Is it possible to change my B.Tech college in the second year?

Yes, you can change your college in second year but you cant do it in the national level colleges like NIT's, IIT's or the other deemed universities. In local colleges you have the choice to change your college after securing fair percentage of marks. You need to apply to both the colleges for the change of your college to the respective college. They have to approve it and transfer your records from present college to the other. All you need to do is to secure good percentage of marks. Please remember this process wont be applicable for all the colleges across India. It is possible if both the colleges are under same university and the same state.Good Luck.

I am a student of B. Tech 1st year NMIMS. Is it possible to change my college in second year to a Mumbai University college?

No. As NMIMS is a deemed university you won't be able to get admission in second year directly. But you if you want to then you’ll have to take admission in first year again through cap rounds or institute level rounds. The criteria is to pass CET or JEE.But think twice before taking decision. As you are not getting refund of the fees you've paid, and you'll have to pay more for the years you are going to spend in mumbai university college. And according to my experience the MU courses are not good to develop professional skills. They are just bunch of redundant knowledge pots which are not applicable nowadays.

Can I change my college after first year of engineering ?

Yeah you absolutely can change your branch or college after first year. I’ll explain both below:BRANCHIn many engineering colleges the syllabus of all the branches in first year is approximately same. They do it so that student can have a overview of all branches and if they find that the branch they took is not their cup of tea, students can change it after the first year. There are some factors on which you will be shifted. First of them is availability of seats. If there is a seat available in the branch that you seek then there is a chance that you will be admitted to that branch. Second factor is your percentage, some colleges are having minimum percentage requirements if you want to change your stream if you are fulfilling it then you can easily change your stream.COLLEGEStudent can also change their college after first year but they can only go to a college which is under the same university as their present college. Then you only have to take migration certificate any you can move. If you want to go to a college which is under another university then there are many problems which you will be facing firstly you have to take NOC and migration certificate from university that you are studying in. After that when you go to new college they will cross check the subjects that you studied in your previous college if there is any subject(of first year in your new college) that you haven’t studied in you previous college then they will show your backlog in that subject and you have to clear those subjects. Moreover some colleges also will ask you to pay money for the first year if you want to take admission in second year.

In college can you change your classes whenever you want?

Not whenever you want, but only up to a few weeks into the semester, less in a quarter system.
There are different drop dates. Most schools allow up to a couple weeks into the term to allow you to drop or add classes without any penalty.

After that first drop date deadline, there should be a second deadline that will still let you withdraw from a class, but it will appear as a "W" on your transcript that you withdrew from the class and you don't get any refund from the class.
