Can Muslim women wear bikinis?
Yes. I am a muslim myself, and as far as anyone is concerned I can put on my bikini and show it to whomever I want - with consequences.Based on my religious upbringing and knowledge on Islam, Bikinis should not be worn by women, and neither should most types of swimsuits. However, personally I do not agree with this. I dress according to the place I am going to. If I happen to be going to an Egyptian beach, I often wear something like this:Now, this one-piece swimsuit can still get me in trouble with my family about my lack of modesty, so it is still a gamble. I am a firm believer of freedom of choice and being respected despite what I am wearing, therefore, even if I am a Muslim, I still can do what I like as long as I am not harming anyone. However, in Europe, I wear a simple black bikini, sort of like this:And I still identify as a muslim.Clothing in general in the Arab islamic world is not always a viewed as a personal choice, but as a public one. I do not agree with this, however I have nothing against people wearing Burkinis:It depends on which part of the Islamic world you're talking about, just whatever you wear, wear it because YOU want to! And rock it!
