Is My Answer Choice Correct

What is the most common correct answer/letter on multiple choice standardized tests?

It's B or C generally, but sometimes fixing on a single option might turn out to be risky. Instead of fixing upon one option, you could teach them to make an "intelligent" guess in multiple choice options. Since sometimes, some options we can easily discard comparing with the other options. You can check out a nice descriptive strategy I came across in the source link below.

If the test includes true or false questions as well or some questions with only 2 options, I'd say to suggest them option B since even if by mistake if they mark it C, it would be a pity.

So if at all you still didn't want to incorporate intelligent guess making, I'd suggest B.

It is good that your are giving your students this extra angle which is generally missed out.

Is my answer choice correct?

no the upper quartile is the median of the median and the highest number so the median is 16 as we line up the numbers as 12 12 15 16 18 18 20 so 16 is the median now the upper Quartile (Q3) is the median of the top half or of 16 18 18 20 so 18 (when its not a specific number or theres an even amount of values and you would get it down to 18 and 18 in this scenario then you average the two which gives you 18 anyways)

18 is the answer

hope you understand that

Is A, B, C, or D usually the correct answer in multiple choice?

Human nature makes people choose the second option from the right when given a choice. Correct or not.
Given 4 choices (a b c d) most would choose c
Given 5 choices (a b c d e) most would choose d

It makes sense that if a teacher is making up a multiple choice test that he or she will probably choose the second option from the right (or the second from last) to be the correct answer more often than they realize.

Try this : Put 4 items in row on a table. Have a friend sit opposite you at the table. Have them pick one of the items, but not tell you which one. Then you guess his choice. Most will choose the second from the right (as they are looking at it).

How do teachers come up with wrong answer choices on tests and quizzes?

When I’m doing multiple choice (which is rare), here’s my algorithm:Write the question.Find the correct answer. Make it “A”.Think about the most common way students are likely to screw up that question.Find the answer that you get when you make that mistake. Make it “B”.Think about a less common way students are likely to screw up that question.Find the answer that you get when you make that mistake. Make it “C”.Pick two numbers from the question. Multiply them together. Make it “D”.Shuffle your answers randomly.Repeat steps 1 - 8 until you have a suitable number of questions.I tell my students this, by the way. I walk them through the process of writing tests. I do this for two reasons:I want my students to know that if they make all the common goofs, they’ll find the “sexy wrong answers” they’re looking for. They look so right…but they’re so wrong. ;) This way, they hopefully study the common mistakes so they don’t make them.Standardized tests are written more or less in this fashion. More advanced techniques are used, to be sure, but the basic premise is the same: Right, Sexy Wrong, Somewhat reasonable, Obviously flawed. If they get used to it in my class, they’ll be more likely to spot the wrong answers on the ACT/SAT.It has been my experience, both personally and through my students, that the smartest students don’t always get the highest test scores. Neither do the hardest working students. The students who get the highest test scores are the ones that are very good (but not necessarily the best) at the subject, and very hard working (but not necessarily the hardest working), and the ones who understand tests and how to dissect them.Taking tests is a skill, just like shooting free throws or playing the violin. Practicing, analyzing your practice, modifying your practice, and then repeating over and over again is the ticket if you want to be a test ninja.
