Is It Safe To Drink After Taking 4 Mg Of Valium

How safe it is to drive after taking Valium?

Until you know how Benzodiazepam (Valium) affects you it is not safe to operate machinery after taking it. And this is goes for most of the Benzodiazepines, (be wary of the ones that can have a hypnotic affect, such as Clonazepam.) Once you understand its affect on you and as long as you are taking a dosage you are used to taking. It can be perfectly safe assuming you aren't already feeling tired when you take it. But it is up to you to know if you are good to drive or not. If you are unsure than you are most likely not good to drive. It is kind of silly to just say it is unsafe. If that were true people driving at the end of a long day who are feeling a bit tired would all be unsafe. But that is not necessarily true at all. Ignore people claiming it is unsafe without them explaining why, other than to say it's a drug, drugs are bad mm’kay. It's about being able to stay alert and maintain focus. That's why you can drink some alcohol and still be safe and legal to drive. One thing to consider is that if you take a Valium while feeling tired or on the influence of another drug or alcohol. You will be affected greater than usual. Alcohol and Valium mixed can be particularly potent and debilitating.Valium is much less debilitating than alcohol, Valium will also wear off faster. If you have anxiety caused from driving, Valium can help you to stay calm and possibly drive better than without it. This is recognized by people in the medical community. And it is not illegal in most of the world to have Valium in your system as long as you are “sober”.If you are being prescribed Valium than talk to your doctor if you are still concerned. They should say things similar to what I am saying here.If you are buying V’s “illegally” be wary of the consistency. Sometimes a pill may be more or less potent than is expected. Make sure you feel the full effect of the pill before deciding if you are good to go. And don't let anyone pressure you into driving if you don't feel comfortable.

How many days after taking Valium can you safely drink?

Unfortunately, no physician will ever tell you it is safe to drink while taking Valium.

The main problem is that valium not only has an excessively long duration of action, but it is broken down into metabolite that are also active, also long lasting, and last for different durations.

The upshot of all this is that time you have significant active medication in your system is completely unpredictable. There is no predictable "half-life" as such, since only medications that are metabolized in one stage have half-lives. 6-12 days is just a general statement looking at test subjects--it is not based on any known, consistent chemical feature of the medication.

Therefore, there is NO medical basis for telling you when it is "safe" to drink after taking valium, and you do so with the knowledge that any consequences are completely in your hand.

In general, if I ever recommend valium to someone, I also include two additional recommendations in addition to any others:

- do not drink within 4 weeks of taking the medication for the above reasons.

- do not operate a motor vehicle within 4 weeks of taking the medication for the above reasons. Also, since a DUI is a DUI regardless of whether the medication is prescribed or not, and it is much easier to detect with a drug test than alcohol, it is simply not worth the risk.

As always, discuss these and any questions with your physician.

How safe is 20 mg of Valium?

Very very safe, but don’t drink on it. A beer or two is fine, but it might make you start losing control which could lead to a blackout night. Beware, but by themseves, thats fine. 10mg of diazepam which is the real chemical term for valium, is not strong. It is equal to a mere .5mg of xanax. For comparison, a “xanax bar” is 2mg alprazolam (xanax). That would equal 30 40mg of Diazepam

Is it safe to have 1-2 drinks several hours after taking 10mg valium?

Depends on the person and the situation. For example, are you a regular consumer of alcohol or valium. If you are home with someone you trust and usually have 10 mg of valium it could be safe. BUT the risk is that you fall asleep and your breathing becomes so depressed by the combination of alcohol and valium that you don’t breathe and then you die. I don’t think that it is a wise choice and would say that it is NOT safe and would recommend NOT taking this combination.

Is it safe to take valium with benadryl?

It depends on if you are use to the drugs or not. Valium 10 mg is a higher dose than usual but many people have gotten use to it over time.It normally is given to calm a person or sedate them. Benadryl (diphenhydramine over the counter) can be in either 25 or 50 mg strength which will be listed on the box. Both of these drugs can cause drowsiness. Benadryl can be used for allergies, or also sedation (mild sleeping pill) as well as an antihistamine.Since both can have an additive effect use caution when you combine them & try one at a time first to see if they do sedate you. If they don't you can always start with the Valium & 25 mg of the Benadryl & see how you do. Just be careful though for they can depress breathing when used in combination.

2.5mg of valium 24 hours ago. Safe to drink alcohol?

A gp prescribed 5mg tablets of valium for panic attacks. I took half a 5mg tablet (so 2.5mg) about 24 hours ago. It was the first time I have ever had valium, it didn't work for my anxiety and I won't bother taking it again. I've just had 2 beers and may have 2 more tonight.
It is a small dose and it has been 24 hours since I took it, however I heard it can last in your system for a long time. I haven't felt the effects of it since late last night
So is it safe to drink alcohol? I'm not going to get smashed or anything.

Why is drinking a few beers bad when you take Valium 10 mg once at night?

Alcohol enhances the effects of Valium but if you have one beer at noon and a valium at 10 PM before going to bed there probably won't be any serious side affects. If you take the valium and then drink a beer right afterwards it would be like taking two valiums. One night I took two valiums and went out to a bar and had 6 screwdrivers and got so smashed the barmaid cut me off. The half life of valium is 6 to 8 hrs so after 6- 8 hrs you will still have about half of the dose in your blood. If you sleep 8 hrs then half of the dose will be gone when you wake up. By noon next day about 1/4 of the dose will be left. There is no half life of alcohol in the body and it's eliminated at a different rate for each individual. A lot depends on your body mass/weight and how well you can handle alcohol. However, I couldn't in good conscience advise you to drink 5 beers between noon and 2 PM and then take another valium at 10 PM.

How long after taking diazepam can I drink alcohol?

I take diazapam, which is generic for Valium. What I don't understand is why your taking anxiety meds for neck pain.... Thats a little odd.
But in all honesty if your legally old enough to drink you can drink it with it, but it messes up the effectiveness of the drug. It is not safe, though after about 4 hours the meds are already working their way out, so I would say w/in 4 hours it is safe to have *A* beer. If your planning on getting wasted then your chances of suffering from Alcohol poisoning are greater, if you have taken it w/in the day. The key word I suppose is moderation. No one wants to go to the ER and experience what happens when you OD on alcohol and pills. If your script is over and you haven't taken any pills you are fine, just don't take them and drink a few shots, you will end up very close to alcohol poisoning. You will wish you hadn't had that extra beer/shot when they pump your guts and try to save you, not a good mix.

When is it safe to take 4 Valium pills before going to the gym a day after drinking?

When is it safe to take 4 Valium pills before going to the gym a day after drinking? You know, it is not really “safe” to take four Valium pills unless your physician has prescribed this medication to you to be taken that way. You should not use medication the way you want to because there can be dire effects.I have friends who think it is ok to 3–4 allergy pills at a time or a handful of ibuprofen. These medications are recommended to be taken at intervals for a reason and taking them off schedule could be harmful to your liver. Even Tylenol can kill you if you take too many, medications are no joke. You didn’t say the dosage of the Valium and that makes a big difference. If it is a 1mg tablet then taking 4 will give you 4mg total which is not a crazy high dosage, BUT if it is a 5mg tablet, then you are taking 20mg and that may not be a safe dosage for you. For my migraines, I take 0.5mg of Valium and it knocks me out. When in doubt, don’t ask Quora, ask your physician.
