Is Politico A Liberal Or Cconservative Site

What is your political point of view: liberal or conservative?

Please, Salaem, don't fan the flames with this devisive labeling. You are giving people 3 vague choices which could never accurately reflect the opinions and sentiments of a nation of 270 million people. I mean, you didn't come up with these 3 categories, right? These are somebody elses labels.

The power brokers confuse us into thinking that we have to be one or the other, and it offers no room for independent thought and creativity. No room for individualism. Almost everybody is liberal on some things, conservavtive on some things, and moderate on most things. All at the same time. The labeling keeps us at odds with each other. It makes us view each other from a cross a line on the floor, wearing different colored jerseys. It makes us see separateness, instead of common interests. This allows the powers that be to do whatever they want, because we are fighting each other, and accusing the other side of being the cause of nothing being accomplished. Meanwhile, the status quo quietly continues.

Please consider how you contribute to this problem with this question. Let's choose to not identify with labels someone else made up.

Is there a Liberal vs. Conservative Test?

There are multiple websites that can give you guidance...

If you believe owning a gun, smoking a cigarette, eating red meat, or driving a sport utility vehicle is sinful; you might be a liberal.

If you believe government can spend your money better than you can spend your money…you might be a liberal.

If you have faith in idiotic economic policies such as "trickle down economics", you might be a conservative.

If your main source for news is a man named Rush who distorts facts consistantly to fit his views and opinions, then you might be a conservative.

Some of the websites can give you a good laugh. If you truly want to use the scientific method, then form the hypothesis and do the research. Collect the data, and form the opinion to support the data. But be prepared for surprises. I've met liberal democrats who believe in higher taxes and more government roles, but are VERY pro-lfe. Likewise, I've met Republicans who are pro-abortion and anti-death penalty.

There is no true "black or white" for a person. It's more of a general concept.

Easy, Los Angeles is so liberal it is not blue, it is indigo. It's LA's mayor, city, district and county councils are all run by left wing Democrats, the US congressional districts are all Democratic strongholds. LA tends to tread lightly around its business district, Hollywood, Century City and City of Industry (All are major entertainment and studio centers).

Is this view conservative or liberal?

Hello

I am on the liberal side of the politics.
I have many views, though some may not be regarded as liberal.
These are some.

Corporal punishment/spanking of children - Opposed
Abortion - Opposed
Copy-write - Opposed
Euthanasia on request - Support
Death penalty - Opposed
People being allowed to use bad language - Opposed
Family value issues - Complex and mixed (cannot involve abuse or discrimination etc)
Data protections laws - Complex and mixed (these current laws are over the top and insensible)

As part of the data protection or privacy laws that exist in the UK, they say that is against the law to tape record someone without their consent; and so it would be illegal to use this as evidence in a court.

As far as I am concerned; the use of secretly tape recorded evidence, it should be valid evidence for which a person can be punished as a result of.

Which is better? liberal or conservative?

As nice as I can say: don't fall into these mental traps. It is much better to remain clear of any label that you would want to stick on yourself. The negative for non-association to a party is that you don't get the benefit to 'fit in' with close-minded, like-minded individuals who try to represent what their label suggests at the cost of common sense. The positive to non-association to a specific party is that you are able to view all issues openly and and without bias often arriving to the better conclusion.

Being young, I would really suggest keeping your mind open and not be restricted to the narrow margins of these parties. There is quite a bit more I can offer but that sure is an important first step.

From what I read The Hill is, compared to most other US media outlets, very centrist and is an excellent source of news. If anything it leans left, but not enough to tarnish its reputation as a good source of info on Capitol Hill.

I have been a long time Quora lurker. This site has been and still is a trove of knowledge. However that being said, it is always important to tread with caution as you're fundamentally sourcing people's opinion (just as this is my opinion). Recently as Quora has gotten more popular and hit the mainstream there has been an inclination for the platform to shift further to the left. This phenomenon is not unique to Quora but can also be observed on other aggregation sites like Reddit and Digg (back when it was more popular).Ultimately quality and diversity suffers as vote brigading starts determining the popular answers. Dogma begins to prevail and you go from discussion to an echo chamber. This is especially noticeable in the more politics and economics related questions where you will often find an utter disregard for empirical evidence and a regurgitation of leftist ideology making it to the top with well thought out and more neutral points of views being snuffed out. Often any critique is met with sanctimony and snark. This is not to say that all conservative or neutral viewpoints are disregarded. One of my favourite defenders of capitalism here is Charles Tips since he has a knack for explaining things rationally, diplomatically, and with ample real world evidence. An old French quote comes to mind;"Celui qui n’est pas républicain à vingt ans fait douter de la générosité de son âme; mais celui qui, après trente ans, persévère, fait douter de la rectitude de son esprit."In English;“He who is not a republican at twenty compels one to doubt the generosity of his heart; but he who, after thirty, persists, compels one to doubt the soundness of his mind.”This is not meant to further paint a binary between left and right ideologies but rather illustrate a point. What do you think the average Quora users age is? As Quora hit the mainstream, do you think it is the old or the young who flock to the website?
