Is It Possbile To Insert An External Drive That Connect To Your Computer Using Usb Cable While The

I have an external hard drive but when i plug it in my computer wont recognize it.?

I have a Western Digital external hard drive the model number is, WD50001032-001. My computer is an HP DV5 laptop. When i connect the hard drive to the power supply & into the computer with the USB cable it wont self install onto my computer i've tried to go into control panel & do the "add a device" but it say's that it cannot find any devices. I bought this hard drive off of someone who was supposed to put a bunch of movies, music, ect, but now i cant get it to work or do anything but power on. HELP

Is it possible to add external processors and/or RAM to a computer through the USB port?

The Intel Compute Stick is an entire computer by itself. You can't add an external processor through USB because even though some computer have multiple processors, USB isn't fast enough to allow an external processor to work with an internal one.It is actually possible to take something like a USB drive and configure it to work as a page file (also known as swap space), which will cause the computer to cache memory there when it runs out of RAM, but it will again be far slower than normal RAM.

Can I keep my Cavalry external hard drive from malfunctioning?

Don't find your model (300 GB) but here's the Calvery site showing something similar with 500 GB capacity:

I suspect your problem is the USB power being insufficient for the drive. This may not be the case if you try another computer or another USB port.

My external 360 GB (by HP) at times requires power from another USB port in addition to the one it's connected to - though if a port once delivers the power it needs, it always does. My external drive has a blue LED that comes on when power is sufficient, and if it doesn't, I connect to a second USB port with the supplied "2-USB" cable (the red one is usually not needed). I've even used a USB port on another computer so I could access a large database (RoadNav maps of the entire USA) using a OLPC XO-1 (a 2-watt max laptop viewable in full sunlight and distributed to 3rd-world children).

Those USB Y-cables for the dual-power connection are sold at Radio Shack, WalMart, Best Buy, etc, for under $5. Make sure it matches your hard drive's connector.

Good luck!

Not able to transfer Video from Panasonic PV-GS90P to computer.Tried connecting with mini-DV to USB cable.?

That is because USB and IEEE1394 are different communications protocols. When importing DV-format video from a miniDV tape based camcorders, you need to use a firewire cable to connect the camcorder's DV port to the computer's firewire port. USB-to-firewire cable/converter/adapter/hub things do not work. The camcorder and your computer are behaving properly.

Since you did not tell us which computer you are using, we have no way to know if it has an expansion slot to add a firewire port. If there is no expansion slot, then you have three options:

1) Use a computer that does have a working firewire port and import the video to an external drive using the same video editor or importing application to get the video on the external drive. When the importing is complete, dismount and disconnect the drive from the computer with the firewire port and connect the drive to your computer (without the firewire port). Edit away...

2) Connect the camcorder to a "Direct to DVD" device. When the disc is done, you will rip the video from the DVD by using a DVD ripper and the DVD drive associated with your computer. HandBrake
http://handbrake.fr/
is one of many available rippers. Video quality will be substantially reduced because of the steps through the VOB compression and ripping to decompress.

3) Connect the AV cables that came with the camcorder to a "analog digital converter" like those low-end units from Pinnacle (Dazzle) or Roxio that use USB for connectivity to a computer. Video quality will be substantially reduced because of the step through analog video (through the A/D converter).

What is an external hard drive?

I understand that it is something that holds more memory for your computer, but where do you put it?
Is it something you hook up to your computer, or is it something that you insert into your computer, and take it out when you don't need it anymore?
I just learned about this today, so i barely know anything about this!

Also...
I have a macbook, and i was wondering what kind of external hard drive would work really well for that?
Please add any information that I might need to know so that i'm not as clueless about this as i am now.
Thanks in advance!

How do I connect a PenDrive to a mobile phone?

A simple OTG (ie. On The Go) will work. Most of the devices worked with OTG while most of them not.Use ES File Explorer I think that is much more efficient while working with the OTG. Actually working with it is so easy.images referenced from : shopclue.com

What would happen if I insert 1TB external hard disk via OTG in a smart phone?

First, it will probably not spin up since the tablet will not provide enough current. You will need to attach the drive via a powered hub or use a drive with an external power supply.  Some portable drives will support attaching a 5V 2A power supply.Once connected in a way that provides sufficient power to the drive, it will be mounted at a place that varies by the phone OS.  In Android, you should see the phone at Settings -> Storage.

Why does my smartphone show my portable hard drive to be corrupt when connected via OTG, but my PC doesn't?

Scan your portable hard drive,it could be from virus
