Is There A Cheap Windows 8 Pro Tablet

How do I get chrome on my windows 8 tablet?

I just got a windows 8 tablet. One of the first things I did was to download chrome. The installer downloaded but when it tried to run I got a message that said this app couldn't run on windows and that I should go to the windows store to find it. I searched for google chrome on the windows store and did not see it. Is there a way to run Chrome on my windows 8 tablet?

What are the best, yet cheap, Windows 8 tablets?

PCMag just did a roundup. Perhaps one will fit your budget:The 10 Best Windows Tablets

What is the best Windows 8.1 tablet? (for $350)?

While you may come across several Windows 8.1 tablets at less than $350 this holiday season with comparable specs, I can suggest you one after having used six different 'best'-sellers per se (including Surface 3 RT & Pro).Let us exclude the Surface series here. I have used the Asus Transformer Book, the Lenovo Mixx, the Dell Venue 8 Pro, the HP Omni 10 and Toshiba Encore.Given their comparable specs, I found the Dell Venue 8 Pro to be the most popular with my peers. This also happens to be a popular choice with buyers as it runs a full Windows 8.1 OS.I, however, use the HP Omni 10 tab for most of my needs as I feel the size is just right. Also, for some reason, the miracast screen-mirroring works better with the HP than with the Dell.Hope that helps.

Android or Windows 8 tablet?

First a bit about Windows tablets: Windows tablets actually come in two varieties, Windows 8 tablets which are actually tablet/notebook PC hybrids (e.g. Microsoft Surface Pro) and then those running Windows RT (Microsoft Surface) which is a stripped down version of Windows 8 that looks like Windows 8, but can only run Windows RT apps purchased through the Microsoft app store. The price difference is significant. Windows RT tablets start around $500 ($600 with the keyboard/case attachment) and then Windows 8 tablets (Surface Pro) starting around $900. Windows RT is Microsoft's tablet OS and devices that run Windows RT are lighter weight and are priced comparable to other tablets. Tablet devices running Windows 8 are really notebooks that can transform into heavy tablets. The thing I love about the Microsoft Surface tablets are the flip-case and the integrated keyboard. No other tablet gets this right like Microsoft has done. Also, I like that Microsoft Office is included with every Windows tablet.

Android tablets will give you access to more apps and will cost about $100 less for comparable screen size. If you have an Android phone you'll be able to download apps you've already purchased through Google Play or Amazon App Store to your tablet at no cost. Samsung Galaxy Tab and Google Nexus 10 are two models I would recommend looking at, both will give you access to the Google Play Store with tens of thousands of movies, books, etc…

Based on what you've said you're looking for "using it for the basic stuff: reading, watching videos, wi-fi (web browsing)" I would strongly recommend you look at the larger Kindle Fire HD 8.9". The Kindle Fire HD is an Android tablet, it's just running Amazon's custom version of Android. The most popular Android apps are available in the Amazon App store. On top of being a high quality product the Kindle Fire HD has the advantage of Amazon's huge library of movies, books and music. No other tablet can claim this library and Amazon has not released their video player for other Android tablets. You can rent movies on the Kindle Fire HD that you can not on a Windows tablet or any other Android tablet yet, Google Play and Microsoft's App Store just can't compete with Amazon's library.

So given all of this information I would suggest taking a trip to your local Best Buy and spending some time with the Microsoft Surface, The Galaxy Tab and the Kindle Fire HD.

Is the OS in Microsoft tablets the same Windows 8 that is in Laptops/desktops?

Yes, essentially the same. There are 2 types of tablets:Windows RT tabletsWindows 8 tabletsWindows RT tablets run the same OS, BUT without the desktop functionality. To be precise, there is a desktop access, but you cannot install any desktop applications on it. The only desktop apps that you can use come pre-installed i.e. IE10 and Microsoft Office. You can however access your file manager, open drives, control panel and all those type of things. The only apps that can be installed on such a device are those that are downloaded from the Windows Store i.e. Modern UI apps. These are the tablet like apps such as Angry Birds, Jetpack Joyride, Kindle etc. Thus, you cannot go to, say, the VLC website and download the setup for VLC player and install it as you cannot install desktop apps unlike on your PC. If VLC releases a Modern UI version of its app on the Windows Store you can download and install it. (They are creating one) Windows 8 tablets provide the full functionality of Windows 8 Pro on your tablet. Thus, along with installing apps from the Windows Store you can also install desktop apps as you would have done on your PC.  Thus, the 2 versions Windows RT and Windows 8 on tablets are the same OS, only with Windows RT not having desktop functionality. Windows Phone 8 is a different OS from Windows 8. However, Windows Phone 8 shares the same kernel as Windows 8. Thus, code used in apps can be shared across both platforms easily. Thus, if you code an app for one platform you can easily port it to the other.

What are the best Windows 8 hybrid laptop/tablets?

My wife recently bought me a Surface Pro 3 for my birthday and I can say it is absolutely the BEST gift I have ever received in my life. It sports 8G RAM and an i7 processor so it's pretty decent. It came with a keyboard so I can write code on the go, or just detach it and use it like a tablet. I highly recommend it over any laptop.

What is the best Windows 8 Tablet out in the market today?

Namaste, Thanks for A2A.This question was asked around 3 years back, but as there is a answer request by Manoj Kumar now, I am writing an answer. The best Windows 10 (no Windows 8 anymore) in market right now is the Microsoft Surface 4(Microsoft Surface Pro 4). It is the best the money can buy. The design, features, specifications are exceptional. It is better than any iOS or Android device too!Hope it helps!

Best Windows 8 tablet with stylus and keyboard?

I'm planning on buying myself a windows 8 tablet to replace my old laptop and wanted to know what is the best windows 8 tablet currently on the market. I wish to buy a tablet/laptop hybrid which supports a stylus pen as well. I was about to buy the Dell Venue 11 Pro but recently came across some very negative reviews about is stylus pen which is not so good so I don't think I want the Venue 11 Pro anymore. The Sony Vaio Tap 11 was also another great option but heard the battery life sucks. Not interested in any of the Microsoft Surface Pro's, so no Microsoft Surface Pro's either as they are a tad bit too pricey and not really the type of design I'm looking for as one can't really use it on your lap due to the soft keyboard.

Can anybody advise me on a good solid Windows 8 or 8.1 tablet/laptop hybrid? It doesn't have to be core i3 or core i5, Intel Atom processor will do as long it has good battery life and can do basic multitasking very basic.

Please only Windows 8 or 8.1 tablets don't tell me about an android tablet or apple tablet because I won't be interested and you will just be wasting your time.

NB: WINDOWS 8 OR 8.1 TABLET WHICH SUPPORTS A KEYBOARD AND STYLUS PEN

What is the best productivity Tablet (Android or Windows 8) to date?

Its windows 8 when it comes to Productivity, because its basically a desktop operating system (and thats super powerful) on a tablet! So it has more productivity software on supply! Make sure though that that windows tablet is not the RT version which is as useless as Android in regards to productivity if not worse.
