Is It Too Late For Harvard

Can I get into Harvard with a 2.7 GPA?

Anything is possible, your resume might be incredibly impressive and your personal statements/essays might be amazing.

But just for comparison, my undergrad GPA was a 3.5, I had research experience, and I was VP of a co-ed honor fraternity and I didn't get into Dartmouth for grad school. If we are talking about the high school to college transition here. I was valedictorian of my class, and worked all through high school and got rejected by Davidson. Oopsies.

Good luck!

Can I get accepted into Harvard?

I won't say if you will get accepted or not because I simply do not know. It truly is about luck after a certain point. Your ACT/SAT score makes you on par with the other candidates that the college is considering. However, that leaves many more thousands of people you must compete with. Honestly, do not worry about that C in an AP class or that B in 9th grade. While it is true that they could easily admit a straight-A student over you, they also take into account an upward trend. I had quite a plenty of B's freshman and soph. year and was still accepted into an Ivy League school! Hope that gives you a little hope :) However, I hope you are right about having good EC. Everyone has great grades/sat scores...its truly the essays and ECs that make a person stand out, no doubt about that! Its great that you were in piano 13 years... shows commitment. But I would like to add that from your brief description, I am sensing that all you did was academics (plenty of honor societies listed!), who are you as a person? What do you truly love learning...science? spanish? Don't get me wrong because its great that you are participating, but its starting to feel like resume padding with 7 clubs! I only joined one club and dedicated A LOT of time into it and geared my whole application towards that. So, while we may all 'game the system', don't do so to the extent where it harms your chances...no one likes a person that joins every club just to get into the top colleges. In fact, I technically joined more clubs but didn't include them in my app because I just went to hang out with my friends and it wasn't really indicative of who I was. Also, it may be too late, but hopefully you held leadership positions in these clubs. Hope that helps!

Am I too late to get into Harvard or Stanford at 26?

A simple Google search and I found this :)It's never late to pursue what you always wanted to do.

Is it late to apply to Harvard right now (Nov. 18)?

No; you’re nowhere near the deadline, and most files will be read after winter break. However, if you haven’t started planning your essays, completing the application, finding you recommenders, assembling lists of activities and awards, then you are cutting it awfully close for having a good application by deadline .

Harvard alumni only: I want to attend Harvard. I am 40 years old. Is it possible?

As an Ivy League student myself, I doubt very much that you will get into Harvard with your history. You are hard-working, no doubt, but Harvard only accepts what it deems to be "exceptional" students; "over 1000" on your SAT would not mean much to them. I would certainly try my chances at a state school if I were you (you would not get accepted to Dartmouth either--it is also an Ivy League school, which holds itself to the same standards as Harvard), and then try to get into a graduate school at Harvard if you earn straight As there. Good luck. You have accomplished so much already.

Why didn't my son go to Harvard?

So my son graduated high school last June with a 4.67 GPA which was good enough for class valedictorian. He was already accepted into Harvard, Yale, University of Michigan, and Duke. He decided to go into engineering, specifically Aerospace Engineering. I always told him to go to Harvard because it would like great on his resume and it is one of the best universities in the world. During fall of his senior year I was shocked he told me he was going to the University of Michigan because I guess they have the best engineering program out of the four schools. I kept telling him he should go to Harvard because he has the grades and he has enough scholarship money to make it affordable, but he seemed committed to the University of Michigan. I was thinking there is no way my son is going to a half baked public university over an elite Ivy league school, but Michigan was a lock for him. So now I am trying to convince him to transfer to Harvard but has told me that he likes Michigan, just not for their academics but their athletic and social life as well. I want to be happy for him but I am also disappointed that he is not going to Harvard. So are there any tips that I can convince my son to transfer to Harvard?

Is it too late to prepare for applying to MPA in Harvard Kennedy School at 33 years old?

No.There are two main masters programs at the Kennedy School. One, the MPP, is a two-year program and is designed for people early in their professional lives to develop the research and policy analysis skills necessary for a career in the public section. The second, the MPA, is a one-year mid-career program that, in all honesty, is a good bit of network building with courses to “familiarize” yourself with issues in the public policy arena with an eye to supervising those functions rather than becoming an expert in them.In my opinion, you are still young enough to benefit from either, and there should be no barrier to your application. Just be sure you know which one is more appropriate for your interests and future plans.

My dumb parents won't let me to go into Harvard?

"I know Harvard is expensive so I want to go to there." So the reason you want to attend Harvard is because it's expensive? Anyway, talk to your parents. See if they are willing to let you apply to Harvard. If you are accepted, you can figure out what to do at that point. You can make a compromise by applying to Harvard, as well as some less competitive, less expensive schools.

Also, tuition is NOT $14,000 at Harvard. I have no idea where the other poster got their information from. According to Harvard's website, the cost of tuition for the 2010-2011 school year is $34,976. This doesn't include room and board.

What should I do to prepare my application for a Harvard (or Ivy schools) scholarship? I'm an international eighth-grade student and I'm so disorientated, is it too late or too early to start.

It’ll be a great advantage if you start practicing SAT in Khan Academy right from now and during your high school year you can sit for the SAT exam. Also prepare for two SAT subject tests if you want to get into an Ivy league university like Harvard or any other reputed university. Talking about the scholarship, Harvard and other Ivy league universities do not provide merit based or athletic scholarship but they provide good financial aid if you come from a low income family. Also being an international student start practicing for TOEFL or IELTS as they require the English language proficiency aside from the standardize testing and regarding the SAT test dates and other confusions you can google it.
