Is My Dobie Euro Or American Bloodline

What is kimbertal bloodline in dobermans?

I would describe it as a substandard kennel & therefore not one I would purchase a Dobermann from.

The Kimbertal puppy page is interesting reading for all the wrong reasons.
"Superior size" male puppy $2250 red $2500 black
"Over size" $2000

“Superior size” b*tch $3000. Where is the logic is charging $500 more than for the show prospect that they must deem to be closer to the standard? Make sense of that if you can!
Standard b*tch $1500
Show prospect b*tch $2500

There is nothing "superior" about a puppy bred for abnormal height & weight, & truly shocking that purchasers are expected to pay a premium for larger than standard puppies.

Neither the sire or dam was bred by Kimbertal & there is a link for information on their stud dogs but nothing for b*tches. No health test results for kennel & I would expect the new DNA test for DCM to rate a mention.

Where to get a European blood line Doberman Pinscher?

The breeder listed by Julie D is a Euro cross line - not a true Euro bred line. Its crossed with conformation show lines (at least one of them are - I didn't check every dog's pedigree)

Breeders do this to create a softer dog . It may be acceptable to you and if its your first Doberman, it might be a good idea anyway as Euro bred dogs are harder dogs to manage. Period.

I prefer pure Euro lines for their structure and temperment (they are thicker boned and generally, harder and more resilient dogs)

On a separate note, I see you have a Mastiff and a GSD.

If either of these dogs are males - do NOT get a male Doberman. They will absolutely fight and it will be untenable. The Doberman is dog aggressive and even contemplating owning a male with another male in the house is a huge mistake.

Even neutered males will fight.

This article posted by the first poster is a pretty good and overall encapsulates well why there is such a difference in Doberman breeders - a true Euro breeder will never compromise with crossing their stock with conformation show lines.

Are american dobermans protective?

*AS THE EUROPEAN DOBERMAN ? i KNOW the european dobermans are protective. But I have akc american doberman pup hes now 4 months and Im wondering if the american dobermans are protective like the original european ones. Cuz i know their body and build are completely different so im asking if the american dobermans are for protection too.

Reputable Doberman Breeders? European lines?

I would like to know what some think are the best and most reputable breeders in America. I am particularly interested to the European type Doberman rather than the American. Both are Beautiful dogs but I personally prefer the thicker look of the European lines. I don't mind paying for the quality. You get what you pay for.

I do have experience with large, powerful, high energy dogs.

Is Ukraine a good place to get a working-bred Doberman from a breeder, compared to the other EU countries?

That's like asking if you can get a better pug in Florida. Why would that be true? Are there better breeders in the Ukraine? Are you specifically considering a highly reputable breeder ? Are you looking only at conformation scores? or also at obedience marks? In this breed, obedience is essential. Dumb beautiful dogs abound.Every breeder is different…everywhere. You should research the breeder fully, and his country should be completely irrelevant. The dog’s pedigree should be of primary consideration (no inbreeding) and the tests on the dam and sire run a quick second (regarding von Milibrands disease, hip dysplasia, and overall performance).Conformation means little, since Dobermans have been bred for a narrow skull for the past thirty years, creating a pretty low IQ dog= Low trainability.Sorry, I wouldn't buy a purebred Doberman these days. Anywhere. Unless someone showed me that they're trying to breed the intelligence back into them.

Should the American version of dog breeds, like the Doberman, German Shepherd, etc. be considered separate breeds?

I don't think there is enough difference between them. In fact, many of our American dogs have European blood. My Dobe's mother was imported.

Which one should I go for? Doberman or American pitbull terrier? I am quite focused about training and properly raising them. I am a new dog owner. Who will be perfect as a guard dog and a family companion? Which of these is a healthier breed?

As you are a first time owner my suggestion to you is avoid guard dogs.First get a gentle or less powerful breed like labrador, pug, pomeranian etc. You need to learn a lot about dog behavior and the discipline as an owner you should possess.Without getting this experience you should avoid strong breeds. Because your one mistake in the discipline will make a powerful breed uncontrollable.Get a gentle breed first and learn to be in owner’s discipline. Then you will be eligible to have a powerful guard dog. Getting a strong dog as a first time owner will prove to be very hard for you. You may have to deal with teaching discipline(dog may not listen to you if it senses weakness in your personality), leash pulling, neighbor complaints, handling the dog while guests visit, taking care of children around the dog (strong dogs can cause damage even while they play). That’s the reason you should avoid both Pitbull and Doberman.Get a gentle dog that anyone can walk if you don’t get time.Get a dog which is friendly with neighbors and guests.Don’t worry about protecting the territory. Even gentle dogs bark at strangers and alert you about anything suspicious. Its just that they don’t attack right away as confidently as strong breeds do. But this is best for you for the time being.

Why do Doberman from the US look so weak compared to the ones from Europe?

The American Doberman was specialized to to be a house/yard dog, and 50+ years of breeding for a smaller & slimmer dog that doesn’t eat you out of house and home has achieved that. European dobies are primarily working dogs, and they’ve got the physique to match. We’ve got both types of dobie in our house - one 100% American red female, and a 75% European male B&T - the male is significantly more “houndy” - he’s got a jowly face and floppier ears (even though both of them have cropped ears), and he’s got a thicker coat. Cay’a (our female) is actually larger and heavier than Nyx (our male) by about 8–10 pounds, but you wouldn’t know it by looking at pictures of them - she’s as sleek as the classic American dobie is always portrayed to be, but she’s got a chest like a gorilla, and a big bark to go with it. Nyx has a gruffer “voice”, and has a tendency to be a bit howly when he gets vocal - more of that hound aesthetic. Cay’a is noticeable more intelligent, she’s a troublemaker and can figure out puzzles (and baby gates), and tends to anticipate and out-think her trainer in her IPO training sessions, which gets her into trouble - fairly often she will figure out that the IPO helper that she’s supposed to be finding behind a blind is in a specific blind and will want to go directly there and revere at him, instead of looking behind all of the blinds like the trainer wants, whereas Nyx will just do as he’s told and run all the blinds, and then revere once he’s found the helper. Both of them, irrespective of their breeding lines, are hyper-sensitive love-bugs, and will happily nap on the couch and watch TV with you with their head in your lap, and when you fuss at one of them for having misbehaved (unlocking the baby gate, etc), they both act like they’re being beaten within an inch of their lives, even when they’re just being scolded. Both of ours are great dogs, and we’ve got no issues with either of their ancestries - American dobies are just as much fun as European ones. :-)

Where to look for doberman Pincher puppies in Indiana?

I've been looking for a good place to search for a Doberman Puppy. I will not look at pet stores or sites that get their puppies from puppy mills. unfortunately that seems to be the way to get a dog nowadays so I was hoping someone else may know of a good place to look for a healthy doberman puppy in central Indiana. Reputable websites or maybe a rescue that doesn't alter their puppies ( I prefer to wait to alter (spay/neuter) them until they are more developed; please no rants about my opinion as I am entitled to it.) Any suggestions as to a good place to search are appreciated!
