Is It Okay Not Have Facebook During College

Is it okay to send a Facebook friend request to a girl in college that I like if we have not talked before?

From my ethical viewpoint - yes, it’s OK.In real world - the person could not just delete the request but also report your entire account to Facebook and cause your account to be lost, making a physical trauma for you. Why? Because so are the conventions chosen by those who rule the world.

Is it ok to send messages to your college girls who is your Facebook friend but never meet personally?

Sending message is not a big issue.you are not doing any mistake but what message you are sending that matters.message her/him in polite way don't ask her/him personals directly.first offer your friendship then if he/she replies good then procced.

My new roommate in college doesn't have a facebook.. should I be concerned?

I understand how people are coming off as a bit rude here, but I completely understand how you feel. I just got my roommate assignment today and I've got the same problem. Obviously I know that they're still human even without a Facebook, it just seems strange to me that something myself and a huge majority of people enjoy, apparently isn't enjoyed by someone I'll be living with for a year, which is how I imagine you feel. It's kind of strange and unnerving. Mine came with an email address though, was their any other contact information given about her. If not, maybe you can contact the residence coordinator and find out. Good luck!

Add where you go to college on Facebook?

Once you add a school, the form will change. You'll be able to enter a start date, a graduation date if you ddi grduate, and there will be a checkbox for 'currently enrolled' to show you're still going to that school.

Can colleges see my deactivated facebook account?

I'm applying right now and it would be best if they don't see my account. I don't have any "bad" pictures, but I look silly in some of my pictures and I don't want them stalking my wall-to-wall convos.

I know redoing security settings isn't enough- they have geniuses to hack in. So i deactivated mine. Would this mean that i'm completely safe from college looking at my account? the name and email is changed from my real ones.

This girl in college made her phone number public on her Facebook profile. Does this mean she is okay to receive calls from guys (even strangers)?

This girl in college made her phone number public on her Facebook profile. Does this mean she is okay to receive calls from guys (even strangers)?Last century, we used to have a thing called a phone book or telephone directory. This was a big paperback book, widely available (every household had one, and there were public phone booths all over the place that had them), and it had people’s telephone numbers in it, sorted alphabetically by name:Most people’s phone numbers were public knowledge. At the time, there was also a whole ritual within the dating dance dedicated to asking someone for their phone number[1] so you could call them and perhaps ask them out on a date. This ritual was chiefly about negotiating consent. Not to ask a person for their phone number, but research them in the public phone book and call them was considered a last resort in an emergency, because it meant skipping a step in the consent negotiation dance, and overriding a boundary of sorts, this being done without prior consent from the person being called.Cold-calling someone could come off as annoying, or it could come off as desperate, or it could come off as weird, or it could come off as downright creepy. And while people by and large tend to keep their phone numbers much more private this century, there are still cultural expectations around not calling people if they haven’t consented to it by giving you their phone number.Giving someone specific her phone number would mean she is OK if they, specifically, called her.Besides phone number etiquette and ritual, there’s also another aspect you may want to consider:What makes you so sure that it was her that made that number public? There’s a possibility she may have been hacked. There’s also a possibility she isn’t even aware of her privacy settings showing her phone number publicly.TL;DR:If you want to call her, ask her for her phone number so she can make an informed decision about it.Best wishesFootnotes[1] How to Get a Girl's Phone Number

How do I get an internship at Google or Facebook in India during my second year of college?

It's not a very good idea to start internship in the very beginning of second year. I suggest you learn core skills first through various MOOCs and work on open source projects, so the you can showcase them in your resume which will increase you chance of getting hired. However in the later half you can try doing internships like eklavya internship here at IITB to get hands on experience in industry projects. Then in third year you can go ahead and apply for top notch companies, since you have experience and the knowledge it will be much easier for you to get hired.
