Choose the side that you don't sleep on at all or most of the time.
For example for me, I chose my left ear because I mostly sleep on my right. :)

Which side should I get my cartilage pierced?

I've wanted a cartilage piercing for so long, so I finally did research on it. So apparently the left ear means you're straight and the right ear means you're gay..? That hadn't crossed my mind at all! So my left or someone else's left? I'm very straight.

Should I get my cartilage pierced if my ear is swollen from earlier and newer helix piercings? I already paid for the 3rd helix when I got the other two. I couldn’t get the 3rd a few days ago b/c I had a mini seizure and almost passed out twice.

Ren C, are you OK?I’m so sorry to hear that you had a mini seizure & almost passed out.You need to go straight to the hospital as you have an ear infection. This is what caused your problems. You don't say how long ago, this happened.Your doctor will give you antibiotics for the infection.Take the antibiotics every day, it’s important that you don’t skip a dose, until you’ve finished them.Antibiotics have an unfair reputation, when some people give up taking them, after 2/3 days, whilst the infection is still raging inside of their bodies. Of course, you feel better after taking antibiotics for 2/3 days, & therein lies the rub, you must take the full course. If you don’t, it will make any antibiotics you may take for any future infections, useless. Some years ago, I had a really bad cold that I couldn’t shake. I tried ginger, lemon, even bought a well known cold remedy, nothing worked. My nose was blocked. My balance was off. I couldn’t walk straight. I couldn't look at bright lights, as it hurt my eyes to do that. I suspected, Meningitis.I had a middle ear infection, called Otitis Media. My ear drum burst. I actually felt & heard it pop, when I lay down, to sleep.I went to the hospital, because of my Meningitis fear. Another thing that I should mention. I did the Meningitis test, because my fears kept me awake at night. I put a clear glass over my skin, & there was no sign of a red rash. So I knew that I was OK. At the hospital, the doctor looked inside of my ear, told me what I'm telling you. After my examination, the doctor gave me antibiotics. I took them religiously, & my infection cleared up.The ear, nose & throat are all connected through the Eustachian tube which passes from behind the ear drum to the nasal passage. This leads to the Nasopharynx, a nasal cavity, which in turn leads to the digestive tract.Once an infection starts to attack your digestive system, you’re at risk of death.Infections in the body, can quickly turn into septic shock. Where the body breaks down & starts to attack itself.Ren C, you could die from septic shock. This is serious.I can’t stress enough. However long, the length of time your doctor gives you antibiotics for, take them.Don’t do anymore piercings, until the infection has cleared up, & you’ve had a thorough check up with your doctor, & been given the all clear, even then, proceed with caution.Hope you feel better soon.

Showering after a cartilage piercing?

So, I just got my cartilage pierced and i wanna shower but i'm scared about my hair getting caught in it or it hurting from my hair products. The place i got it done made me get a hoop earring because its better for healing and cleaning, so I understand that but i'm worried my hair will get stuck in it. And will it really hurt if I get some shampoo on it? I'm nervous but I kind of gotta shower...

How do I convince my parents to let me get my cartilage pierced?

There is a question very similar in concept to this one that I answered a few days ago. I feel that it would pertain to this situation as well.Kendra Vogel's answer to My daughter wants a triple earlobe piercing, but I think that's trashy. How do I convince her?I'm not sure if the questions should be merged because it is a different question. Look through the other answers on the linked question; some of them bring up good points about why “trashy” isn't a valid argument to not get piercings.I would suggest pointing out how cartilage piercings are very low risk piercings; they may require extra care but don't need surgery to remove and typically don't cause extensive scarring (like many other piercings out there). Also, you can remove it if you need/want to. There will be a little dot left over from healing, but oftentimes you don't even notice it after it closes up. But remember that after a piercing heals there's scar tissue left in the place. Repiercing it hurts and can take longer to heal than the original one.If you come to a last resort, promise it's the last one you're going to beg them for. I did this for my 3rd lobe piercing on my left ear (I had 3 lobe and 1 cartilage on my right ear and 2 lobe on my left. I wanted to even it out). She made me promise that I was done with my ears being pierced, which I am. She probably thought it looked trashy but didn't say that to me. Getting a harmless piercing wasn't a huge deal, so she decided to compromise and therefore get me off her back about it.You could also make a list of “rules” like I mentioned. That way they know that you will do your best to take good care of it. And get a stud piercing, not a hoop. Plain, silver stud piercings are much “classier” looking to most people, including your parents. Make them see the good, and explain how the bad could be good for them (i.e. If it gets seriously infected you will take it out).Good luck!

5 good reasons why i should get my cartilage pierced?

You have a smart and caring dad. There are no good reasons to get your cartilige pierced. And by the time you get to college, and you do have a piercing, you just wont be taken seriuosly. How many teachers, dentists, pharmacists, engineers, doctors, accountants, or any high career people have you seen with their cartilige pierced. NONE. Im not saying its right, but we live in a world where we ARE judged by our appearance. And a cartilige piercing isnt something that is respectable.

Its ugly anyways
Dont do it
I dont know you but im only writing this for your sake

O and its doesnt show individuality, it just shows that you are trying to hard
