Is My Principal Unfair

Can my principal make me work on Saturday?

One Saturday a month to ensure that your students have the best opportunities to succeed academically and holistically is a bargain for educators today. One major reason that I became an educator was to change the world, one child at a time. That child you will help on Saturdays may be struggling in an area that you help them succeed in. You will benefit by having a more alert and academically keen student in your class with your Saturday tutoring, and hopefully inspire other students to get this extra help.

Most educators never get the chance to take their proposed teaching contracts home to look over when principals offer you a job after the interviews. You mostly look at the stated pay and benefits, unless you were independently wealthy before you became a teacher.

I would suggest that you propose to school leaders that some academically enriching activities for parents take place during these open houses. Network with parents and build a solid front to offer more resources for the students.

Re-assess why you became a teacher, and know that teaching is like serving in the Jesuit or Catholic Church as a nun or priest. If you are looking for just job security and a middle class income, then re-assess your skills and education, and consider leaving the profession within five years for more pragmatic career options like many other new teachers do voluntarily or involuntarily.

Teaching will never be like working in a bank from 9-5. We have to prepare students to compete globally.

Was my principal unfair....?

So my new school shoes gave me blisters all over my feet and i am not exagerating when I say.. I CANT walk in them. I am in so much pain, more than when you normally break into new shoes and you get one small blister or something..

Well my mum told me to wear some slip on shoes that are light and dont hurt for the rest of the week and she wrote me a note to excuse me. The principal saw me with non-uniform shoes and had a go at me. I told her I had a note and then she asked me if i had the shoes in my bag and I did so she said well put them on. I sorta paused and said "well.. i cant... its too painful I can barely walk... I have a note" she interrupted me and said she didnt care and made me put them on... I tried to tell her that i wasnt trying to break rules and that i legitimately was in pain...

This made my feet worse because I had to wear them like this the whole day...
My mum is very angry at the school..

Was she being unfair or am I suppose to suck it up and have painful feet?
Sorry, it just really upset me today how she reacted and how she treated me about this...

What are the powers of school principals?

The truth is that the power of the principal can either be negative or positive. However, there are principals who understand that they have the power to have a positive impact on a students and teachers every day, which is the power that principals should aspire to.

How can I write a formal letter to the principal for a request to take a mark list?

I don’t know what “taking a mark list” means, but the letter you want to write will follow the same concepts no matter what you’re requesting. Begin with the greeting:“Dear Principal ______________ (his/her name):I am writing to request your help in (righting a wrong) (gaining reconsideration of an assigned grade) (dealing with an unfair situation), etc.”Next, begin to tell the story of what happened. Go back only as far as necessary to make your point. Avoid listing every detail and personal insult — stick to the highlights.“As you can imagine, I was shocked to discover (that my grade had been lowered) (that I had failed the class) (that I had been unfairly accused). I tried to discuss this issue with the teacher, but he/she was unwilling even to hear my concerns.Hence, I feel I have no choice but to ask for your intervention in this matter. I would be happy to speak with you at your convenience to address any further questions you have and to provide additional details. Can we meet in the next week? Please let me know as soon as possible.I look forward to working with you and your staff to find a resolution to this vexing issue and move forward with my educational pursuits.Yours truly,Name

My school is being unfair, what should i do?

im in middle school and at my school the assistant Principal and a few other teachers r insane about this really strict dress code.

So today i was wearing a pretty black skirt that id worn once before to school with a turquoise tank top and a sweater thingie. the outfit was really conservative. the skirt was practically to my KNEES and my shoulders and arms were covered, nothing was low cut or anything.

after lunch the assistant principal came up to me, asked me my name, and told me to put my arms by my sides so she could see if my skirt was shorter then my finger tips (one of the crazy rules) and it was over an inch longer then my fingers (and i have really long arms and hands cuz im tall). so she could plainly see it fit the dress code, and so i said ' dont worry it is long enough' she then asked me if i had anything underneath it (creeepyyyy) and since i wasnt wearing tights or spandex or leggings or anything like that i said 'no, but it has a layer underneath it' (its a layed skirt).

So the vice prinipal proceeded to ban me from wearing my skirt to school. ever again. which i think is insane, since my skirt was worn a little higher then usual to make my tucked in tank top look like connected to it like a dress, but still fit the dress code, AND when TUGGED a little to it's normal position it is THREE INCHES BELOW MY FINGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the dress code says that your fingers cant touch your legs when your hand are by your sides or ur skirt/shorts are too short. but this DEFINATLY followed the dress code.

that skirt is my favorite skirt and was sort of expensive, a present from my grandma, and i really really like it. I want to do something to rebel against the unfair dresss code!!!! they r sooo many unspoken rules and if shes going to bann my favorite skirt for NO REASOn WHAT SO EVER; she should pay me the amount it cost or buy everyone uniforms, since apparenty skirts that practially touch your knees are considered scanduous now. this isnt the first time ive gotten in troube also, the other time it was with a shirt that was, appearantly, 'too off the shoulder' (something that isnt in the dress code)

i NEEEDDD to do something to rebel against the dress code, any ideas??????????? plz list as many as you can think of :)

Can a principal change a teacher's grade if he doesn't agree with it?

In North Carolina, the teacher is the final decider of grades according to the laws governing public schools. In a neighboring county, a high-school principal changed grades of a student athlete in order to help him qualify for a college athletic scholarship. The changes were discovered, and the principal lost his job.The high-powered parent of one of my students complained about my grades to the principal. The principal came to me and ask me if I were willing to change that student’s grade—an athlete who would become academically ineligible to play if I did not. I told the principal that if I agreed to raise the grade of that student by two points, I felt that to be consistent, I would have to raise all my students’ grades by 2 points, which would have meant refiguring all my grades, and resubmitting the semester report for the whole school. He agreed with me. The grade was unchanged.

I stood up to an unfair teacher. Now my parents think I did the wrong thing. What should I do?

I would have to see the teacher, and actually have been at the situation to see what was going on in order to tell you what you did was right or wrong.I don't agree with what other people have said here....at all.The proper thing to do, when a teacher says something like "you are going to fail." To the "less talented" students. Is to respectfully challenge the teacher in the moment. With a simple "No. Miss. They won't fail."But it doesn't appear your teacher is doing anything unfair other than simply being mean. I hate to tell you this as a man in his late 20's, but people are REALLY mean in the world outside of school. And, if you say the wrong thing to the wrong person, sometimes you get fired for it. Even if the person is being unfair. This does not mean that what the teacher is doing is commendable, or even right, but do not fool yourself into thinking that somehow things will be fair out in the "real world." They will be just as harsh, and even more cruel. If you let one silly, measly, sorry, pathetic teacher get you angry, you are going to be REALLY angry when you see what it's like outside. It's nowhere near as easy as it is in school. Not one bit.Take school as a character building experience. It isn't going to matter once you leave anyway. Learn to ignore silly people like this teacher while you are young, and you will grow strong.

Am I being treated unfairly at school?

So a few days ago, something happened that seemed alright at the time, but now I am possibly getting into trouble for.

I hit a boy with a sock in school. To me it seemed like just a bit of fun, and a sock can't hurt you. I asked the boy if he wanted me to stop, but he laughed and said it was fine and that he found it funny.

So a few days later, I get called into the deputy head's office, and am now likely to get a very serious detention and my parents notified. I just feel like this isn't right.

To use an anology, say a man is having sex with a woman, and she gives consent at the time, everything is fine. Then a few days later, she goes to the police and says that this man raped her.

Now I know that it isn't as serious as rape, but in terms of them saying it is ok at the time, then getting you into trouble later.

I also have around 8 witnesses who were there in the room and have offered to speak to the teachers about it.

I just would like to get another opinion. What should I do? Who is in the wrong? Is it as serious as to give a formal detention outside of school time, and tell my parents?

Thanks a lot!
