Is My 6 Month Old Baby Getting Enough Formula

How much formula should a 7 month old be eating?

my 7 month old daughter only drinks about 4 oz of formula at a time, and she has about 5 bottles a day which is about 20oz of formula per day...is this enough?? she eats 2nd foods also. she has a breakfast, lunch and dinner and formula in between, but she still eats between 1 and 2 bottles during the night. is she getting enough formula? should i give her less bottles with just more formula in them?

My 3 month old baby is demanding more formula than breast milk. What should I do?

When my son was born I had recently (a year earlier) recovered from a near-fatal kidney failure.  The possibility that I might once again go into renal failure after the birth prompted me to alternate breast and bottle (formula) feedings for my son so that if I had to stop breast feeding him on a dime he would not suffer from the abrupt change. What I found was that at some feedings he seemed more eager for the formula, while at other times he was content with the breast. For example, a bottle just before bed (about 10 p.m.) kept him sleeping longer, until about 4 a.m.  At that time I would give him a breast feeding which satisfied him until his 'breakfast' time later in the morning. Mid afternoon when he was alert and active was another time when he seemed to crave his formula.  By nine months he had informed me that he would from now on prefer formula only, thank you very much.  He was thriving and not susceptible to colds or other illnesses so I was not bothered by his decision.

IS MY BABY GETTING ENOUGH FORMULA??!!!?

Well...

I have been reading many posts on the internet about how much formula others' babies eat per day, and that kept me wondering if my baby is eating enough after all and if she is within the “normal” range!

My DD is 7 weeks old, and since she hit 1 month she’s always wanted only 2.5-3 oz every 2-3 hours during the day, sometimes can go to 4 hours. Occasionally, though, she might want 4-5 oz (but that happened only 2 or 3 times since last month!) and she sleeps 5-6 hours/night (total bottles she has during the day is 6-7 bottles)

On the other hand, she was born little (6 lbs even) BUT during each appointment she is always gaining weight on a GOOD rate, and she wets 6-7 diapers/day and only 1 dirty diaper which is her normal.

Her pedi. doesn’t seem concerned at all, she said as long as she is wetting enough diapers, sleeping good at night, gaining weight at a good rate... so she is perfectly fine!

BUT when I read such posts in here, always keep me wondering if she REALLY gets enough formula comparing to other babies in her age/weight (she weighed 8.8 lbs on her last 6 weeks old appt.) .. OH, sometimes I try to “push” her to take more, but she ends up vomiting! :-/

Is it enough for a 10 kg baby (7 months old) to have 2 solids and 2 6-oz bottles only per day?

A seven month old baby should still be getting breast or formula as his primary source of nourishment. What does the pediatrician say about this? Some don’t even suggest solids as a meal till closer to 12 months. If he’s growing and gaining at a normal rate, he’s likely getting enough food one way or another. Please check with your pediatrician.I had big babies that came weighing around 9 lbs. The older son had switched to bottle and formula by seven months, but the second was still being breast fed. They liked cereal and fruit and veggie baby food, but they needed the nutritional balance they got from formula or nursing.

How much formula does your 6 month old drink in 24 hours?

Per my doctor i started feeding my son 3 times a day small amound like half a jar of babyfood and he just started to sleep thru the night sleeping from 9 - 8 so so from the time your baby gets up and the time he goes to bed how much formula does he or she consume..

Please done respond if your baby does not sleep tru the night. Only for the fact that it will not tell me if my son is consuming enough formula thru the day.

Right now hes drinking about 20 oz and eating breakfast cereal, fruit for lunch and veggie adn fruit for dinner.

how about urs?

Which formula milk is the best for 0 to 6 month old babies in India?

When it comes to infant feeding Mothers Milk is the Best. Mothers milk has lots of undeniable benefits for both baby and mother. The order of choice of baby food (milk) would beMother’s Milk >> Formula >> Animal Milk ( in that order)When it comes to formula, all companies are trying to make you believe that one is better than another. But if for some reason you could not choose breastfeeding, it is pointless to try and choose among formula brands….. as all are more or less the same. All tall claims made by one brand over others are a marketing gimmick and has no proven difference to the baby. You must be knowing that its illegal to promote infant formula. But companies do it anyway in a covert manner…. Beware of that! The only Choice that matters while choosing Formula isIf your baby is full term: Choose a term formulaIf your baby is born Preterm: choose preterm formulaChoose to breastfeed. Choice of formula should be the last choice. The infographics below highlights the benefits of breastfeedingBenefits to Mothers:Benefits to Baby:True situations where mothers are not able to produce enough milk is very rare. In situations where mothers end up dropping out of breastfeeding and pick formula is mostly due to lack of lactational support. Occasionally some mother picks up formula due to some misguided choice. The first few days of breastfeeding are particularly tough especially for new mothers unless there is adequate support. They have lost of questions and apprehensions and need to find answers to common breastfeeding related questions. I personally had lots of problems during my baby's time but I was persistent and motivated and ultimately could breastfeed her exclusively for six months….. and I am so happy about it.Choose to breastfeed, its not a choice it is a responsibility. If you for whatever reason could choose to breastfeed, then any brand of formula is good enough.

What can i do WIC isnt giving me enough formula?

WIC isn't meant to pay for all of anyone's formula. It covers 80%. If you truly have no more money after bills are paid to buy formula, apply for food stamps/EBT & that is what covers the rest. That is how the system is actually set up to work. So you have to work with it. WIC doesn't cover 100% of anyone's formula, no matter what type they get. You can check with your Pedi to see if they ahve any samples - mine was constantly trying ot cram Nutramigen down my throat because I had a fussy baby (turned out it was just colic & he outgrew it). For real though - she was giving me two large cans EVERY time I came in - so I knew someone who used it, so I would take it & give it to them (because I knew how much it costs & they were free to her from drug/formula reps) & just nurse my baby. Other Dr's MUST also get free sample cans I am sure.

And just FYI - lots of moms do in fact DO no dairy diets. It is not only possible, I even tried it myself to see if it would help my child's colic (it didn't). I kept eliminating until i was on only boiled chicken & white rice - he was still fussy. It was an annoying process BUT much healthier for him than me giving in & just giving him the Nutramigen. So I know just how hard (or simple) it is - depending on how you look at it. Choosing not to follow a dietary restriction to make nursing work is different than "I can't nurse". I get it, it's not pleasant, but it is what it is. I hate to say it, but I bet that if you had to pay the $27 for each can, you likely would have been a tad more motivated to try cutting dairy from your diet. :S

My 11 week old baby not eating enough?

If your daughter has been diagnosed with reflux by her doctor and he/she has recommended that the rice cereal be added, then do not change what you are doing without consulting with the doctor first. Babies with reflux do better with eating small amounts more frequently. It is rare for a baby to not eat as much as she needs. If she only wants 2 ounces, then that is likely all she requires right now. The good thing about infant acid reflux is most babies out grow it by the time they are 12-18 months old. Try to feed her as upright as you can get her. Burp her at 1 ounce and then after the 2. If you sit her up on your lap to burp her, it will put less pressure on her tummy then if you put her over your shoulder for burping. As long as she is producing wet diapers and is having bowel movements she is getting enough to eat.
