Is It Okay For Me To Lift Weights

Is it okay for a 14 year old girl to lift weights?

To the best I my knowledge it is ok for you to weight lift.

5 pounds is a good start but you are going to want to build up. Interesting bit of information you may like to know. Unless you take steroids or you have a rare gentic trait it is very difficult for you to look like man. Women tend to have a higher muscle density, this means that they can lift similar weights to men while still looking trimmer.

Please though don't take my word for it and ask women who actually body build.

Is a good free forum.

Exercise wise, ensure that you work as much on your core as you do all other parts of your body. A solid core ensures that everything else will work fine. I recommend running often, squats and while using your weights increase the amount you lift occasionally.

Please note when weight lifting muscle is denser than fat, so you may gain muscle but be actually losing (or maintaining the same amount) of fat and as such become healthier.

Is it ok to lift weights the day before a football game?

Weight lifting at 16? Is it ok?

Ok so im a 15 year old male now and im turning 16 in just under a month and i currently do muay thai kickboxing 3 times a week and the training sessions are 3 hours long but we only really work with body weight and small weights and i was wondering if its ok for me to start lifting larger weights to increase my muscles because im a bit skinny now but not as in no muscle or fat skinny, just no fat skinny. Ive heard alot of people saying that weight lifting in your teens is bad because it can stunt your growth but ive also heard that it doesnt so does it stunt your growth? All the people that have said that it does/doesnt stunt your growth arnt doctors or personal trainers or anything like that but they were just parents and friends. Please help because i really want to increase my muscles but i dont want to risk my health.

Im going to ask a personal trainer that i know soon before i do start doing any weight lifting but i just wanted to know now

Should i lift weights the day before a track meet?

Absolutely not.
If you run after lifting, you will not perform at your best.
Lifting weights breaks down muscle fibers, and the rest that follows will make your muscles stronger....this process can take several days.
Lifting weights will affect the speed at which you will be able to run and will diminish your endurance until your muscles fully recover.

Is it okay for a ten year old to start lifting weights?

i started when i was 11 and have seen nothing but good results, anyone that says it stunts growth is wrong, it has been proved to be wrong multiple times, if you are a parent concerned for your child, i can reassure you that my parents worried about me as well, but they now realize that it only affects me positively, and i think that it would be great for your son/daughter to start lifting weights, the younger they start the more advantage they will have on other children that don't lift weights until they are in they're late teen's,  i have found it to be very effective in boosting my confidence and reducing my anxiety levels, please make sure to start your child off with an easy enough weight that they can do at least 15 reps before failure, focus on form and perfecting lifts to prevent injury in the futureNow after starting to lift weights i found out about supplements, i would that your child uses any supplements until they are older, the only supplements i can think of that would benefit them are protein, bcaa's, and creatine, these have been proven to be safe supplements and are also natural, we consume these things in the food we eat as wellGood luck!

I'm 16 years old, is it safe for me to lift weights?

If you can postpone your weight lifting programme for an year or two, please do so.However, if you are keen to embark on resistance training programme immediately, i’d advice you to train with light weights for 6 months, learn how to properly execute an exercise and also practice strict form while performing it..

Is it OK to lift weights without gloves?

Not only no, but fuck no.See, when I was lifting, I would do Bicep Hammer Curls. They target the bicep muscle better than the standard dumb-bell curl, and they did grow my biceps greatly. I also had the ability to lift more weight doing them, up to 50 pounds for 3 or 4 reps. Here’s what a hammer curl looks like:Photo Attribution: Burn the Fat Inner CircleNotice where his hands are? Well guess what, they chafe against the weight. Do you want to know what happens?See what I highlighted in red? You will peel your skin right the hell off. It will be so bad that you will be unable to do hammer curls anymore with that hand. It usually only took me 3 sessions of Hammer curls without gloves for my skin to peel off.So I would either use lifting gloves or winter gloves to lift. Winter gloves (the thin kind) in case I couldn’t find my lifting gloves.

My parents won't let me lift weights?

I'm 15 years old (girl) and for the past couple of months I've been trying to lose weight.

I started eating healthy and exercising everyday (jumping rope for an hour) and I used to weigh about 133lbs and now I weigh 125lbs so I'v lost about 8lbs.

I'm 5'3 so 125lbs is a healthy weight....but I just want to lose about 5 - 10 more lbs so I get rid of the little belly and thigh fat that I have...but I also want to tone up a bit so I ordered some dumbbells (3kg, 4kg and 5kg) with my birthday money, without telling my parents and when the delivery came, and they opened it, they started telling me off and gave me a big lecture about how girls are not supposed to lift weights and muscles on girls look so ugly and stuff...but I DON'T WANT TO BUILD MUSCLE, I just want to increase muscle strength and tone up a bit...and they just don't understand!

They think if I start lifting weights (just twice a week), I will get huge muscles or something....but obviously, it's not that easy to make muscle (if it was, wouldn't every guy out there have a six pack and huge biceps).

But they think it's unhealthy and unsafe for me....but I told them it's only like 3kg and I will be careful but they keep telling me weight lifting is not for girls...but what's the point of losing weight and just being skinny, I don't want to look skinny and unhealthy, I want to look physically fit and be toned!

Any advice? What can I tell them to convince them that it's okay for girls to lift light weights?

Is it bad to work out (lift weights) when your sick?

When you're sick you should be resting. Your body has enough healing to do without lifting weights.
