Is My Audi 2009 A4 Totalled

Will a car start after the airbags have been deployed?

Yes. I work in collision repair and we get cars in all the time with airbag deployments. Drivers bag, passenger bag, side curtains, seat belt retracters, I've changed them all, and I've driven the cars into the shop to do it.

Will driving with a oil leak in the valve cover gasket hurt the engine? If so, how can this be prevented?

Is it an oil leak or an oil seep? Does oil run down the side of the engine leaving a clean trail as oil drips on the ground? Or does it just form a nasty, mucky oil-dirt combination that slowly builds? If it's actually a leak, get it fixed now. You can lose sufficient oil to starve the engine and cause premature wear or even failure. On top of that, you have an oil slick being left wherever you go, oil is probably dripping on the exhaust causing nasty fumes (not to mention a potential fire hazard) and you are having to spend money on oil that is just going to hit the ground. Not to mention it's not exactly good for those plants by your driveway to have oil washing into them.If it's a seep, don't ignore it. Get it fixed. If you have to wait a week or 2 for financial reasons, that's understandable, but don't push it out too far as it can develop into a leak. In addition, the dirt, cottonwood fluff, dandelion seeds, etc that can get stuck in the slime will do a few detrimental things. For one, it insulates your engine raising operating temperature a bit. Most cars engine oil relies on the side of the block and the oil pan to radiate heat away. Remember, oil functions as a lubricant, cleaner, and coolant! If the block and pan are caked over in grime, it is harder for the oil to transfer it's heat through the pan and into the air. This grime can also pose a serious fire hazard. Not fun.

Infiniti G35 or Audi a4?

Ok I'm 16, and I found to really like both of these cars. My dad is just planning on paying cash so he doesn't want to spend more than like $12,000. I found the Infiniti G35, which I like the best, for right under $10,000 but it has 150k miles. (It is my first car, so it's not that big of a deal to me, and I might go out of state for college). The Audi a4 is $11,000 and has 120k miles.

I obviously like the Infiniti better, but which do you guys think is the better choice? I know I know, that is a lot of milage but two of my friends have Infiniti's and one is over 200k and she said it runs fine, and the other is around 140k and is also fine.

I also heard that the Audi's (at least the older ones) are unreliable.

Do the airbags of a car get deployed if another vehicle crashes into it from behind at a high speed?

No. The airbags will not get deployed if some one hits the car from the back.Airbags are deigned to keep you from hitting the dashboard or steering during sudden deceleration. In case of a rear collision, there may be acceleration instead of deceleration. For curtain airbags side sensors are used. The airbags for driver and passenger airbags are in the front, much behind the front bumpers. In many cases,if deployed unnecessarily, airbags can do more harm than good. That's why airbags are deployed based on a lot of conditions. The deceleration and the angle of impact are important factors for the conditions. In case an airbag is deployed when a vehicle is rear ended, the vehicle is directly becomes out of control as the airbag will block the drivers view and also is coming through the starting. In most cases even after rear ending the car can be controlled well. In case an airbag is deployed in a rear end hit, you are increasing the chance of another accident as you are blocking the view of the driver. Otherwise the driver can easily slow down and bring the vehicle to stop. The deployment of the airbag will increase the chances of another collision.Due to these reasons, the airbag is not deployed in rear end collisions

What should you do if someone put sugar in your gas tank?

Read this linkSugar in the Gas TankIt won’t do any harm. It might restrict the flow through the strainer in the gas tank, and if the strainer is missing or broken, it will clog up your fuel filter, restricting fuel flow there. How would you know that someone put sugar in your gas tank? My guess is that most people that have had sugar put in their gas tank never find out that it has been done because it doesn’t do any harm.If I didn’t have a locking fuel cap, I would be more worried about someone stealing my gas than about someone putting sugar in the tank. A tank of gas costs about ten times more than a new fuel filter.

Should airbags deploy when the car is parked?

What are you going to sue for? No one was hurt, no one was in the car. You have not suffered a loss due to the airbags not deploying! I understand that you have a damaged vehicle, but the airbags wouldn’t have changed that. This is why we have insurance. The party that hit your car should have had insurance and that will pay for your car. If they didn’t have insurance or didn’t have enough insurance, your uninsured or underinsured motorist will pay for the damage to your car. If you also didn’t have insurance, well, that’s the risk you took and you lost that risk this time. You can certainly sue the other driver if he didn’t have insurance or won’t pay up for their negligence, but not for the non-deployment of the airbags. The manufacturer did his job, you can’t sue them, you won’t even get it into court.Airbag systems in the car will detect when someone is in the car and the key is on. At that point, airbags are operational and will deploy when necessary. They will not deploy if the seats are unoccupied or the ignition is off. What’s the point? If no one is in the car, there is no point in the airbags deploying. There is no one to protect. If you are driving alone and a car hits your passenger side causing your car to roll over, most cars will not deploy the passenger side airbags or the front airbags. There is no point. There is no one in the passenger seat to protect and you head isn’t heading for the steering wheel. An airbag deployment itself can cause injuries. If the airbag isn’t necessary for life saving, then it remains undeployed.

Which car would be the best choice. An Infiniti QX56 or a Lexus RX350? Mom wants a Lexus Dad wants Infiniti?

Lexus is a far better value. They're the best made cars you can buy and they hold their value. We got rid of our Infinity after we had our Lexus for awhile. After time, the Lexus still drove like we just took it off the lot. My husband has run several car dealerships, and we've driven ALOT of cars. Nothing is like a Lexus. I don't even drive my Porsche that much anymore. The Lexus SC430 rides soooo much nicer. But it's still about what your personal prefernce is.By the way, J.D. Power And Associates has ranked Lexus #1 for 15 yrs. in a row.Consumer Reports also has it ranked at #1. That should tell you something.
