i have just got over a throat infection that i have had for about 2 months, they both coincided at the same time. The throat infection finished but then this started straight after, like on the same day. I also have a slightly swollen lymph gland under my armpit but that has gone down a bit the last couple of days. Also, yesterday i sat down for my meal and had a funny turn. I had a really weird rushing, cold(sorry cant explain it any better) feeling from my chest to my head but it went away after 30 secs or so. I feel occasionally nauseous but only once or twice a day for a short time. Thanks for any help.

Why do I feel dizzy or faint almost every morning when I wake up?

When you first wake up and sit up, your body is coming from a reclining position and the majority of your blood flow is parallel to the ground. Your body’s fluids are more toward the surface of the bed, as gravity’s held it there. The blood flow has been a bit more sluggish as it was slowed down in order to allow you to sleep. Now, you sit up, the blood rushes into the direction of gravity, which pulls it away from the brain. Brain gets a momentary loss of that blood where it was, plus gets a rush of freshly oxygenated blood, and WHOOP! Dizzy! It’s a normal thing that happens, and it’s only when it happens for way too long that you should be concerned. Talk to your doctor if you don’t believe, or research it on Web. MD.For some this can be just a little annoying when getting out of bed in the morning. Others (like me) can have their lives ruled and controlled by it.
