Is The Surface Tablet Good.

Surface RT tablet for the artist?

The Surface RT is not a graphics tablet. It is a computer that is designed as a tablet, and although there should be some art-related apps available for it, it's not what it's designed for. People are really making mistakes with thinking tablet PCs are the same as graphics tablets. A tablet PC does NOT have the level of pen sensitivity that a true graphics tablet has.

If you are planning on using it for general computer use, fine, but it's not a graphics tablet.

The only really good draw on the screen with image on the screen graphics tablets are the very expensive Wacom Cintiq line of tablets. Wacom also makes much less expensive tablets that you have to be looking at a computer screen to use. You'd probably be a lot better off buying a moderately priced laptop and a Wacom tablet (Intuos or Bamboo, there are several in each line) than buying the RT if you truly want to use a graphics tablet.

Is the Surface RT good for college?

Take no notice of the fanboys and nay-sayers. I have an Android tab, and three excellent Windows 7 tabs. I bought the RT to see what it could actually do ... and I'm using it more than 90% of the time. All the apps that you actually need are available, and you get Office free. The RT 8.1 upgrade is coming soon, and that makes the thing even more attractive. Take advantage of the fact that the world is full of idiots who believe that 1,000,000 apps makes a device useful. Go for this one while it's cheap ... t's amazing value for money, and as a student it'll be the most useful thing you can buy. Have a look around the net - there's an interesting post by one top blogger who actually despised the RT but ended up buying one for his son as it was by far the best choice for college.

Is the Surface Pro 4 a good laptop?

Surface Pro 4 is great tablet that can replace your laptop. It's got 6th generation Intel Core i3, i5 & i7 processor and can easily run Windows & Office

It's lightweight, fast and fun replacement for any laptop. If you want features of both tablet AND laptop, then go get Surface Pro 4. Includes surface pen, but Type Cover / Keyboard are sold separately. I feel there's no real business usage for the surface pen, but it's neat to have if you like to draw or paint on tablet screen. Also, there aren't many apps on Microsoft App Store (when compared to Android Play Store). Anyways, it's still perfect for writing, studying, browsing, listening to music, etc

You can get it from http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Surface-...

Is the surface pro 4 good for video editing?

On the one hand the Surface Pro is a great form factor for video editing (contrary to another answer here). It's Great to be able to edit videos almost anywhere and editing directly on the screen with pen is much more direct than using a mouse. That said, I'm a big user of keyboard shortcuts too and the Surface keyboard does fine there. However as the other answer stated the Surface Pro 4 is not powerful enough for highly complex multi track editing. I edit my YouTube videos in HD on the Surface with Adobe Premiere Pro but there are some trade offs in performance compared to more high power devices. So if video editing is your primary use case for the Pro 4, maybe look for something with more CPU and GPU power. If you're after the best laptop replacement and you want to take notes, mark up documents and collaborate no matter where you are (with video editing being a secondary function) then the Pro 4 is excellent. Just go for one of the higher spec models.

Is the Surface Pro 4 good for programming?

I am going to college for Computer Science and in need of a new laptop. I've been looking at the Surface Pro 4 that's coming out soon. I need a device that is good for programming, since that is the majority of my major. Will this be good to use for programming, or is there a better option?

Is microsoft surface pro good for student use?

The Microsoft Surface Pro is basically a laptop trapped inside a tablet. You will be able to install any existing Windows applications that you used to install on your old laptop, so auto-cad, Photoshop, etc, should be able to run on it. There is also a pressure sensitive pen that is included with the Surface Pro so you can write down notes or draw with. I recommend that you get the typecover with the Surface as it will make typing much easier than typing on the screen or touchcover.

It is not like those Windows RT/iOS operating systems where you are restricted to only apps from the Windows Store/Apple Store.

You may want to purchase an external cd/dvd drive if you have some disks that you need to run on the Surface Pro.

I also want to note that it may not fit your budget as the Surface Pro will cost $899 for a 64gb version and $999 for 128gb version, both WITHOUT touch covers, which will cost $120-130 extra depending on what type of keyboard cover you want. The battery life will last around 4-5 hours, and is still not very clear. It may increase if Microsoft implements Intel's new Ivy Bridge Ultra Low Voltage processor into the device.

What I think of this device is that it is a great product for school, its as portable as a tablet, but also functions as a laptop. Of course, you can always get another laptop for a much cheaper price.
