Is It Normal To Not Be Afraid Of Death

I'm not afraid of dying. Is this normal?

So many people are afraid of dying and are so upset by death. I'm not at all afraid to die. If I were to die right now, it would be fine. I'm not worried about the people around me when I die because I know they'll someday die too and it will all just be a little blip in time. I'm NOT suicidal--I do enjoy life, but I have no apprehensions about death. Is this weird? Is it a bad thing?

Are you afraid of death?

yep, because religions say differnet things about what happends to us. I say, only the dead know.

Is it normal to not be afraid to die?

(Speaking only from my own experience and folks I’ve known . . . .)Of course it’s normal not to be afraid to die, if you’re ten.Gets a little scarier at twenty and then scarier at 30.By the time you’re forty, you’re scared as hell.Fifty and you’re really worried, as this is the best time of your life!At sixty, something happens inside you. You begin to think, like, what’s to gain by living longer? You begin to get used to the idea of death. At seventy you’re all scarred up, tired of fighting, a little bored with sex — life doesn’t seem so great anymore. You think to yourself, “Who have I got to impress? Why do I need to have more than I have?”Possessions don’t turn you on anymore. At eighty you are ready to go.At ninety. you’re just hanging around, trimming your nails and shit. You look around and you’re just amused.

I'm not afraid of death. Is that normal?

Well, it's one thing to not fear death, another to be excessively risky, and another all together to want to kill yourself or think about ways in which to do so(I'm sure you know that, though).

As long as you don't take high risks (running red lights, jumping off cliffs, breaking into peoples' houses, doing drugs) because of your lack of fear of death, you don't have a problem. If your situation is simply that you don't spend much time worrying about it, then you're definitely fine. You might find that you have some other fear later on, or you might just be a very rational person who doesn't have trouble convincing themselves not to be afraid of things that don't need to be feared.

Edit in response to the questioner's edit:

Fearlessness can be linked to or synonymous with idiocy, in some cases. No one is going to realize or admit to what they are doing is idiotic, because if they realize it, they'll stop, and if they've stopped, they won't admit it because they aren't doing it any longer. Don't take unnecessary risks, on any level. If you must go skydiving or mountain climbing (plenty of people who are afraid of death do just that), do so with all the precautions. Don't drive without a seatbelt (most common unnecessary risk taken, I'd think).

Is it normal to not be scared of death?

If it's not normal then also absolutely not abnormal to not be scared of death. It is not even mandatory to be like others and you know that you are different from other people of your age, your acceptance on that is what makes you normal. As far as you don't have the zeal for life is concerned I would like to give you an advice whether or not to take it I will leave it on you.Humans have an average life span of 60 years around maybe.Around 25 years of our life is spent on pursuing education. Then u get busy in getting a job, then your only focus is making money for better life. And you get so focused on this that you forget living your life and you almost end up in your old-age when u realise it.Only then u get scared of death. You are just 20 years old and your second phase of life has been started. Only advice I would like to give u is that dont even think of death. Even forget how u want it ,let it come when the time comes.Trust me that thing will be a painless for you. Thinking about dying a painful a death won't assure you the same but definitely give you the long time pain before you die(just the thought of dying). Consider a moment that u are dead and have been given a chance to relive so think of the things that u will be wanting to do with your life.Make a list of all the things and then U my friend go for it.Live each and every second of your life by creating a memory.Spread happiness around through u.Have a nice & enthusiastic life!!

Not scared of death, is this normal?

People are only scared of death because, like the universe, like existence, and like time, they don't understand it. The human mind cannot comprehend nonexistence. Therefore, attempting to do so is frightening.

In my perhaps offensive opinion, belief in an "afterlife," including both heaven and hell, are coping mechanisms for people who are scared to accept that when they die, they may simply cease to exist and have no conscience. People want murderers and rapists and terrorists to "go to hell" because they think that somehow having these people suffer will justify everything they've done.

You, Mike, have freed yourself--if only temporarily--of the fear that plagues the majority of the population, without the use of said coping mechanisms.

Good day, sir.

Why are some people not afraid of death?

For me it is spiritual. I believe in reincarnation.

But many religious people are afraid of death, Christians for example, nearly all are afraid of death despite them believing they will go to Heaven.

Is it normal to have a huge fear of death?

I am in my late 20s, and I have been evaluating my life lately...and I've realized..I'm so afraid of death. Maybe it's the fear of the unknown. But the thought of just ceasing life...will keep me up all night! Help!!
