Is It Wrong To Call The Cops For Neighbors Lighting Fireworks

How do I get my neighbors to stop doing fireworks?

Normally, I don't have a problem with fireworks, but recently, my next door neighbors have been setting off illegal fireworks in their front yard. My dog is epileptic and noises like that scare him and make him shake. My parents and I have tried to talk to these people, but they seem to not care. My dog is old and I don't want him to have any more seizures. I am concerned with the kind of fireworks too. In North Carolina, it is illegal to use fireworks that are "explosive or aerial fireworks, roman candles, and rockets or similar devices." The kind my neighbors are using seem to be the ones that shoot up into the air.

How can I get my neighbors to stop lighting off fireworks...?

Haha, there should be a "complaining about your dumbass neighbours" section - I bet it'd be very busy! Funny you should ask this as only earlier was I getting angry at the people in the house behind us for setting off the loudest fireworks I've ever heard all bloody evening and eventually waking my baby up grr, but fortunately I don't have to put up with that regularly touchwood!

Anyway I'm really not sure what the law is where you are. I'm in the UK and I know the law here is no fireworks after 11pm (except for Guy Fawkes Night and New Years Eve), however there are laws about noise pollution and antisocial behaviour and I'm fairly certain that if someone constantly set off fireworks every single night that they could be forcibly prevented if it was becoming a nuicance in the neighbourhood.

But I really don't know if that would be the case where you are.

It may be worth talking to the police. If it's illegal (or if they have laws protecting you against noise or nuicances) then you can file an anonymous report and they can be stopped, and if they continue to do so you can call the police and they will get into trouble. I'm fairly sure they won't need to know it was you who complained.

If there is nothing that the law can do about it then I would try talking to them and asking if they could tone it down, and if they still won't then perhaps getting a petition going in your neighbourhood, maybe if they realise they have a number of people against them they might stop. Otherwise - do you have any idea if they're living in rented accomodation? If so, you could perhaps try doing a bit of DIY detective work and seeing if you can get in contact with the landlord and seeing if there's anything they will do about it?

Best of luck to you!

Neighbors keep lighting off fireworks?

You got some serious issues to work out if fireworks bother you that much especially on the birthday of the United States. Also, I am pretty sure it is illegal to call the police on three different phones. What a hypocrite.

What do you call that string thingy you use to light a firework ?

A fuse! Paper wrapped around some powder. Unless you got a real limp match.

Can I call the cops on my neighbors for blasting their subwoofers between the hours of 10pm and 2am?

Most villages or counties have noise ordinances for just this reason. The village I worked in had such a strict night noise level in their ordinance that even croaking frogs by the river or cars driving over a steel bridge would violate the ordinance. They wrote it that strictly so there would never be a question about whether the ordinance was violated or not so neighbors needed to make sure their neighbors would never complain. The noise levels in an ordinance are usually specified at the property line, so if your neighbors produce a level you can hear and that annoys you, they are probably in violation. The one flaw I could see in the ordinance is that it specified levels based on a 1/3 octave band analysis. That meant that the low frequencies produced by a subwoofer were hard to measure with traditional sound level meters. You are well within your rights to call the police on these disrespectful neighbors. The police will give them a warning and keep an eye on them for future violations that could result in fines.

I live in a three unit carriage home. One of my neighbors decided to house a friend's large, hyperactive, very loud dog in their garage while they were gone along with their howling min pin. After three days of this carrying through my home, I was ready to call the police. A couple neighbors beat me to it. They could hear the dogs on the whole block. After one visit from the police, the big dog was gone and the little one was fine being left alone - in his owner's unit.

Should I call the police on my neighbors for fireworks?

So Im no party pooper...but its not July 4th and these neighbors have been setting VERY loud fireworks off for the past week. They start at 10pm and go til nearly midnight. Im absolutely tired of it because it keeps startling my 3 month old daughter who is trying to sleep. These are clearly the illegal fire works from the reservation, they are HUGE!!! The ones the city does for big events, theres no way in hell these arent commercial. Its TOO loud. Im willing to tolerate it only july 4 and new years but not this, late at night. So inconsiderate! This is a neighborhood sub division, not a farm field. Where do i draw the line?

What's the best way to deal with my neighbor's fireworks debris?

My next door neighbor is a 60 year old single male. The last 4th of July, he had a lot of male friends over, set off fireworks for 3 or 4 hours, and left debris all over my yard. It was like an elderly frat party. The yards in my neighborhood are small and setting off fireworks on your propoerty is illegal. I wasn't so upset over the party or the fireworks, but I was very upset over the debris. My driveway was covered with ashes, cardboard pieces, and sharp plastic pieces. I didn't have to go to work the next morning, so I waited to see if my neighbor would clean it up. By 1pm, he didn't. I had to go outside with a shovel and scoop up the debris. And, I saw my neighbor peaking out his window watching me shovel my driveway. I was new to the neighborhood and didn't know what to do last year. So, I pretty much ignored my neighbor for the rest of that summer. There were some small pieces in other yards, but no one's yard was hit with debris like mine.

What do I do if it happens again this year? I thought of reporting it to the police, but in the city where I live, my neighbor could go to the police station and find out who complained. (I would prefer not to get the police involved... yet.)
Do I ignore him again for the summer?
Do I go to his door and say something to him immediately?
What would I say?
Do I wait till I see him outside, which could be days later?
Do I say nothing and throw the debris back into his yard?
Other suggestions?

My neighbors keep calling the police on me and falsely accusing me of criminal acts. I am afraid to go outside of my house. What do I do?

I have a neighbor that is fixated on my husband. She seemed a little off, but once she found out about his time in prison she developed a full blown obsession. She wrote the association board for our community a complaint about him slamming doors and watching her when she was outside. This was nonsense but they still had to address it with us. She wrote subsequent letters to the board stating he has a key to her car, and gains entry to turn on her radio...that he lets air out of her tires...that he's getting in her home and releasing ants...and he's poisoning the food in her refrigerator. We'd see police at her door, but they never stopped by to talk to us. One day last fall, my husband was riding his bike. This neighbor pulled her car in front of him and slammed on her brakes, causing him to fall off his bike. Her behavior was now endangering him so we went to the police to file a report. The police were helpful, and knew our neighbor well. Apparently she'd filed lots of police reports about my husband and a few other men from the neighborhood. The police recognized she has mental health issues and never pursued her later complaints. So what can you do? Try to have your cell phone ready to record if you think your neighbor will confront you. Keep a cool head, there's nothing wrong with not engaging in an argument. Don't be afraid to talk to the police to see what your options are if you're being harassed. You don't want to end up on the wrong side of this problem.UPDATE: my local police department reached out to the neighbour's daughter, the daughter called my husband to apologize and let him know she will be intervening in a medically supervised care program for her mother. She made sure he has her contact info should we have any problems. I give her all the credit in the world, she was wonderful and it's great that she wants to be involved in her care! Here's hoping my neighbor gets back on track.

Why is the stick used to light fireworks called a "punk"?

It is made up of extremely cheap materials
It lays around completely useless until it is lit
It has but one purpose
It sets things off that it comes in contact with
and
when its done with its one time use
it's completely ....done....
sounds like a...punk to me ....
