Is It True That In The Multicultural American High Schools Interracial Dating Is Prevalent More

Is interracial dating looked down upon in Europe?

Interracial dating as defined by Americans doesn’t really happen as commonly in Europe and Asia because “minority” populations there usually aren’t significant. There haven’t been widespread interracial relationships, so the resistance to interracial marriages never became as overt or expressed publicly.Because of the racial history in the US (and the fact that we all immigrated here), interracial marriage only became legal nationally in 1967 with the Loving vs Virginia case. Despite this, it has been happening all over the US anyways. For example in the past, many Irish and Italian immigrants, who would have never intermarried in Europe, started dating in the US (hence why random people will claim Irish ancestry on St Patrick’s Day). However nowadays in Europe, perhaps most people would feel comfortable dating other Europeans, or even Sub-Saharan Africans and East Asians, but they might judge silently because they know it should be acceptable in a progressive society.Another important point is that, in Europe, an interracial relationship is most likely an international one. People of other races are generally assumed to come from outside of Europe (similar to the belief of some rednecks in regards to the US). This introduces a completely new factor of having different nationalities. That being said, in more cosmopolitan European cities like Barcelona, London, or Paris, there may be more citizens of “other races”. Additionally, interracial mingling really varies between cultures and regions within Europe, such as Nordic and Slavic countries.

Interracial relationships in Canada?

Is it true that interracial relationships are more socially accepted in the United States than in Canada?
In Canada, , you have either very hetereogenous cities like Vancouver or Toronto, where people still date and marry within their cultural group, OR mostly homogeneous cities like Saskatoon and Winnipeg where minorities just have a hard time getting a date!
Can Canadians enlighten me on whether I am right or wrong? Do Canadians frown upon interracial dating?

Which country has the highest proportion of interracial married couples?

Like Steven, I couldn't find actual statistics, but logic somewhat similar to his, I would say the United States.  When I look at Wikipedia's list of countries by population, the most populous are:China (1.37 billion)India (1.27 billion)United States (321 million)Indonesia (255 million)Brazil (204 million)Pakistan (190 million)Nigeria (183 million)Bangladesh (158 million)Russia (146 million)Japan (126 million)Mexico (121 million)Philippines (101 million)Of that top 12, only 3 - the United States, Brazil and Philippines - are places I'd expect a racially diverse population (and in the case of the Philippines, I might be tempted to say ethnically diverse, rather than racially).I think Steven's answer is excellent, but because there have been generations of mixing in Brazil, it's much like where I live in Hawaii - much of the population is already so mixed that it becomes difficult to decide whether a marriage is "interracial" or not.  If someone who's English, German and Norwegian marries someone who's Hawaiian, Samoan and Tahitian, I suspect it counts - but what if someone who's English, Samoan and Tahitian marries someone who's Hawaiian, German and Norwegian?  Tricky. In the US, anti-miscegenation laws are still a recent memory, and there are still plenty of people around who identify as one thing or another, not three. The country is supposedly a "melting pot," but that's perhaps more in a cultural sense than a racial one.So, having 57% more people than Brazil, and less of a history of accepting interracial marriage, I think the United States would have more marriages between people who clearly identify as different races.  Brazil might have it beat for marriages between multiracial people, though.I'd be very surprised if any country other than the United States or Brazil beat them both.

Is interracial dating common in Australia?

Here in the United States this is a complicated issue. And it is very complicated. You have multiple levels of this phenomenon and it reaches every step of the social ladder. I'll explain all this, and then I hope you can respond in full.

One group (most common):

Poor blacks (ghetto blacks with no education) will do anything to get a white woman, and this white woman is typically white trash (white equivalent of poor ghetto black people).

Second group:

Educated black women who want an educated husband. Marry white men not so much out of attraction, but can't find an educated black man to father children.

Third group (least common):

Rich white women who want--and whose husbands allow--a well-endowed black man on the side. This is only in your wealthy broken marriages. Sometimes it's a Cuban pool boy instead of a black. These blacks are not exactly educated, but they're also not in the ghetto. Typically just a poor dumb black who works a decent job. Just hails from a tribe that had big...

Fourth group:

Young white girls who are wanting to rebel against Daddy. Go off to college and date a black for a few years. Embarasses the familiy, but ultimately settles down with a white guy when it comes time to marry and raise a family.

Fifth group:

Some are just generally attracted to each other. This is the least common and it typically occurs between middle class people.

All of it is controversial--though most don't care about the white trash women with black men.

In general, do interracial marriages really work?

How about we look at some numbers from the U.S. After all everyone has an opinion…what’s the good for…This data is almost 10 years old…but, interracial marriages are more likely to result in divorce depending on who you are and who you marry. And these are averages…individuals will always vary…so…We can see that if you use white men/women marriages as a control group. Some couplings are more likely to divorce and some are not. For example white men/black women are not as common a mix but they are less likely to divorce than two white people. Also not reflectedbelow some interracial pairings are more stable than black male/female pairing as well…assuming you count success by lack of divorce. As found here: Rodrigo Canaan's answer to Why do interracial couples with a white husband and black wife have the lowest divorce rates? Background info:1. Fellow Teens: Are there interracial couples at your school?

Yes, tons. My school is the most diverse school in California. So, there's a ton. My best friend's parents are an interracial couple. Her mom's Filipino and her dad's black. I like that California has so many different kinds of couples. Whereas, where my mom is from(Georgia), race is still a huge issue. My cousin is black and white. She was harassed so much as a kid and is still bothered by people for being mixed.

How do interracial couples meet? What are the challenges and rewards?

Since I’m not a millennial, I can say from experience that I’ve met my now former s/o’s in person not Tinder or some dating website. Most of the men attempted to speak Chinese or Tagalog to me, and I laugh at their face to let them know I’m neither. Many (white) men don’t know what kind of Asian I am and automatically assume something mainstream such as Chinese, Filipino, Korean, or Japanese.I am not like the FOB Asian women who don’t say much and never speak their mind. I grew up like a white NY woman, who speaks her mind and is bold (I’m originally from there). White American men are scared of me since they don’t do well with dominant types of women. East Asian men are generally scared too, plus I’m not skinny, for they mainly ONLY go for women who are bony. The downside to my past relationships, is that my Asian family isn’t too fond of white people MOST of the time since my children’s white fathers are dead beat parents! My oldest daughter’s father won’t even let any family see her and me too. He legally lied in court saying I abused our kid, just so he can hurt me and our child too. My mother had a stroke and wanted to see my oldest daughter, but for the time being for the past 13 years, he won’t let my mom and me see my kid that just turned 14 on Sept 14. My mother has called my eldest daughter’s father a Nazi because he rarely had anything to do with his first born and then suddenly takes her away from everything, never to be seen or heard from again. I went 10 years not seeing my kid. My mother hadn’t seen her since she was 6 months old. Most of the white people who “married” into my Asian family, turned out to be psychotic and refused to let their mixed raced children to eat and engage with the rest.I have several friends who are of other races where their child(ren)’s father is a white American and has proven to be ONLY an asshole who refuses to be a responsible parent and man!

What's it like to be in an interracial relationship?

I am Caucasian, born in England, but raised in Canada. For 7 years I was with a traditional native woman. She was VERY native, militant even. So, my being on the side that persecuted her (she was a residential school survivor) did cause a few comments! However, I love cultures, and learning, so, it really didn't get in the way. We both had to learn - natives have "circular" thinking, and in her people, they had an oral culture. She could be told something once, and, she had it. I have to write things down if I want to remember them! So, we had to learn about each other, and the ways each of us approached life. This was not an issue though, and had nothing to do with why we broke up.

In Canada, such relationships are common, so, we heard no comments about it from others at all. There was a language thing - she used her language when she was mad at me, and I didn't speak it!
