Is It Safe For Me To Tan As Long As I Don

Would it be safe for me to tan for 7 minutes?

I just started going to the tanning salon 4 days ago. My skin is pretty pale. I wouldn't consider myself pasty, but I'm definitely not tan. I always wear sunscreen when I go outside, so I don't really burn, but I don't really tan either. The first time I tanned was for 5 minutes, then 2 days later I went back and tanned for another 5 minutes. I can tell that my skin has gotten darker, but compared to most people, I still don't look tan. I'm planning on going for a third time and I was wondering if it would be safe for me to tan for 7 minutes this time or is that still too much since I'm new and have a lighter complexion? I use the lay-down tanning beds and Sweet & Sexy bronzer.

How long are you supposed to tan?

I just bought a bottle of dark tanning lotion. How long is it safe to tan and still get results? My mom has told me that I'm only supposed to go for 15 min., but it doesn't seem to help any. I would like to go to a tanning bed but I've heard that they aren't safe and even if they were safe, I don't have enough money.

How can a pale person get tan? (safely)?

Do not use oil, it ages your skin. Use a good lotion, it doesn't have to be specifically for tanning but there are good cheap ones at your local drugstore.

There is no SAFE way to tan, but if you want to lay out in the sun at home, the first time you need to be really careful. Try 15 minutes on your stomach, and 15 minutes on your back. If you don't burn, do 20 minutes the next day and so on. The safest thing to do is make sure you don't burn.

How long should I tan each day?

Depends on your skin type — For tanning the people who run the tanning beds that I go to assess your skin type and tell you a time limit. My skin is level 2 (I don’t have much melanin) and I can only go for 10 minutes at the most and that is with having my Vitamin D at a good level.Otherwise they would likely start me at 4 or 5 minutes. So if you have a good level of Vitamin D (you can usually get a good daily dose in 20 minutes if you go out between 10 am and 2 pm and if the UVB rays reach the earth’s surface where you are — there are charts on line) you can stay a bit longer.Staying out too long can cause burning — if your skin starts to turn a little pink even in fewer minutes, it is time to go in or time to put on the sunscreen which should be applied regularly (20 minutes to 1/2 hourly) if you are staying out longer).

How long does it take for a natural tan to take hold after tanning in the sun?

The length of time it takes for a sun tan to take hold depends a great deal on the skin tone of the person and a number of other physiological factors, as well as the intensity and degree of sun exposure and the use of sunblock and skin lotions.A tan will usually not appear while you are at the beach or outdoors in the sun. Depending on the amount of sun exposure, the process will take one of two courses of action. If you get enough sun to tan, but not to burn, then, while in the sun, the skin will change little, or perhaps be a bit red, but not hot or itchy. This will turn to a tan a short while later as the body adds melanin to the skin in response to sun exposure. If you get more sun, you will get sunburn. A practical way to distinguish simple redness from sunburn is to take a hot shower within 2 hours after coming indoors. If it doesn’t burn, you don’t have sunburn. If it does burn, you do.If you have sunburn, the skin has to go through a more complex process. The melatonin will increase. At the same time, the skin will heal the burn. In a mild burn on healthy skin, the redness simply goes away. If the burn is more severe, or if the skin or the metabolism are less strong and in balance, then peeling and other symptoms of skin burn must resolve before the tan clearly appears. I’m not discussing more severe second and third degree burns here. Some people will show a tan in as little as two hours after being in the sun. Others will likely show the tan the next morning. Burn recovery usually takes a few hours, or, likely, overnight, or even up to three days, in my experience.

How long should I wait to go tanning again?

If its the first ime you have been tanning you should wait 3 - 4 days. If not then tomorrow is fine.

Do you like guys with long hair or short hair? a tan or no tan? and does having big muscles really matter?

I like a guy with a little bit longer hair, but that's just the fad of the new millenium. And then again, some guys look really hot with a crew cut, but yeah I think it's safe to say long hair. And no tan, please, that's just weird. I don't like big muscles to the point that you look like a beefy monster. I'd prefer just fit, thank you!

Why don't I tan? Why is my skin like this?

You must be either, not staying in the sun long enough, or you are using to high of an SPF sunscreen. You also do have to take in, that you're not going to get tan right away, and you have to constantly be out in the sun to gain a tan. I would recommend 15 - 30 SPF, as long as you reapply it often and be sure to check if you're not burning. If not becoming tan is very much a problem i would invest in a spray tan or a UV bed at a professional tanning studio.

How long should I wait after burning to tan again?

I tan on a regular basis. I have very fair skin so I know a lot about burning. When I first went tanning, I burned. I waited about a week, so the burn could heal, and then went again. But I cut back the amount of time I was in. I didn't burn after that.

After you build up a base tan, you don't have to worry so much about it. Occasionally I come out looking a little pink, but that's to be expected.

Another good way to prevent burning and promote tanning is to use a high quality indoor tanning lotion. A big bottle costs about $20 and lasts me about 2 months, with regular tanning. It doesn't take a lot.

Coming from a fair skinned girl who's dealt with your problem, I hope this helps!

Tanning after a c-section?

i am having a scheduled c-section coming up and really need to tan for summer after. i am wondering how long after i should wait to tan?

i know that tanning is bad for my skin, and i don't care, so don't tell me about it.
and i don't need answers that consist of, " i am suprised you have time to tan with a newborn" i have a husband that is actually worth something and will gladly watch the baby so i can take 20 mins out of my day to tan.
(sorry if those 2 points sound rude, i looked up previous answers to the same question that someone else asked and the answers posted were just lectures on the dangers of tanning and smart remarks about not having time to tan)
