I actually contacted Audible to find out the answer to this question and they politely informed me that they had the best customer experience in mind when deciding this! I simply want an MP3 CD to stick in my car (my iPhone is out of space and I don't want to take it out of my pocket and plug it in every time I enter the car anyway). The following quotes are directly from the customer service rep that responded to my complaint:Apparently Audible files "do not come in and cannot be converted into MP3 or any other formats. The measures taken by Audible are required to protect both the intellectual property rights of our Content Providers as well as the Authors." Because I care.
